I worked on the aerial refuelling equipment on the Osprey – have been on-board, they are pretty cosy in the back! It’s a bit tight!

Currently doing some stuff around turning it into a tanker too – interesting concept!

Heard that the new Diverge is taking on the Roubaix futureshock cartridge.

Few spy shots floating around and the video that Sagan has just done with the muscle car……..

    Wife has already said no……..

Is there a direct mount box rather than a cage n bottle?

Yup! Got one of these on my Camber (pre swat-box version)

Ideal for local short loops, got of of this back-bottle for water – loving riding pack-less for local stuff now!

I have found a few interesting looking deals on diverges. Once 52cm one 54cm. i’m 5″6 so specialized say 52cm. I am not sure how easy it is going to be to get a test ride on one and I am keen to not miss out on one of these deals.

So How do they size up? My initial impressions is that the 54cm may be a bit more appropriate. Can any one offer any advice?

5’10” on a 56cm Diverge here. Fits fine. Also got a 56cm Roubaix disc – pretty much identical in geometry/feel.

Love ’em – would never go back. Hated riding the roadie due to the brakes (they just felt “soft” and I lacked confidence braking) and being spoilt with discs on the MTB for so long.

Bought a bike with cable discs – they were good, but upgraded to hydro – wow.

105 hydro on winter/bad weather/commuter bike and ultegra/RS685 on nice bike. Same calipers on both, so one type of pad required in the spares box.

Shame as it’s my birthday in a couple of weeks time!

    PayPal refund now processed.

Off to see if I can find another deal somewhere else!

I haven’t got one but a chap at work bought one last autumn (after an accident wrote off his “nice” bike) and got this as stop gap commuter/wet weather bike whilst waiting for the insurance to come through.

He’s a proper bike snob (colnago c59 as his nice bike with super record before he was wiped out) and he’s been pretty pleased with the paralane!

He rides it to work daily and does another 50-100 miler every weekend in it at the mo, and his only complaint was the mudguards. Rear one “slapped” the rear tyre over every bump, but he’s put a kink in the stay like the specialized plug and play ones (I’ve got those on my diverge) to stiffen it a bit and no complaints since.

105 hydro hoods are a bit fugly and big, and have a bit of a lump when the hose enters the body under the hood, but he said he doesn’t notice them when riding (nor do I on my diverge)

Have you considered a diverge? I love mine. Not sure how they compare price wise tho!

    Hope that helps!

A civilian company runs test flights out of Doncaster over the North Sea usually, they produce electronic warfare systems….. Dassault Falcons

    Edit

Talking rubbish, I got confused with Darlington…. There’s one off the coast of Hull now

Cobham operated Falcon 20 for EW training. We’ve got a base at East Midlands and our main base at Bournemouth airport.

    Used to fix the F20’s.

Now work on refuelling systems (for Cobham) as used in the A330 voyager.
Airtanker have 14 voyagers – 9 always in use and others can be leased out (like the one to Thomas Cook) and called back in if a “surge” in numbers is req’d

The A400M has strange noise for a prop A/C too! More of a howl, similar to a jet – down to the contra rotating props. It’s a big old bus the “Atlas”!

    Jam bo.

That’s a bit rubbish. I’d heard egg were pretty good on refunds, but that probably pre-barclaycard. Definitely worth appealing tho.

I’ve had both claims accepted by barclaycard and both paid out too now. Second claim they mis-calculated and needed up needing to pay me more!

First claim took about a week, second was about 4 weeks in total (due to recalculated figure and amount due…..)

Merry Christmas for us this year!

Closest I managed was when doing the Fighter Controller course at RNAS Yeovilton.
We got sent up in one of the FRADU Falcons, basically private jets that had performance close to that of the Sea Harriers we were learning to FC for. They were doing practise intercepts, so getting thrown around the sky under the direction of someone on a ship at sea.
Was somewhat concerning to see what you can do with one of them. Why the wings were not ripped of is beyond me.
I was very very sick, but it was worth it.
(I failed the course BTW, generally this was considered a good thing for all those involved in flying aircraft)
POSTED 1 DAY AGO # SHARE

I used to maintain those Falcons. Dassault F20, heavily modified for the E/W role.

Believe me – I’m amazed those things still have wings! I remember my first flight in one – then working out why they came back bent…….

The voyager incident was a bit “interesting”…….from a professional point of view!

Mate of mine works at AirTanker who operate Voyager for the RAF – he was onboard at the time.

