I went from a 2005 Enduro to a 2011 Trance X3. I’m still blown away by how capable the Trance is! 🙂

Glupton the legislation makes no mention of a bike. I could say you get points on your licence for commiting the offence of going equipped wearing a green hat, it’s irrelevant. You stated that riding a bike whilst going equipped to steal meant you could get points on your licence. Insinuating that riding the bike is part of the offence. It isn’t. Therefore not pretty much like you said. Sorry. And going equipped with a bike or a bike as an intended weapon??? Good luck proving that in court.

Not actually anything to do with the pedal cycle though in fairness.

Perhaps complete nonsense was a bit harsh. But the punishment available (of several) is a discretionary disqualification which I would suggest is only used for repeat offenders.

    Points on licence.

    Complete nonsense.

You can get points even if you don’t have a licence – for driving offences eg driving without insurance. Not for bike based offences.

You can get a £30 fine (non-endorsable) on a pedal cycle for failing to comply with a traffic sign (including lights).

You cannot get points on your dvla licence for something you did riding a bike. In a car it’s £60 and 3 points.

No I quoted standard Nano’s vs Standard Vaults. You should have said certain custom Nano’s are lighter than standard Vaults. 🙂

I was just going off the first hit on their website and also the choice I faced when the Vaults came on my new (second hand) bike.

Vaults are 99g lighter than standard Nano’s. (ie almost a fifth lighter)

    Vaults 400g
    Nano’s 499g
    Nano with Ti axle 435g

I switched from Nano’s to Vaults and although the Nano’s are superb value I think the Vault is a better pedal overall.

Saw them on the Jilted Generation tour in 1995 with a little known support group (The Chemical Brothers!) absolutely awesome perfomance. It was at the Empress Ballrooms, Blackpool.

So undiagnosed can’t go hypo from not eating as opposed to using too much insulin? Well you learn something every day! 🙂

Dr P. i was thinking in terms of a diagnosed diabetic not being likely to have a catastrophic hypo as they should know the symptoms. I take your point that overall if undiagnosed someone is far more likely to go high though. Anyone would think you were a doctor 😆

Police is an option. Just can’t drive emergency vehicles.

Most diabetics recognise the symptoms of a hypo and can “treat” it way before it’s an issue. Undiagnosed diabetes is more likely to result in catastrophic hypos. Constant monitoring is key. (My wife is type 1 btw).

Tom’s correct. Only affects HGV status. He can still drive a car and will have to re-apply for his license every 3 years. This is just to keep DVLA updated it doesn’t involve a re-test or anything. He can apply to be assessed individually re: his HGV status if he meets certain criteria re: control of his diabetes.

It drys and leaves a lubricating film therefore less likely to end up with stuff sticking to your stanchions when compared to fork oil (in theory 🙂 )

I use it and find it works well.

ScottChegg the thread is about Local Police Commissioners. The point was made that voting in elected officials is politicisation of policing. You decide to chirp in with an irrelevant comment about Masons, insinuating some sort of impropriety. You take every opportunity to broadcast your anti-police views. Get over it. It’s boring and juvenile.

No. Just rather tired of irrelevant anti-police comments.

    Pointless comment^^^^^

What concerns me is who these people are who are standing for election? Who are they and who chose them? Some posts are six figure salaries. More jobs for the boys from a corrupt political system.

Mudshark there are many, many things OUR taxes are spent on that should be cut before pensions. Within pensions there are many low or non-contributory pensions for civil servants, MP’s etc that should be cut before our Armed forces and emergency services. I don’t dispute that things need to change to be sustainable but the way it is being done is very wrong.

The changes should be for new joiners not for those whe have already planned their lives around the current system. Immediate savings could be made through efficiency. Particularly in contracts and tendering processes where basic kit costs a fortune due to the overpriced contract it was supplied under (backhander?). The outlook that “I haven’t got a good pension so why should you” is pathetic.

I’m sure someone will be along in a minute moaning about private sector pensions and how small they are in comparison (even though they pay less into them, have a company car and other corporate perks, don’t work nights or weekends, get dividends and bonuses, etc etc etc)

No great altitude but some good varied trails. Forested natural bits can get very boggy but the armoured and purpose built trails hold up very well whatever the weather. You can just explore but if you are limited for time a guide is highly recommended to link the good bits.

Two lanes into one, one merging point, after you after me, smooth and simple with minimum disruptions.

Two lanes into one, multiple merging points over half a mile, chaos, people carving in all over the place, harsh braking as people get cut up, the self-righteous intentionally blocking both lanes at whatever arbitrary point they’ve decided is ‘right’, stress, road rage.

What is there to gain by piling into one line ages before the junction, other than to double the length of the queue (and thus the pinch point)? The road’s open for a reason. Use it.

    +1

Drive to the end, merge. Laugh at the person getting angry who decided to queue for no reason 😀

The queue is only that long because people decided not to use a huge amount of empty road!

Wider to a point can feel better, depending on what riding you are doing. I don’t think anyone is saying the wider the better. Otherwise we’d all be careering about with 850mm bars. I have 725mm Atlas bars with a 70mm stem for trail riding which works for me.

No mixed reviews from the “experts”. The Five Ten Impact Lo 2 consistently scores 9 or 10 out of 10 in reviews and wins flat shoes group tests every time. I personally would prefer if they were lighter and soaked up less water but they are so comfortable and planted when riding I can get past that. I recently caught my foot on a rogue stump and I am sure the tough toe box on my Impact’s saved me from a nasty injury. Each to there own mind, some would rather have a lighter shoe an sacrifice a bit of protection.

+1 for Merino socks. At least you are warm when the inevitable wetness takes hold.
