“Tod modern” was what the Partner here is calling the scheme

sweet baby jesus and the orphans. That’s not entirely promising, is it?
Why not call it ‘Operation **** up a decent town in the name of progress’?

Is Holme Moss a 20min climb?
depends on how fast/slow you ride! Probably not, no.
But give it a go, and whilst you’re there, get on the A635 from Holmfirth over to Greenfield. And then ride it again the other way. Should be pushing 20 mins each way.

I’ve got a couple. They’re good but really only backup lights. And they’re so easily removable, why leave them on the bike? someone else will have ’em.
Idea – put one in a rear vent of your helmet. That way you’ll always have a light no matter what. (if you take your helmet, of course).

The Peak District gets it name from the people that lived there – it is not a collection of peaks
ie it’s not ‘The Peak’, it’s ‘The Peak District’. If you decide to miss the ‘District’ bit off the end, why can some people not decide to add an ‘s’?

last, always. Some lass at work puts the milk in, then the teabag, then adds the water. Strangely enough, after the first time, nobody ever takes her up on her offer of making a cuppa.

Was ace that. Cracking weather. But yeah, overpriced. Still, good to get to know a new area. Certainly won’t be paying that entry fee next year but sure I will ride that route again some time. No problems with signs however, and that Mow Cop wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

pretty sure its a 60mph limit. Certainly not the kind of road where 61mph is dangerous.
maybe not dangerous, but over the legal limit. Pay up and quit whining.

My ’95 Kilauea is still going strong (after welding back together the snapped dropout…)
mmm…95. The greatest vintage EVER. My Explosif is still being ridden all the time. 80mm Marathons on it. Never found anything which comes even close in terms of riding enjoyment.

the original FORKS which came with the bike had a threaded steerer. If it has a headset fitted, it may well be an old-stylee threaded headset.
The frame itself will be fine with more modern forks and stem when you bash a threadless headset in. You might struggle to find a fork with short enough travel though.

People died for you to have this power now excercise it please.

people died for us to have various freedoms too. Like the ability to choose whether you do something or not.

Not sure that is why she jumped in front of a horse what do you think?

I suppose, to some extent, it depends how much you ride.
some kind of ‘don’t ride much, get lots of punctures’ reverse correlation? Hmm, guess it’s possible

50 tubes, CRIKEY! I don’t think I’ve ever been through that many
Aye, I’m still using the 4 tubes I’ve been using since 1997. 2 patches between them. What on earth do people do to their tubes?

A hotelier friend once received a job application written on the back of a sealed envelope, complete with coffee mug stains.

    Something along the lines of
‘Do you have a vacancy for a night porter? I have my own uniform. I look like a spanish Pierce Brosnan. A gypsy once told me I would win the lottery, do you have a syndicate?’

    Quality. He was employed, naturally.
