Next to cab pedals you will find the rebuild kits hanging next to them. That is not by chance, avoid like the plague. Shimano are used by every one in our club . Faultless

Bonti mud x are a fav in our club. Good in snow. We use ice spikers in the puffer and switch to mud x as soon as there is a good enough line

Not quite sure what you mean by a fulfilled modern life. This is bound to be different for us all depending on your values, upbringing and beliefs.

To the outside world LA was cycling.Systematic doping in cycling had become the norm but LA had built almost a hero status outside our sport both he and his followers believed all the hype around him. His fall from grace to those outside cycling is massive and such gets more coverage than the rest of the dopers because of the sheer scale of the betrayal they feel. Remember millions of people donated money to live strong and bought LA branded kit. He courted media attention for financial gain and now has to pay the price

Had hand pain a few years back after breaking my wrist. Used ergon grips for a number of months and they were great. A few friends use them all the time

jezandu you use America as your bench mark fair enough but l don’t ride in the good role USA l ride in the Scottish highlands. 29ers were built for the mass market of America were the majority of trails are long and flat. Most Americans will never ride a tight twisty single track and have no wish to. You also use the USA xc scene to back up your claims and then say its not about being fastest, sorry on the xc scene that is the only thing that matters and my point is despite a five year head start on us they have produced no riders setting the world alight in fact all wheel size have prod used world cup winners. I don’t see why l would embrace what l feel l don’t need just because it comes uncle Sam.

And American riders are ripping up the xc scene……?.

I ride a 26” anthem and for me it is the perfect bike. For years it has been a bike voted as best in its class then overnight is obsolete ? To me this just reminds me of another sport GOLF. Every year my dad buys a new driver with the promise of more yards and new putters with the promise of lower pars. Every year they fall for the hype, the same thing we do in biking . I like my bike as it is l don’t won’t a 29er. But l do object to manufacturers trying to force me to by a product l don’t want and if it is true that giant are not making 26″ anthems anymore then l will need to make this one last.

Contin trails up in strathpuffer land are routinely sabotaged with logs placed across the trails in the worst/most dangerous places. Had to move about 6 on the decent into the car park today

The size of your daughter is more important than her age. A 14” frame would be the starting point, don’t go fora bigger frame ” she will grow into” . There should be some good deals on the go as its the end of race season. Contact a good local club and see if anyone is selling a bike/frame their kid has grown out of and a good light wheel set always helps

26 ers are dead? Seems word hasn’t reached us yet. Only one rider in are club owns a 29er,well 2 actually. Also happens to be the quickest .l only know about 5 other 29er riders. At the sxc races we attend 26” bikes are still the norm and to be honest the only thing rarer than a 29er on the local trails would be a specialized mtb of any wheel size

Seems to be a theme running in a couple of threads just now. The lbs may not be the cheapest or the quickest
But there is a lot more they do from supporting riders to putting on local events and having a focal point for riders to meet. I for my sins work at the most hated bike chain on this forum and as such appreciate a good lbs and support them as much as l can

Avoid like the plague. The levers need constant adjustment as they seem to wind in for no reason. Buy shimano deore you won’t regret it.

Must be ocd as l wash my bikes after most rides and strip to frame every 6-8 weeks rebleed the brakes and change all gear cables. Why ? Because l enjoy doing it and l like my bikes to run perfect when l ride them. Most of all it keeps wear and tear costs down

I have to agree with the first post,l have tried the road on fantastic bikes but don ‘t get it. the lads l ride with have road bikes as do all the guys l coach. They use them to improve their fitness for xc racing, but try as much as l can it still sucks. Maybe some of us will never get it. My riding mates put it down to my distain of all things roadie.

Only know 2 five owners neither are middle class but one drives an audi. Both are way better riders than l will ever be. Yes they get stick but its all good. I don ‘t get fives, for me there are far better lighter choices, for them its orange fives only, think they were dropped on their heads at birh. Love the orange owner baiting, stops people picking on my Giant
