I’ve got the all black (with white decals) one hung up in the garage sans wheels.

Size medium – if you don’t have any joy with the warranty then shout, might be tempted to part with it (to keep the wife happy with the N+1 situation! 🤣)

Can by a 1.6m length here for just over a fiver?

Only 1” wide but ok for a chainstay?

    eBay

That is just a 300mm length, its 1.6mm thick mastic tape…..

Oh yeah…..that’ll teach me for posting too quick!

Yep, grease it! Just a thin coating should do – been using some slick honey on mine (all I hand to hand!)

Yep, they should…..but this isn’t the first I’ve heard of them coming in the bag and not fitted. Same with my Sirrus X – not fitted!

    Me!

It just unscrews – put your palm on it and twist. It’s got a threaded boss on the bottom. Should only be “finger” tight and the collar does the headset tension on the FS1.5

Previously they came fitted with the medium spring, but my replacement cartridge had the three springs separate. Seems to be the way they come know, so good job you spotted!

Ah, cool. Always nice to see your handiwork “in action” as it were.

Honestly – no bother, it’s going to be ace weather all week so hopefully can get a picture in radiant sunshine…..like I say, perfect excuse for a ride!

Will be one evening this week, probably towards the end of the week?

I’m about a 20min ride away (Merley, just outside Wimborne) so I’ll try and take a ride down there one evening this week…..good excuse for a pedal down to the quay!

How many pictures/totems do you need?

Sorry but are we all forgetting that sepecat jaguars had missiles ON TOP of the wings?

Thats school boy rule number one adding more weapons makes it cooler.

Also did they not bolt a gun on to hawks and call it a fighter?

They still do……one of my current projects at work is certifying the integration of MBDA’s ASRAAM missile onto IAF Jaguars…..

EDIT – what they said! 👆🏻

    They are ex-Virgin A340s

Chap down here (Paul Stoddard, European Aviation – he used to own Minardi F1 before it became Toro Rosso)has bought 4, and now leased out to a Maltese company doing PPE flights to/from China.

Two flying at the mo, 9H-EAL and 9H-NHS, with a third joining shortly.

Going out most days, and doing lots of training flights in between Cardiff and Bournemouth.

We live on the flight path so see it pretty much constantly at the mo!

    Me!

Broke a few toes (inc big one) week of lockdown starting – finally healed and binned it on the gravel bike on second ride out post recovery…..

Cue copious gravel rash, Bashed shoulder and a couple of broken ribs. 4 weeks and counting.

I’m more upset that I cracked my favourite lid, ripped the bar tape and scratched up a nearly (sub 10 rides) GRX shifter…..

    2020 can do one!

    Cannondale Trail SL 29 SS?

I’ve got one for winter and kid-bimbling duties , you can pick them up for a couple of hundred quid or so?

One on eBay at the mo (size L) here:

I’ve just (before lockdown!) picked up a Sirrus X4.0 for commuting and trailway stuff with the kids.

Also got a Sirrus X3.0 for the wife, for similar duties.

I was going to get a 3.0 too, as commute is only short but couldn’t have the same as the wife…..😉

Really pleased with both. Mine hasn’t yet commuted in anger as been WFH since the week of picking it up!

V2’s are down to £450 now, anyone run them?

Me! Got a set of 50mm V2 discs on the “summer” bike.

Ok weight wise, lighter out there but more ££
Had them about a year now, think I paid £450 with wiggle discount (was increased at the time so seemed rude not to use it!)

As above – novatec hubs so spares easy to find, and tubeless setup a doddle with tesa tape and some of the lifeline long valves.

    OOps..just bought a pair of 38mm disc v2 for £409… plus £20 for a pair of rotor adaptors…

I’m tempted by a pair for the other bike – or just a second set for the summer bike!

    Thanks,

Old Hayes Nine brakes used to suffer from this – one would wind in and the other out whilst descending……

If you don’t fancy PTFE tape, a bit of low strength Loctite works (222 or similar)

    Cool.

It’s a great bike – my wife is dead chuffed with hers. She’s run it with 28c slicks and the current “gravel” tyres.