I was involved in some of the post incident analysis at work (work for one of the companies who are part of the AirTanker consortium.

Flight control laws saved that A/C……..

I was surprised it was so quick. Maybe it was an easy case to prove mis-selling based on the employee benefits package I had/have?

Had account numbers but no policy numbers.

stated I had been Mis-sold based on my employment at the time and my employee benefits (income protection and sickness benefit) and realised I didn’t need the PPI

Took the cards out when I turned 18 – young and immature with financial stuff, benefit of hindsight I guess!

Remember being sold the PPI in branch, but that was all!

Sat back and let them look into it!

And now – a happy Christmas!

    Update to my earlier post.

Barclaycard PPI claim. (1x Visa, 1x MasterCard)

    First claim settled (MasterCard):
Claim form filled in Monday @5pm ish
Call for extra information Wednesday @ 10am ish
Found out in other info (for Visa card claim) call Thursday @ 10am ish that claim upheld – £1600 quid settlement figure
Text from Barclays 5pm on Friday @5pm ish to say they have paid claim via BACS and will see money in my current account imminently (to call them if not appeared within 10 days) – so I’m guessing money should arrive by middle of next week!
Happy with that! £1600 back for 15 mins online and a 5 min phone call.
Hoping other claim is upheld as exactly the same info/reasons given for mis-selling as above claim – only difference was that’s a Visa card and the upheld claim was a MasterCard.

Yeah, I like the A1. Been really pleased with it. Comfy over long distance, longest ride was 152 miles!

Started out with a basic Claris A1, and stripped it as soon as I got home and rebuilt with 5800 105, RS-685 hydros, kinesis crosslight disc wheels and a cobl-goblr post. Was my main road bike until the roubaix arrived.

Now used as my winter/crap weather/commuter bike!

Hanger was from my specialized LBS for the roubaix.

The specialized concept stores seem pretty good on getting obscure bits when needed.

Can’t speak for the DSW Diverge, but my Diverge A1 is non-scs and takes standard wheels.

Got a Roubaix SL4 disc as well and that was SCS, but a non-scs hanger is available and as such I’ve converted mine to non-scs – I’d imagine the same can be done for the DSW Diverge.

    Hope that helps,

How long between starting the claim (filling in form) and payment arriving?

I filled in form online on Monday, had a call yesterday to ask for more info, then another call today for more info.

2 claims (2 cards from barclaycard) – one relating to extra info call yesterday has been upheld (found out on phone call today whilst giving extra info on other claim – so hopeful that will be upheld now!) and have asked for BACS transfer as still got Barclays current account rather than cheque!

Wondering if cash will appear before Christmas! Ha ha!

My mate Adrian @ swarf cycles does carbon repairs (and does a lot of carbon work too – he built the carbon back end for the Cotic Rocket longshot.

From memory you were Plymouth way? (You bought my old Five frame) – so not a massive way away, couple of hours drive?

If you go Swarf, you’ve GOT to add some mudguards to your order, just because!!!

Oh yes – I’ve got some of the mudguards on my Diverge (one of the first pairs) – they get a lot of admiring glances!

Nope – but Adrian @ swarf is an ex-colleague of mine (he left to set up Swarf)

Alligator stuff is either 5mm (standard) or 4mm (mini)

I’m using mini stuff and it’s same diameter as regular gear outer.

Can get some quite tight radii with it!

Could also try the alligator I-link stuff

I’ve got some of that on the roadie for the internal bar routing.

There’s a guy on eBay who sells bits and bobs of it rather than buying a whole kit:

Anyone reckon it’ll be ok to run “upside down”? Can’t see any reason why not? It doesn’t look like the top of the beam is “clipped off”

Thinking of one for the roadie, with a go-pro to camera mount adaptor (that will screw in the bottom) to fit to the underside of a k-edge garmin combo mount.

I have posted before I think our defense spending should be more like 3% than 2%
BAe and Cobham, amongst others, are going large…

Yup – if there’s one thing that helps push defence shares up……

Bit conflicted – not happy Trump has won, but as a shareholder and employee……..

Just picked up one of the boardman 2-in-1 jackets from halfords earlier.

Looks like it will be a bit sweaty, but man it’s reflective! Lights up like a good ‘un (quick test with a light and the blackout blinds down in the kids room!)

The arms are just like a wing/shoulder zip on affair, but I’ll probably end up just using it as a gilet.

Will report back in the week once I’ve tried it in the road.
