Call trading standards and get their take on it. Have you complained to him about the car or any of the work at all? Call me a cynic but may there are 2 sides to this story. But reading standards will sort it. Hope you’ve got proof of payment.

I can ride 20 miles in the lakes and be tired. Techy decents sound like fun as I’m looking to improve technically.

Whats your business oldmanmtb? You might be onto a deal there! Afterall i’m in training and what better testimonial than that of a non-believer. Doing work to be repaid in a different way than with money is something i’ve considered as i’m training. For example if I did some work for Hope (not saying they would ever employ my services but thinking big isn’t a crime!) they repay me in Hope components for my bike. Something of little value to them and high value to me. Plus I write about the collaboration on social media.

Miketually – You can’t. but you can be dam sure that if you have no social media presence over your competitors you’ll not get any ROI from that avenue. the likelyhood is that your competition will. Of course there are many other factors to consider but it’s a position that businesses can’t afford to think is OK anymore (If they want to grow that is)

This is all really helpful stuff for me.

[It’s about communicating with your customers – how on earth can that be outsourced?]

My aim is to keep it simple and stick to the markets I know very well. The answer is you can’t communicate with customers effectively if you don’t know the market. so I would concentrate on my passion for MTB and use all my contacts along with my face to face sales skills to drive business there, but ask me to put together a social media campaign for a fishing tackle manufacturer and i’d come unstuck.

There are also other skills i’ll be learning in the background which could be provided as basics. A basic SEO strategy wouldn’t hurt any business if it was implemented. Just Keywords and phrases in titles and descriptions on pages of websites are a small help. SEO itself is only significantly effective if you find someone with years of experience in the subject.

I’ll be building my own wordpress website so I can manage content, links etc

One of the reasons why this market is somewhat thought of negatively is because there are so many cowboys out there claiming to know how to do it. I don’t claim to know how to do it yet but I will give it 100%. Being a social media management consultant on it’s own would seem dull. So if you have the personality and sales skills to enthuse your audience and win them over you’re some of the way there.

    Thanks for all your responses.

Kayla1 it’s ok to not understand it. Whatever people’s views, 90% of the world population are on some kind of social media platform. Whilst you’re entitled to your opinion it’s probay why you’re spending all your time doing the things you do. Working hard not smart. If you connect with customers, partners, advocates and suppliers in different ways then you are more than very likely to benefit from it. I do feel that this kind of attitude is typical of companies who are not very forward thinking, and in particular no nothing about the subject. Ps, as for work shy fop…I’m holding down a full time job and studying in my own time to make something of my life. I remember the founder of our company being told by many that his idea was a bad one when he set up in 2007 with £250k. He’s now worth £80 million so id rather listen to him than some negative comment from a person who hasn’t done well enough to own a house outright. Instead he pays rent

People with a chip on their shoulder that blame the world for everything instead of getting of their axxes and doing something about it.

    People who commit genocide
People who fill mugs of tea/coffee right to the top
People of say ‘oh yeh I remember now’ after the answer is given in a quiz game.
People who appear to suddenly become doctors when you’re ill. I have a cold translates to i’m having kidney failure!

I don’t know what the twins expected to happen. Wouldn’t be embarassed for that, they’re probably well aware of the potential mixups and are having a giggle about it.

My friend and I were both on there, we had some of the same guys contact us (nothing wrong with that BTW), we did find it worthy of a few laughs between friends 🙂

I’ve just read your initial post and skipped to the end. Not my experience but a good friend of mine has been on one or two biking dates. A couple of the guys have gone out of their way to show off/race off in front of her, she won’t be dating them again.

My advice as a woman is firstly don’t focus on this lady being more than she is, she’s just a woman and therefore probably more than open to a normal conversation with you.

Secondly if you get to the riding (?) stage just go at her pace but don’t condescend her by being all blokey and protective.

Its Friday in 2 days, heres hoping to see your post saying you’ve asked her out by then 😛

Flip that is rubbish about life being dull if you took your Mrs around. So what am I to do if I meet a biker, bearing in mind I have a lot of MTB friends all over the country. Should I tell him he can’t join us incase it makes my ride dull? Or are you just labeling females as the gender who would make any ride dull?

    Hey all,

Well as a female, in general I love riding with guys and I don’t give a tot whos faster or slower than me, I just really enjoy myself, even today in the peeing rain and mudfest. 20 of us, mixed gender and mixed ability. It was really good fun!

Dating a biker? I’ve done it and there was no problem at all. I don’t need to be looked after and we both just rode at our own pace, him at the front and me at the back (the only girl in the group)

I agree that if you introduce your partner to your sport for the first time it may cause frictions but as for any problems with dating a biker…poppycock…You just haven’t met the right one…

That is true Sue, you can also do both. I ski, I windsurf, I bike like a maniac, I walk, i’ve enjoyed the unknown of dating. I am a bit knackered though 🙂

Moonwalk? Depends in what context. Moonwalking on the first date I would suggest is a big no no and a bit wierd. Moonwalking whilst bbq’ing sausage sarnies at the top of a mountain after spending 5 hours climbing it with me I would find hilarious!

Oh and while i’m on a roll, black and white pics of women (and men) can hide a multitude of sins. Also the same goes for being able to view their full profile, if you can’t they’re hiding something..in my opinion.

Not a ghost story as such but very touching…

One of my best friends lost her fight with cancer last week, she was only 40.

Last wednesday night her husband knew she didn’t have long left, she was upstairs in their bed and he was downstairs keeping himself busy and checking on her every 10 minutes. He decided to stay awake all night. Unfortunately he fell asleep watching a film downstairs.

He was woken by his wife shaking him on the shoulder, she was in front of him looking as she did before she was ill. He ran upstairs and held her as she died in his arms. She had wanted to say goodbye. Its a beautiful story with a sad ending. 😥

    😉 Lady!

So i’m a dating advice guru now?

supertramp, I think you’ve just about got it!

Shibboleth…take watching tv off your profile as a hobby, don’t go mad on the MTB as some ladies, so i’ve heard can be scared off by too much outdoor adventure, make sure your profile pic shows your whole profile and if you’re bald don’t wear a hat to cover the fact…Heed my advice and you’ll get any woman you want…If you believe what you read on t’internet 😀

Hmmm, maybe you should stop watching corrie and start learning to cook, women like a man who can cook 8)
