My Anger has now turned to sadness as, watching the video again you have to understand that 650b has’nt come from the marketing department at all…..Its actually come from the accounts department.

There is no way im riding a bike because an accountant tells me to

Oh and did you notice what the guy from Giant says at the beginning : ‘ We realised that 29 inch wheels wasnt right for all Markets and err riders ‘

says it all doesnt it? – its just about Markets, and im guessing he is referring to the Asian ones. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Dont do drugs kids..

Really? The taller rider on a 16″ frame or above will suit a 29 inch wheel.

Also, the Giant guy saying 29ers are dead must pain all those who were taken in by the previous industry BS.

I am really annoyed with Giants stance on this, at the end of the day i’ve bought Giant Bikes for the past 10 years, which eqautes to 6 Road and mountain bikes. I love the way Giant bikes ride and they are good value..BUT im really p1ssed off with the attitude of the company now with this 650b format, and plan to write a very to the point e-mail to Giant UK to express my anger / dissapointment. If i dont get a satisfactory response ill never buy a Giant Bike again. SIMPLE AS!!

Perhaps the 27.5 should be marketed as an “average” bike with the 26″ and 29″ at either end of the scale….

    ^^this x1000

[quoteHas any one bought a Giant 29er recently…oops[/quote]

Yep i bought two, both really good bikes too which confuses me even more why they are so aggressive towards 26 and 29??

Im waiting to hear what Specialized have to say on the matter, that will be interesting..

The lady from Trek and the guy from Hargroves made the most sense on that vid in my opinion

Are you eating enough during and post rides? It could be a lack of glycogen, and / or adaquate rest.
Hydration makes a huge difference too, pee should be clear and all that!

I’m on the bottom rung of the car scheme at my company and get around £780 per month, plus home to work and business mileage.

So whats it like at JP Morgan anyway?

No, it’s £8.50. Or the price of a gallon and a half of fuel.

Good for locals, however a trip to Bedgebury costs me £50, still worth it though but i wouldnt be able to do it more than a few times a year

When I see a £6k super bike I’m straight over to look at it, not for a moment do i resent it’s owner, I always think fair play for putting the graft in to treat yourself to a nice bike. Same with nice cars.

    +1

I love looking at expensive bikes, and to ride one is a real treat. But to own one? No thanks, not anymore i owned what i deemed to be an expensive bike a few years back (4k) but did’nt enjoy riding it because it just felt so fragile, and i actually felt a certain amount of guilt too… sure i worked and earnt the money to buy it, but it didnt make me any happier on the trail than my £700 Giant at the time..

Touran TDI,s are a safe bet and the more economical of the MPV crowd, would definitely check out the Qashqai too, very reliable and nice to drive – only let down by a cheapish interior, but still a good car

Ridden CAT 1’s and 2’s but not in UK. Didnt notice much difference between the two to be honest, just pure pain..and seem to go on forever..nothing like that in UK

I think this could work to the benefit of 29ers. If people accept that bigger wheels are better its just a matter of time before the newbie 650b owners will be looking for bigger wheels, to further the benefits of taking the step from 26 to 27.5… All 29ers need is a lighter wheel in most cases to bring the trail alive.

At the end of the day as we get fitter we want to ride faster, and will spend good money on the right equipment to do it…

Then again i might be wrong

I think it would be better if it rained in the run up to the event, but then was dry during the event as the number of riders quickly creates a dry-ish line. It’s when it rains during the event that conditions get worse and worse.

It has rained, but it was needed as the trails were very sandy. I would say now they are almost perfect for racing. The Forecast for the weekend is clear skies at 19 degrees day and 11 at night. Unless there is a biblical downpour, expect a very dry and sandy course in places. And a fantastic nights racing. I really wish I was fit enough to race it this year.

As mentioned Racing Ralphs front and back would be the best tyre choice for Thetford. Although the fast and experienced Thetford guys will probably be racing on even shallower treads (freds etc…)

I think there should be another poll, on where we all live. I never see on-ones on the trails around where I live? Is on-one a northern thing?

Love my Anthem x 29er, its the best bike ive ever owned- and its also the heaviest! 29ers do offer a very different ride to 26ers, are they better? Probably not, just different.

If you like distance riding and all day adventures, then id say a 29er is where its at.
If you want to jump and flick a bike around on techy trails then a 26 is prob better.
Never ridden a 27.5 so cant comment on that

Was there Monday for a couple of laps of the red, running very well indeed dry and very fast.
Bear in mind though there are a couple of sections of trail that were / are closed for maintanance, im not sure what the sections are called but they are towards the end of the red route. There is a diversion and it didnt ruin the flow too much.
I had’nt been there for a couple of years and the trail has really improved with the new features and trailbuilding, so well done Bedgebury pixies!

The only accurate information Strava gives is for self-comparison.

    This ^^

There are simply too many variables on Strava to take it too seriously. CX bikes, dirt bikes etc etc. Just use it as a training tool, and if you really want to test yourself against others, enter a race.

My collie pup did exactly the same thing, we got stressed out and started giving her cooked chicken..which made it worse, as she became even more fussy. Pups do tend to fast over a few days, our vet told us it was quite common, and if his health appears to be normal you really have nothing to worry about.

Ive always kept bikes in my room using Travelodge and never been pulled up on it. Maybe if I left the room with mud and oil everywhere it may have been different, but as im aware the only things not allowed in the rooms are Pets and Prostitutes

The original SIS gels (not with caffine) are good, with the right water mix. That said i only use gels for racing, wine gums and fruit pastles are just as effective for a tempo ride

The most important is a SD card or it wont work at all!
I would go minimum 32GB, which would give you roughly 30 mins of footage at the highest res.

For mtb’ing definitely a chest mount, I paid £30 for the official Go-Pro one at amazon

Very depressing newspaper, if you combine reading it with listening to 5 live is the ultimate sadness in my opinion
