Hope I did’nt give the impression we were peeved by clumsily finding our way into an exercise 😯

Just hope to find a way of planning round their activity in the area, as its a great place to ride, and it gets dark a lot at the moment.

Is there anywhere to find out if exercises are planned? Or anyone to ask?

thanks brassneck, but he is statemented already, so its a defined ASD issue. The future is bright, but not sure yet, where the light source is…main stream or not.

Ski, thanks and tell me about it!

that is also on my mind, it has to be there, but I hope not….but I am a realist

I thought it was a good idea to place him in mainstream, and TBH, there are limited school choices at his age group, but also he has got a lot out of being in mainstream too.

I suppose our choice will be mostly made on what makes the most sense.

Hardest thing is trying to plan effectively for his future education needs.

Thanks, food for thought for sure…

Now will start to look at Autism schools, as he is not making friends that come and play, but then he doesn’t value friendships like that yet.

he moved to year two this year. But it’s a little more structured compared to yr1, so you’d think this was a good thing from an Autistic viewpoint.

The book is a great idea, and I’ll action on that one.

Break times are a concern, but I have no idea whats happening, but then I’d expect some confrontation issues with kids not in his immediate peer group, due to not being exposed to special needs in their year groups…this is probably where I want to investigate most…

He has 2 assistants, one in the morning, one in the afternoon.

Both are lovely, and have yet to suffer the wrath of ‘the slow piranha!’

Or maybe he’s grown out of that

aka_Gilo, Where is the best place for us to meet?

Oldgrump is joining us for a cuppa on the border, or dipping his toe just over the border…so it would be good to make it a sociable destination, rather than just a ubiquitous motorway service station…

    Thoughts?

I know what you mean, but it’s almost a sensitive point as they are doing so much already. If you understand what I’m trying to say.

It’s more of the subtle insinuation that this means…

    10ish is fine by me.

    Coffee orders?

That means we’ll be getting to Wales at about midday.

Do we have a decision upon meeting location there?

29th works better for me too, as the traffic back east, in the evening/afternoon will be a lot better than Sunday.

I’m not dictating terms though, so is there an issue with the 29th for anyone?

Don’t they have a USB out?

Personally would just start again. Digital Rights Management gets in the way and makes life harder to manage your own purchases.

Hence why I ripped to mp4 which can be used on most devices.

I assumed the OP has a computer.

Mp4s are then transferrable to most devices.

PP I was thinking we could meet basingstoke way and head over from there. Agree it would b o just get there and enjoy the tour.

Rather than m4, we could go on the a4, bu it would take longer….

It’s a shame shedbrewed can’t make it. I’ll raise an ice-cream to your absence on the day.

    Hope the Guzzi makes it.

Blimey TJ! Not far off this predicament myself. It’s not easy out there right now. Chin up, and best of luck. I hate to see good people down. You live a long way from the Saaaarf and I don’t work on your field, but if I can help, let me know!

bump in search of getting our two intrepid trail blazers working together so we can start getting excited upon our route 😀

Also, do we want to start planning who is coming from where, and meeting on the way?

PeterPoddy and Mrs Poddy and I come from Hampshire, so presumably could meet on the way?

Could try to make the trip over to the west(ish)country less of a square off rear tyre session and more of a fun filled run?

Anyone else from the Saaarth coming?

uk prices are a rip off!

you fit the same size. on the continent they have steel wheels for winter use, just to protect their alloys. some go skinnier, but that’s up to you. they are not snow tyres, just more silicon and more aggressive tread pattern, so give better grip in temperatures below 7degrees.

Can I suggest that Shedbrewed and aka_Gilo get together, so we get just one route?

i have a diesel vw camper. £12k, and the engine is a 1.6td which gives me a max of 36mpg.

    i love my van.

if you want to get to far away places, buy a skoda estate diesel, bet 50+mpg and cheaper tyres, insurance etc, and get biking

Reason for asking was to see if you could get to the team I did my DAS with, in Surrey, but I think not 😀

Basically, it’s worth digging around to find out who is well respected in training circles in your area. A good start would be IAM or ROSPA,

Just be careful, because not all schools are the same. The best schools have good bikes, and gear you can borrow to stop you shelling out a fortune before you know it’s for you.

CBT is designed to scare you, and if you then ride about, being highly aware of the risks, then it’s done it’s job.

Get on a DAS course as soon as you can. Get your license and then book time with n instructor to learn how to ride, and not how to pass mod 1 and mod 2.

It all seems way complicated, but you’ll be joining a brilliant part of society that just reserves the right to love noise, 2stroke exhaust fumes and knows where to get the best burgers and a brew between Inverness and Gibraltar.

I hope you enjoy the experience, and at the very least it should make you a better driver. It did for me

The more the merrier ( if that’s how you spell it).

Looking likely to be 29th October, that’s a Saturday.

Shedbrewed: I’ll leave the details up to you, but remember a few of us will be doing a couple of hours before we meet and then to get home again, so it’s more of a social than a marathon. If the blackstuff is as good as I hope, then we can go again in the summer, to do more, for longer.

I think Saturday is best as less nutters in cages going back to London in the evening.

PP we could do the Shrewsbury twisty bits on the way back…
