Started in Eastbourne at Midnight, and rode home, at the other end. It was great! Only irony is I got a little lost at Winchester Hill, but I knew my way around from riding there on other singletrack. Make sure the weather is dry, and make sure you ave enough food and fluids to last, as the shops o the way are off the main route, and you won't want to detour. If you are going e-w be prepared to feel like its all up hill! But it's stunning and fun all at the same time! Best of luck! Oh, and check out the websites out there on riding the SDW, as things like water points etc are easy to miss!

of course!, but any non cheeky trails being chased out by local land owner brandishing HCC labelled pitchfork?

Mind you, how they would catch a rider is beyond me!

SFB, not all of us have the pleasure of living close to such great riding as you do. In the south it is vastly different, the winter bolt hole; swinley, is now a morasse of mud and knee deep puddles, and if I ride locally on the South Downs, then i have to pedal hard to go downhill, as the chalk turns to treacle in thismuch rain. Mojo is hiding behind the turbo trainer. But I agree with y'all, single speed is the way to go fir the winter!

I have a nomad for sale, does that help? Not too far from Soton as it happens.

I am spooked at this thread! Recently decided I want out of queing on the m3 and m25 and wnat to get back out in the air. First choice: triumph tiger 955i. Second choice Triumph speed four, and a friend is selling his monster on eBay right now, but don't fancy a naked street brawler for a 90mile round trip commute. So as you can tell, feeling kinship right now. Isn't mid life crisis fun!

I am not enjoying it. Worried that the new owners won't treat them like I do.

It took a lot of time and energy to put them together, but I can't deny I don't use them enough.

And now I have a new wish list, which oddly enough is based on a Triumph kitty. I am obviously right in the middle of my mid life crisis!

More sad that his 50 year career is summarized as ' that bloke what was pretending to be Dick VD's dad in Chitty chitty Bang bang'

very sad. I bet there were loads of other things he was vastly more proud of.

Agreed, but not scared if doing hard stuff, did SDW in one day(just) I just suffer from boredom and I like tasting food. If it tasted great and had no calories I would be a happy chap!

ChrisS, it is, but function over lusting for a luscious curry will keep my mind on the prize.

Also, hoping hunger pangs will only last so long as my intake slows down, and my body adjusts to the lower shovelling quotient (Think Garfield vs Lasagne).

If you can make this re-adjustment a fun thing, you may well have the recipe for a fortune!

It's called MyNetDiary, and its free. Based on american, which has to be a good thing, as the calorie count should be up on European foods. Works well I think.

I have blown the dust away, and fitted a smooth blue hoop to aid turbo…

I have to say the words of encouragement are really great, Thanks!

I have just started counting calories, wonders of an iphone, and scared myself with calorie intake on a 'I've been watching what I eat day!

I am thinking positively now, and will include calorie counting in my daily routine.

No more diet coke in the office, just water…

Fancy a slog around Farley in the mud Tim, some time this week?

    Old Git Smell chips?

Tea will do do just fine, thanks for the offer.

Used to run XC in the last century, but even being good at it didn't make it fun!

Surely 250 Calories from a turbo session is the same as 250 calories from wearing my knees out and getting hairline fractures in my legs?

I was tempted to take a trip to the Newcastle Hospital, as I heard from a mate that the Norvo virus is out and about in there. Desperate measures eh?

Doctors do seem to take great pleasure in being smug about life.

    Gits.

    Cheers All

    Concerted effort initiated.

Checked out the foodfocus website, and I've got 1 year 2 months of gradual, reduction in blobbyness to go, by removing just 500 calories a day.

    Right!

I think going to a more scientific level with this will help. But I'll be damned if I'll stoop so low as low fat yoghurt and weight watcher meals!

    Weigh it….

Right, time for a cup of tea ( no milk) and smaller plates for dinner.

Thanks, that sounds like sage advice.

It really is a war with my will power, and if I break it down to rudimentary specifics, it will help.

    I hope

I wish this was going to be easy 🙁

According to the Wii I am a beach ball with legs.

According to the doctor, I'm fat enough to die ( actually a little worried as elder bro is diabetic, so I want to miss that if I can)

I could lose 6 stone and become a whippet. That would be great!
