So I took a punt and bought a Buffalo, turned up this morning, seems a really good fit, so hopefully it performs nicely this coming winter! Thanks for all the help and advice guys, sounds like I may need to treat myself to a Montane jacket too though…

Cheers for all the replies, much appreciated. It’ll be one for really cold days and keeping in the hill bag for the rest of the year by the sound of it. Being from Scotland though it rains all the time, so it’ll certainly get used!

Excellent, cheers for the replies. Won’t be using it for riding, mostly for hill days in Scotland all year round and evenings at races etc.

They’re ok to an extent. I find that they chafe a lot between my thumb and index finger if I’m on the bike all day. Chinned them off and went back to ODI Vans grips.

Worth a punt for the money though, and if you get on with them then bonus :)

100% Accuri. Cheap, loads of different lenses available, perfect :)

Sorry, to clarify, they’re TALAS FIT CTD’s. And I’m getting full travel, just it doesn’t ramp up very much, so feels very `divey´…hope that makes more sense of it.

    These reducers?

If that is a replacement top cap, I’m confused how the air/CTD works, as it looks like a plain cap?

Read about the oil in the air chamber, is that effective as a solution, and does it cause any other issues?

Cheers for the help so far :)

Sorry if I’ve missed a post with the answer to this, but is this available on catch up anywhere? Missed both races while I was at work :(

AM45’s are brilliant shoes, but I’ve heard nothing but praise for the Giro SPD shoes…

Same as Carlosg said, had the same but with an Xbox. EBay were on the buyers side until I involved serial numbers, then suddenly it worked ok…

Bell Super all the way! Had a hard crash straight onto my head the other day (landed on a rock) not a mark on it. My pal had a similar crash with a TLD A1 and wrote it off…

Cheers all. Wheel size isn’t so important, as long as it’s not a bloody 29er!!

Scandal, Nick, been looking at the carbon 456, how is it?

    I’ll Google that badboy, cheers!

You can usually pick up various springs cheaply on eBay, pinkbike.com etc, occasionally on here. Usually easy to sell on if they’re not right, but a few quid lost getting the right spring is worth it in the long run.

Without being captain obvious, the best way to work it out is beg, borrow or steal various weight springs til you find one you’re happy with.

High Rollers will do the job nicely on the DH track, 60a compound should be grand, maybe a super tacky on the front if it’s slippery on the rocks.

J-Tech are superb, and well priced. Got my forks and shock serviced, sent them on Tuesday afternoon, got them back on Thursday afternoon. They both feel infinitely better than before they were done, and they’re set up perfectly for my bike/weight. Great communication, no issues whatsoever!

I can’t make this weekend as I’ll be at the BDS, however, I’d be very interested in a map of the route of at all possible??

    Cheers

Nukeproof Critical knee and elbow pads here. Used them for 2 years of harsh downhill and they’re still going strong. They’re also perfectly comfortable to wear all day on a 30km AM ride, bonus!

Centralscrutinizer, no email in your profile, but if you could get in touch with me I’d really appreciate some help, advice and information.

Balls, I meant to put that in! I’m looking to go from mechanical aircraft engineering to working off shore within the seismic surveying industry (probably a mechanical role).

My Strive was in stock when I ordered, paid via credit card, money left my account the following day, got several emails from them letting me know what stage my order was at, no complaints at all! Incidentally, it took less than 24 hours to get from them to the UPS depot near me, then 4 days to make it an hour across Scotland…

All in all, more than happy with the service I received from them :)

Cheers guys :) is Mojo the best place to get them, or are they cheaper elsewhere? Easy enough to fit at home?

I watched it on catch up last night, I couldn’t help but get wound up at the fact they neglected to sort fire and drinking water straight away. Like you say, it has potential to be either a really good watch, or absolute dross. Either way, it’s on series link :)

I have a Strive too, amazing kit for the money, but the rear shock blows through the travel easily. Pretty sure a suspension tuning company could sort it though, I’m going to look into that when funds allow…

It depends what bike you’re looking at going 1x– on. My hardtail is 1×9 and I can climb on that all day long. My 160mm full susser is 2×10, and I wouldn’t even entertain going 1×10 on that thing!

If you’re running out of gears on the downs, decreasing the size of your front ring won’t improve things…

Yeah I got the vest, ended up cutting the material bit off though as it was quite warm. Works prefectly well without it. The cut out for a Leatt neck brace works well to if you use one.

I followed their own size guide on CRC, it said medium and it fits fine. The knee pads don’t shift around at all, even crashing hasn’t managed to shift them yet. If you’re unsure of size, buy a couple from CRC and send the wrong ones back for free :)

Yeah mine is still going strong after a year of regular use and racing. Don’t think there’s even any loose stitching or anything yet…

Have a look at the Nukeproof Critical armour, mine has saved me from numerous broken body parts! I use the knee pads, elbow pads and chest & back protector and can’t fault it.

One phone call and got all the answers I needed, half hour later I purchased an El Gaupo

One phone call and the guy I spoke to had no idea! All I wanted was to clarify a couple of things about the spec that weren’t clear on their website. Unfortunately, all the guy on the phone could do was tell me what it said on their website, which was about as much use as a cock flavoured lollipop.

Heard a lot of mixed reviews about these guys, I seem to get bad service for some reason :(

Good luck if you buy from Planet X/On One. Zero knowledge of the product and I’m still waiting for a 24-72 hour reply to my email 2 months later…

Supposedly very nice bikes, but I took my money elsewhere out of principal.

Make sure you remove all the corrosion otherwise it’s far more likely to return, and pretty quickly.

    10 speed onza :(

enfht, cheers, I was hoping that might be the case! Just need to find a stupidly small screwdriver to take the indicator off now!!
