Important games to me are ones that give an adrenalin boost to the industry rather than just being groundbreaking.

Elite is a groundbreaking game but i wouldnt say it was a revolution – so id go with.

Super mario bros – Gameboy / SNES
    Tomb Raider- utter brilliance
Tetris – try to put it down on the gameboy!
Doom / Quake – which spawned a zillion games inc Call of Duty
Outrun- the only game you had to que for at the local muzzies!

Got a 2010 model, nice bike. Very stiff and quick. The only reason not to buy one would possibly be the sizing. I rather fustratingly fit between M and ML sizing, took me loads of fettling and a stem change to get the right fit. So would recommend getting a bike fit done if possible. Most LBS’s do this

I havent ridden the ‘dale. But i am/ was in a similar position to you a couple of months back.
I went for a Giant XTC composite 0 and have fallen in love with it hook line and sinker.

    – Its quick, but doesnt feel quick. This was a problem on my first rides where i had a couple of ‘offs’ on familiar corners. I was approaching them at higher speeds than previously.

    – what i thought were casual loops turned out to be PB’s with no fuss!

    – For XC i would go with narrower bars maybe 580mm, ive got 660mm at the mo and it can feel a bit of a tank when i gets tight.

    – ive read again and again that you can swap your short travel FS 26er for a 29er hardtail. Not true. a 29er hardtail is still a hardtail. I wouldnt sell my 26 Epic in favour of this. It simply hasnt replaced the Epic.

    – 29ers are really distance machines. I feel i could ride all day on my 29. There are some XC courses that i still feel a 26 would be quicker on.

    – Again ive read you can get away with less grippy tyres on a 29er, because they have better traction. I found there was no difference in this to my FS 26. So ive gone with the same tyre combo Nics F+R with better results.

Overall i really like the bike, and so glad i took the 29 plunge. I have no doubts that on a majority of UK trails 29 is the way forward.

Running is very much like marmite. In my experiences you have to do it fairly regularly to enjoy it. The fitness benefits are far more pronounced than cycling though. I struggle to get max HR on a bike wheras i could get there running very quicky indeed. And getting back from a run i always feel ive had a good workout, which cant always be said for the bike.
There is an essential accessory for runners though…music. Its mind numbing without a good set of tunes.

29ers definitely quicker On paper but just not very exciting to ride I vote for xcstu’s stumpy s-works – wish I never sold mine. Such a exciting quick bike.

[quoteFord will give you £1500 towards your deposit if you take out their finance which is actually more than the interest you will pay.[/quote]

VW will give you 2k towards your deposit on a new golf and many dealers are topping that up too. The monthly payment would also be less than the ford equivalent and you get 3 yes servicing for £149. Better hurry though as stocks are getting low…

You can complement hill reps with spinning and it will help with cardio, I found a real improvement in keeping up the pace when you get to the top and your hr is at max, helps to keep pushing.

If your coming from an i device it may annoy you, it has with me.

Carbon 337 I’ve experienced no such problems with mine, its far more reliable than my iPhone 5 that I’ve had endless problems with crashing

    Anthem x 26er here.
I’ve got rocket Ron 2.1 on the front and racing Ralph 2.1 on the back. Unless its raining on the day you could stick with that combo for the whole race series without worry. Can’t imagine a 29er needing different

I used to buy every issue and then went on to subscribe when i found it difficult to locate a copy in the shops (must be an essex thing!)

Trouble is recently , and certainly within the last 6 months or so the mag has become more and more leftfield in the writing and the product reviews in particular. Bike reviews are a big part of the mag for me but im just getting a bit tired of the ’boutique brand’ attitude of the mag (i mean a liteville 301 WTF?) and despite being on the singlespeed simplistic bandwagon for some time all we seem to get is long travel sull sussers, to which there are only a hadfull of trail centres in the UK where they can be used to their full potential anyway.

I think the mag cant decide what it wants to be. MBUK for hippies maybe?

Also some of the photography is quite dull and it always looks like the riders are fed up, wet and cold. In this respect WMB gets it right – wheras its catering for the mainstream it does have a very upbeat feel to it wheras STW always feels down in the dumps.

There have been some great articles in the past, i especially like the racing tips and features you have run, and although Matt Harts writing can be annoying some of his articles have been very useful to me. And the product reviews were relevant to everybody. Im sure a singlar Buzzard is a fantastic bike but ive never met anybody that actually bought one or in fact knows where to buy one within a 100 mile radius…

    rant over

Great review and I don’t think anybody should underestimate how hard 76 miles is on the downs so well dOne, I wouldn’t worry about the miserable gifts they exist in all events, they are probably just p1ssed off they aren’t getting the extra 2mph they were promised from the new 7k bike they just purchased

What was is about the Citigo that made you buy it? As fustrating as it is late deliveries do occur ( i work for a VW retailer) . Its quite often due to a component shortage. Did your Citigo have any extra equipment/ options fitted to it when you ordered it. There has been a supply problem on the maps and more units – that may have affected your car. Normally if there is a delay on specifics the dealer is notified by the factory on the dealer placing the order, the information should be passed on. It could also be a logistics issue.

One thing you can do is ask the Skoda dealer for the SLI order number. Enter it in this application. At least you will be able to see where the car is http://www.trackmyskoda.co.uk/

Just have a think before doing anything too rash. The up is the same in many respects but you must have chosen the Citigo for a reason.

That said if you want an UP let me know! :-)

Did you have an estimated date of delivery on your order form, and did the sales / business manager sign it?

Down south the 26ers are in the minority!

I would say its the other way around…if you are refering to xc races that may be true but on recent trips to bredgbury and the downs it was 26 all the way!!

It’ll take anoher couple of years to notice a difference
