There’s a curry house called The Royal Bengal we went to with about 20 odd blokes on a stag do a few years ago. Was okay (although they did put us upstairs away from everyone else. Can’t think why…).

Benji – our 11(ish) year old Heinz 57 mutt. Likes to chase rabbits/voles/birds/anything small that moves too much to be a proper trail dog.

    Gore Fusion,

Like 2 gloves in one as they’ve got 2 chambers for your hands depending on how cold it is: one without insulation, one with. And they’re very waterproof: Had mine for 2 winters now and if they ever stop working I’ll be getting another set.

Pricey, but worth it. I was in the Lakes doing the Borrowdale Bash back in March time when it was lashing down all day (snowing on the higher parts). Hands were warm and dry all day. -10 deg commute a few years ago – could probably have done with another thin liner but my hands weren’t freezing cold, just chilly.

The Steamboat Inn further long the coast at Carsethorn is okay. There’s a wonderful cafe on the High Street, think it’s called the Granite Kitchen. You also need to pop to Neilson Brothers butchers up by the river and have one of their homemade steak pies – gobsmackingly good (can you get me one or 3 too?).

The low swing arm of a 5 will make either design stick almost straight up, so I suspect it may well be less effective than on other frame designs. I’d suggest using the 29r version, as it’s a little longer. This works well on my Nicolai.

They do an Orange specific version just for this reason, and the massive swingarm.

Mudhuggers are great. Got them front and rear, no clogging issues but then I’ve only got 2.1″ tyres on.

You change your car every 20 weeks? 8O

Or 40 weeks if it’s just 100 miles total a day. Still 8O

Gutted for the Rat. That photo of his foot is not nice. But he’s young enough to bounce back (no pun intended).

Here’s the jump from a different angle – one bike length too far.

Hope he heals up soon for next year.

Great racing though, was absolutly bonkers.

    I blame climate change.

Making this lunch hour more interesting than usual though. Think Ritchie is a bit annoyed…

    So that’s what happened…

Been dipping in and out over the past few days noticing threads kept disappearing complaining about people getting banned. Was reading one this morning that got deleted as I went to the 2nd page. The good vibe has now gone from (what was) a friendly forum that was a good place for a bit of a laugh/advice.

Oh crap, my username is the same here so if Gunner/hugo15 reads this I’m next.

Hmm… 2 more threads disappeared. The humanity!

May 17th when I tore my right adductor muscle (inside thigh at the top). 2 days after that I tore the calf muscle in the same leg…

    It’s making me :(

The deadwater is receiving a bit of TLC at the minute so sections of it are closed. What parts of it are open are still worth riding though – some great stuff. Whatever you do don’t bypass the blue – the note about it being suitable for tagalongs is a load of crap. After the initial fireroad climb it transforms into the most wonderful, fast, flowing singletrack. It’s a great ride out and if it had more jumps / drops (i.e. a red grade) people would rave about it.

Skydive (last part of the lonesome pine) is a fast, flowy red grade (nothing techy on it though) descent.

After an all dayer combining 2 trail centres:
    http://www.strava.com/activities/94381794

You could ride from Leaplish on the lakeside way to the trail head – it’s about 8 miles IIRC.

Plenty of natural stuff too although you’ll need a guide / ask at the bike shop at the trail head.

    Don’t forget your insect repellant.
