‘spiffing’ and ‘chums’ used lots here.
‘hep cats’ and ‘zoot suits’ sadly underused these days.

Richie_B I think the commonly used term is now ‘recession’. I don’t know why AndyP didn’t just say that though.
because it’s irrelevant to my point?

I blame anyone who willingly uses the term ‘credit crunch’.

Screw their front (and back) door shut. Pour petrol through letterbox, follow up with lit match. That’ll learn them.

Why aren’t the men on here also up in arms about the fact that there’s no synchronized swiming event open to them?
Possibly because most blokes would prefer to compete in a real sport. one which doesn’t just involve grinning inanely whilst wearing a 3″-thick layer of makeup.

Isn’t being a murderer a pre-requisite of being a lorry driver? They all pick up hitch-hikers/prossies and dump their dismembered corpses behind the Travelodge at Scotch Corner services, don’t they?

Stealth tax? Stupidity tax more like.
aren’t they all? If the Mail and their like can apply the phrase ‘stealth tax’ to anything, you can guarantee that it’s just something which will catch numpties out.

who wants to quaff 75cl of expensive fortified wine in a couple of weeks

I’d love it if I could make a bottle last a couple of weeks!

For £50, I’d have a crack at tracking down a bottle of Quarles Harris 1977…

Maybe you’re talking frozen puddles that are nice to ride over and break. no, the solid stuff.

Or is there a different kind of ice? Yes
So, this other kind of ice, that isn’t frozen water…want to tell me more about it?

    AndyP

Are you sure you’re riding on ice
yes. it’s the cold frozen water stuff, commonly known as ice, right? Or is there a different kind of ice?

Pedant alert… (actually – there’s another – three dots in an ellipsis, not 4)

The Battle of the Somme took place in 1916, but are you telling me that the geographical region of the Somme wasn’t in existence in 1918? and that at no point in the year was there any mud?

Go away and learn how to be a proper pedant. ;)

I would think it will be like riding the Somme in 1918
Quite possibly so. I’ve had all too many rides there which have deteriorated into sitting around drinking beer hoying huge handfuls of clay at each other and wondering if our bikes will ever emerge from the clag again.

not knowing who she is either, I just watched the first minute or so of that youtube clip. I’d be far more concerned about her inability to walk properly than how many pies she’s eaten recently.

Preferred it when peterpoddy was banned
    Great work otherwise.

I sit here in astonishment at the statement ‘Smileys are the internet’s greatest feature.’. I’m sure those pioneering IT types who came up with the idea of the interweb are chuffed to bits with that

If its a leasecar its avery expensive outlay at the end of the lease period.
If you own the car its also your property that someone else is damaging.

I’m bored of the whole “riding on ice is fun” malarkey.
I’m not. it’s ace. My offroad, over the frozen moor commute has been frozen for weeks too. And it’s great fun riding it each day. Just like riding in mud, only less mucky.

Ok – put it the other way round.

Your bike is blocking a drive way entrance so a driver knocks it and breaks your bars/shifter or somesuch.

You cannot honestly say you would havethe same attitude the other way around.

I don’t get this one. My bike wouldn’t be blocking a drive way entrance. If it were, I’d expect someone to move it/drive into it. I’d be a c*nt to leave it where it was blocking something.

Hmm. Been running for just under 5 years. No corrosion, no creaking. Not really cleaned them other than running the usual bike cleaning rag over them when I do the rest of the bike, as I used to with plastic cable outers. No frame eating. Great bit of kit.

I disagree. Someone either believes in a God(s), believes there is no God(s) or is not sure. There are reasons why for each, so why not explore those reasons?
Why not indeed. It would be a very quick exploration though.

    2) You are not an idiot

Gone fishin’ by a shady wady pool (Shangrila, really la)
I’m wishin’ I could be that kind of fool (should I twist your arm?)
I’d say no more work for mine (welcome to the club)

Sounds like nonce-sense if you ask me. I find a scraper works fine (or if you can’t find one, just place your palms flat on the screen and use body heat to defrost it).
