I got a basic Diverge A1 (the black/blue one) with Claris (for a great price from my LBS) Picked up a cheap 5800 group set, then sold the STIs and spyres as new on eBay to fund a set of RS685 hydros from Germany…..

Total bike after buying and selling kit (including old wheels and Claris group set) came to about £800 all in – well happy!!

Kinesis CX disc v3’s on my Diverge – followed the crowd, got a good price……

    No complaints after 9 months.

No worries! It’s an easy fix – a long bolt with a SFN will do the trick!

Off to rummage in the spares box……

    Ian – cheers!

I take it the fork crown on yours is solid with a tapped hole in it then?

My alu diverge has a carbon fork with alu crown (so hollow)

Thinking a star fangled nut in the bottom of the steerer might be the way to go!

Ian – ha ha, that’s a spot on description!! Totally agree on the supplied grub-screws too! Luckily have a plentiful supply of stainless bolts from work……

At least after all the tinkering and setting up they are pretty much plug-and-play when you remove/refit them!!

How have you mounted the front guard at the crown then?

My V1s are destined for the wife’s bike now, and the V2s are going on my diverge.

CFH – any chance of a pic or two of how your front guard is mounted at the crown?

I picked up some V2’s from Stonehenge cycles earlier (awesome sevice and shop!) but they’ve got exactly the same L-shaped bracket as my V1’s?

    Cheers,

    +1 on its road abilities

Did a 107k last weekend as part of a group – including 2 checkpoints and cake stops we came in at 3h 50, so averaged over 18mph all the way round.

    Was comfortable too…….

Cool – I’ll give them a call in a bit!

    Cool – thanks CFH!

I had to dremel a bit out of my V1’s to clear the front mech arm – good to see they’ve fixed that this time!

Is that Stonehenge Cycles in Salisbury?

They look a lot cleaner than the V1’s – might get a set and put the V1s on my wife’s bike (that doesn’t get ridden as much……)

    What guards are they CFH?

Are they the Specialized plug and play ones? if so – which version? V1 or V2?

The “look” similar to my Specialized plug and play ones but at the same time look different??

EDIT – just managed to get the photos to load properly on my phone – definitely Spesh P&P ones, V2. (where did you get them from?)

Mine are the V1’s that the rear stay doesn’t have a kink in it so runs virtually horizontally backwards. V2 looks like it will be a bit stiffer and have less “bounce” with the kinked stays.

EDIT 2 – how have you mounted the front at the crown? any chance of some more pics? Mine use the L-shaped bracket, but yours look super neat……is the bracket inside the crown or have you fettled the guards somehow? Looks like it could be a Daruma bolt?

No problems with mine. Used more on the road than gravel duties anyway!

Was a bog standard Diverge A1 – the blue and black one, bought on a deal I couldn’t refuse.

Claris groupset and spyres sold off on ebay netted me back most of the cash I needed for 11speed 105 from Ribble. I then sold the 105 STIs and calipers from that groupo and bought the RS685 hydros from bike 24, and sold the wheels on the bay for good money too, got me over half the price for some kinesis CX disc V3s.

Running 28c’s on the V3s but have just put on some 25s to see how they fare.

Came in at about 800 ish all in after selling bits! Pretty pleased with that! People paid silly money for the stuff I sold on ebay – the Claris groupset alone sold for just under 170 quid!!!

Done a couple of 100milers and about 8 100km rides since getting it in March, and generally do 2 25 milers a week with the work guys – who are on Propels / Colnagos / Wiliers and haven’t struggled.

Been ridden more than the MTB’s this year……..

I’ll see if I can stick some pics up later.

I’d take 2 if anyone wants to make some?

Got a super and a spare super mount that’s been adapted using sugru to fit the vent of my road lid

EDIT – black would be good. If anyone wants to knock some up my email is in profile to arrange payment…..

Ordered from bike24.de on Sunday eve, despatched Tuesday from Germany, arrived at work yesterday lunchtime.

DHL all the way through – pleased with the level of tracking and how quick the order arrived!

I’ve passed your email to one of my colleagues – he’s probably sent you a message already.

(Trouble is he’s ginger……that’s not an issue is it?!) (he’s cool with it, so that helps!)

How wet is “a bit wet”?!

Think it’ll dry out nicely in the week? Solo again – hopefully it’s like last year!! ’12 and ’13 were horrible!!

Solo again for me this year.

Anyone know when the course map/profile will be up?

I’ve looked at their FB page and asked there but no response.

Pretty sure it was released much earlier than this for the last few years.

Cloudnine – what tubeless set up are you running? A rim strip or just yellow tape and valves?

Am just about to pull the trigger on some Kinesis CX wheels and wanted to try tubeless on them so any advice on your setup would be great!

I’ve got a control casing, which I’ve found fine, but some people say they are a bit fragile, (not as much as an s-works casing) so if you are hard on tyres you could go for the GRID casing.

You can get a 29er Slaughter – running one on my camber evo with a butcher up front.

Just got my local spesh dealer to get one in for me, but Google says you can get them from JE James, Rutland, and cyclestore.

Not yet!! (At least not when I left for work earlier….)

Getting pretty fed up TBH – and no communication yet on refund of remainder of subscription (renewed at Xmas)

Unless they aren’t sending out subs copies???

    Anyone heard any more?

I’ve heard nothing yet on subscription rebate yet.

They did say that issue 159 (due 23rd April) would be the last on their website – but I’m sure the last issue I got is 158 – anyone else got a final issue through yet??

Fixable at home? Anyone done it before?

I’ve had good success with alcohol gel hand-sanitiser stuff – that evaporates off well.

Although – I have had a pair go “slack” over time – but most pairs I’ve had have been ripped to shreds long before then!

I think I’ve got a black alloy Raceface 32 bash in the garage that’s not being used?

I’ll take a look in a bit – let me know if you are interested?

all the tools plus the full service kit is £70 , so you might as well send it to LOCO for £80 and it will be done professionally .
but to do it at home , you only really need the remote bleed kit and some fluid .
    POSTED 11 SECONDS AGO # REPORT-POST

I could send it off – or buy the tools and then I’ve got them for next time!

It doesn’t look like rocket service to do it – and I like doing stuff myself.

I’ve got the remote bleed kit, so just need to work out if I need the IFP tool as well, and which of the tools tweeks sell.

Turns out Tweeks sell the bleed tool. I’ve ordered one as they’re only £5
    POSTED 15 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

Which bleed tool do you need? I’ve got the same problem with one of my reverbs, so could be a home job now!

Or do I buy all three tools just in case…,..

My Bell Super helmet came with a Go Pro mount.
I don’t have a Go Pro but it would be nice to use the mount for a Solar Storm light.
Has anyone successfully bodged the mount that comes with the helmet to hold a light?
    POSTED 12 MINUTES AGO #

Yup – I’ve done it. Really happy with it. At work at the mo but will upload some pics later to this thread.

Also used a second super/go-pro mount and modified it with some sugru to fit the vent on my road lid, so have the same mount system on both lids!
