In my simplistic view, it is whole heatedly abused, so abolish it, and then create another way for all of those unable to pay for justice. Set guide lines to make sure ambulance chasing actions become a thing of the past.

Also in my simplistic view it would better serve us all to remove liability in regards to RTAs and just let the Police bring action against individuals at fault, and only then allow compensation to be argued upon. That way frivolous cases would stop.

Simplest truth: you can’t trust the public at large to always do the right thing, so police it.

I feel passionate about this, I suppose its because the common decent public are being taken for a ride on all counts, and there seems to be no mechanism to keep this in check other than the pillars of capitalism through the threat of competition.

Don, my question in reasonable terms is why is this all suddenly necessary!

I know this is all about risk etc, but who was the useless gimp that first decided to take advantage, and why are we the victims of this self fulfilling nightmare.

Its the same for insurance costs the world over. Surely the point of insurance is about protecting the innocent, hence it’s legal requirement in most cases. At what point did it become a gravy train for the morally and ethically challenged!

    exactly.

It gets on my wick. Just like the silly stickers plastered all over bike kit, to pre-empt law suits upon the use of lights, pedals and or even cycling itself! I mean who would buy a 29er carbon frame for $OOdles without first knowing how to ride?!!?!?!!!

The world as I want it has gone to bed and isn’t coming out to play 😥

its sad that schools think in terms of liability so as a result kids think in terms of not being good enough.

I hope you get your little chap out and about soon Charlie, with a smile on his face to boot!

me thinks the later is the heavy clutch issue. The milkyness is due to a short commute. Solution:

change basket and plates and move further away from work, preferably down some quiet winding country lanes with grippy tarmac.

once lived in a complex of maisonettes. My neighbour had a small garden with flimsy wooden trellis as a wall. The postie kept on leaving the post outside the gate, in the main passage way. One day, he was caught in the act, and asked why he wasn’t posting the letters through the door. The answer given was that the notice on the gate said beware of the dog. Somewhat flummoxed, my neighbour explained that the printed notice (in a clearly legible large font) said:

Please post letters in the letter box, Thank you.

He also added that they had never owned a dog!

    Ho hum….

Not much mud yet,and my autumn gearing may well soon have to be re geared to summer numbers of teeth, my legs just can’t keep up

    Excellent

    Any others?

Poddys – I understand, it is an added loop pof about 40miles to head south, and it makes no sense. I’ll see you there, or on the way, but then you may just be a metallic grey Italian blur

I have spent far too much of my life on motorways commuting, and although the commute is annoying, and sometimes harrowing, I personally hate driving any great distance on a weekend, as the quality of driving seems to hit a new depth of stupidity. When driving up from Winchester to the Swinley Love in a few weeks back, on that 29 degree scorcher day, there were no less than 7 rear end shunts, on the southbound side as everyone and their dog was heading for the beach, in 20 Miles 😯

    c’mon people!

Copy the list and add yourself to it, then repost

Can everyone coming from over from the east say where they intend to meet up on the way?

I’ll be at Sainsburys’ at 8am, and after a swift coffee, shall set off for Aust.

If we leave at 9am, we should be fine for time 😉

No worries. I was counting coffee slurping and faff time. It’s about an hour and a half on the m4 from Winchester probably.

Bumped to get all of those thinking this might be fun but are too scared to commit!

Trust me, welsh roads are as smooth and curvy as you’d ever want, and attract us motorbike types just as much as the jcb built mtb trails scattered across them welsh hill sides. 😀

Come join the party……you know you want to.

And to those who’ve already put their bikes to bed for the winter i say:

Go into your garage/take that cover off your bike when you get home tonight, look your bike straight in the eye and say you don’t want to ride twisty grippy roads rubbing out those chicken strips on some wonderful welsh blacktop!

    see you out there 😀

The clue is in the text. Precedent is set. I’d say that was an automatic pink ticket! (permission to roam off campus unaccompanied)

Would you wish to meet us in Winch or try and spot us on the way? Or just head straight for Aust?

Andy – its just about being aware of your surroundings and being polite.

I’m always polite. As far as being aware, it was once we had been warned of trip wires that we suddenly saw bodies on the ground all over the place.

TBH, the only clue was the barrier to the land near star wars was open when we started the ride.

Hope we didnt upset the exercise
