Same as you allyharp. Going to pop in after work today, they’re probably sat there but none of the Bikehut chimps have thought to tell me. Gonna push for a discount for the wait/inconvenience!

Assuming it’s a hardtail, same rule and then check it on all cogs.

I too struggle like crazy on uphill stuff, hence why I’m mainly a downhiller! Obviously losing weight will be your biggest gain on them, but just getting out and riding will make a big difference too. The best way to gain cycling fitness is to get on your bike, and as suggested, throw some hills in the for fun ;)

Mine should’ve arrived in store to collect today…but they haven’t. Now I remember why I don’t buy anything bike related from Halfords!

Britain hasn’t got talent. We’ve got high unemployment and an awful public transport system!

I have an Orange 224 (not a 222 I know, but near enough the same) and it’s an awesome bit of kit. I’m not a smooth rider, and I crash a lot, and it’s still going strong, it eats anything you throw at it! Mine has bounced down mountains, off trees, rocks and anything else you can imagine on a downhill track, I love it, so I can thoroughly recommend an Orange!

I have the E13 LG1 Trail chain guide on my 1×9 hardtail, BB mount so just replaces one of the spacers on your BB, took minutes to fit and works a treat. Fairly expensive to buy new, but fish about on eBay/classifieds and you’ll pick one up for about £45.

It’s carbon, and a road bike, no sympathy from me ;)

In all seriousness, I’d be devastated if I’d done that, could have been a lot worse though!

I prefer them to the rigid 29er b******s I see on here all the time!

Don’t waste your time on Skyline, Whites Level and the Wall are both good though.

Anyone happen to know the name/number of this curry house?!

J, I will indeed see you there! I’ll be in a green Land Rover (£5 per car for a tow out on the Sunday evening!)

I’m looking forward to swimming my way down the track, the weather looks unpredictable…should be a lot of fun!

Nukeproof armour is amazing. I use it for DH but its comfy enough to wear all day for trail riding.

Anyone who genuinely believes that description and buys it should be shot! I like the bit about having to spray a lot of bikes in a short time. Pretty sure they knew the Olympics was happening for a few years, dick split! It’s a nice touch on the chain as well, chains definitely work better when they’re solid with paint!

Second hand is the way to go, bmx-forum.com used to be good, although I’ve not been on for ages.

Ride.io, the mountain bike king.com (without the spaces, the forum censored it as one word for some reason. The mods suck!)

Stayed here last August mate, 10 minute drive to Fort Bill, really cool guys run the place. We sweet talked them into letting us lock the bikes up too.

I know someone selling a Demo 8 for about 2K if that’s any good?

I’ve been tempted by their bikes a few times, but asset the hassle I’ve heard of, I wouldn’t buy from them out of principal.

I bought a ‘tarpaulin’ from Ebay for my boots, 6ftx10ft (I think) and it cost me about 5 quid. Does the job just nicely!

The Clarks prelubed kits from CRC are spot on, come with loads of cable ends and dirt sleeves etc, look pimp in the carbon finish too ;)

Another downhiller here, only just seen this thread. Live in Bucks, so Aston Hill is my usual riding spot, but FoD, Cwmcarn, Fort Bill, Hamsterley are all places I’ve ridden/plan on riding again. I ride a fairly old/battered Orange 224, did my first race last October, got a fair few planned for this year. I’m by no means fast, but it’s a good crack and I can dick about since we don’t have the snobbishness of road riding and stuff. If anyone in the south east area/midlands etc fancies a ride out some time gimme a yell, there’s a few of us ride most weekends.

I use washing up liquid in my Park chain cleaner thingy, rinse with water afterwards, good as gold!

Sounds about right, 10 minute job providing you have the right bolts for the bash guard. E13 guards are the nuts, but it’s personal preference really.

As a full face user with a weird shaped head, you definitely need to try them on!! The Urge is a good fit for me in a Small, but I had to wear a Medium THE helmet. It’s worth the drive to somewhere with a decent range of lids and good advice to get the right one rather than trying to save money by guessing and regretting it later on.

100mphplus, I agree with you entirely when people whinge about frames cracking. Any frame will crack if you ride it like a bell end into a tree haha, Commencals are lush!

Back on the subject, I wouldn’t even buy new tbh. With 3 grand you could buy an immense 2nd hand DH rig. I know that’s what I’d do!

    Try bikeactive.com

They have a good range of bikes, usually have some clearance deals on, and I think they do 10% off for Facebook “friends” :)

I’ve been (wishfully!) looking at them for a while, if I didn’t have a huge credit card bill to pay off (damn getting married!!) I’d have ordered one a while ago. I’ve seen lots of people with Canyons recently, so they must be doing something right. Rose Bikes do decent specs for a good price too, could be worth checking them out?

The fit of the MF shoes is awful! I’d go with Wiggles own brand (DHB) shoes, they’re just a good as my Northwave shoes, but only 35 quid. The carbon sole option it’s slightly more, but excellent shoes!

Like curiousyellow said, I’ve been using the Nukeproof knee and elbow pads, they’re brilliant, best pads I’ve ever used! Very comfy, they don’t move about, and they’re reasonably priced!