Drop me a pm with your email and I’ll get some pics sent across tomorrow/Tuesday if you want? (Not got an account to post with!)

My wife has got a Liv Invite 2.

Currently running a 38c Specialized Trigger (tubeless) up front and a 35c (same tyre) out the back. (Mismatched size as they came off another bike that had clearance issues at the back)

Seem to recall it came with 38c giant tyres as stock.

No guards on it at the mo, but I did have a set of the specialized “plug and play” metal guards on it with plenty of room to spare!

I can measure the width of the guards later if you want?

FSA sleeve on my Roubaix – faultless and creak free for over 4 years and a good few thousand miles.

Basically same experience as all the previous posters – it just works!

I used some Loctite 641 (bearing retainer) and a headset press to fit.

    The Brick & Andysmiff,

I never realised Wimborne was such a hotbed of Gravel fanatics. I’m in Colehill & try to get out 2-3 times a week, mainly over Cranborne towards Blandford & Tarrant Rushton.

Drop me a message if you fancy meeting up at some point.

Sweet – will do! Especially around the tarrant rushton area – never really explored that properly!

Jameso – any plans to bring back the SS version (or any Alfine framesets in a medium 😉)

Slight tweak to my commute means it would be an ideal replacement for my Dolomite SS!

(Or – shameless plug if anyone has one for sale!)

I’ve got one – bought as I’ve started doing long (100k or so) gravel rides, so extra storage is always useful and I liked the fact I could still access rear jersey pockets and the front pockets for stowing gels etc is useful for off-road stuff with easy access

I’m impressed with it – does everything I need and comfortable.
I’ve struggled with camelbaks since a bad collarbone break (since the break I’ve used a charge LR with the lumbar bladder to ease pressure on the site of the break, as straps sit right over the commutated bone) -but this is perfect!

Carries enough fluid for what I need (usually just water in the bladder with an energy drink in bottle on the bike) and the stretchy storage panel/pocket easily allows me to stuff a lightweight rain cape/jacket in.

Only thing I did (well, the MiL!) was to make a longer lower sternum strap as the original one pulled the shoulder straps in a bit too much over my collarbone break.

Just picking up on something Kenny said about being able to afford a mortgage In later life. These days is there an upper age limit lenders generally expect a mortgage to be paid off? We are 47 and 40 and were hoping for a 30yr mortgage.

I think it’s becoming more of an issue – we have just taken a mortgage with the Halifax, (both aged 36) and asked to take a 35yr mortgage so taking it to when we’d be 71 – they would only give us a 33yr mortgage, meaning we’d finish repaying at 69.

Here we go, watch these two FA20’s

Those Falcon 20’s are doing ECW work, doing threat simulation for the military.

Those ones are based at EMA, rest of the fleet is at Bournemouth to cover the southern approaches.

They always fly in 2ship or 4ship formation, with military stuff alongside. (Insider knowledge! 😉)

I’m eyeing up the Pinnacle Dolomite singlespeed. Stealthy – until my breathing gives me away.

I’ve got one of the 2016/2017 blue ones (bought just before the black was annnounced – boo!) and it’s been awesome.

daily commuter, 15-20 miles a day depending on route. fitted some of the full length dolomite mudguards and managed to sell the spyres for virtually the cost of a set of 2nd hand hylex hydraulics on eBay.

Tempted to try a singlespeed imperial century on it next year……

Yep – I fitted one to my Roubaix. Been in since I had the bike (2 years now). Was one of the first things I did when I built the bike up (bought as a frame only)

Used a headset press and some loctite retaining compound and it’s been faultless and creak free for approx 5k miles now. Had a couple of BB’s in that time and no issues at all.

    So far so good:

Target of 4000miles (mix of MTB, Gravel and Road)

Currently at 2257miles (according to Strava it’s 263miles ahead of pace)

That includes 2 weeks off due to illness earlier in the year.

I’ve got one of these fitted:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/fsa-bb30-threaded-adapter-b3119-/rp-prod129935

on my road bike and it’s been great (fitted with a bit of loctite bearing retaining compound)

was running a praxis works screw together B.B. which was grand too, but the bearings got spendy…….
