None of the above, biological washing powder mixed into a slurry and spread over the affected area, leave it for a couple of days, it will set but can be easily cleaned up with water.

Also works on oil stained driveways.

    Bioremediation matters

I had a few others like amitriptyline and tramadol, waste of time. It was the gentle movement of walking that really helped with the pain, although at first I was just lying on the floor unable to move, I’ve seen every episode of How its Made.

haha yeah you don’t wan that in your search history

The nearest thing I can find is the cat/cow yoga pose, was pretty much that but also moving the hips from side to side.

You have my sympathies, the pain is ridiculous isn’t it. Only thing that provided any sort of relief for me was the Entonox in the ambulance and the hospital.

I had a annular tear of L4 and L5, the spinal consultant said it was the largest he had ever seen.

Luckily no Cauda Equina symptoms but given a letter explaining I’d need urgent decompression surgery if I experience any issues down below.

Left leg did stop working properly for a while though. Had to force myself to walk which made a hugh difference. One day I’d got 100 yards down the road, the pain flared up and I had to lie on the pavement, on old bloke came out of his house (wanting to ring an ambulance) anyway he lent me his walking stick so I could get home. Eventually I was walking 2-3 miles a day.

Opted not to have surgery as the pain had subsided quite considerably. Think I am lucky that the discs ruptured rather than bulged as the body removes the stuff that comes out.

18 months on and the MRI showed the area to be clear, completely healed up. Pretty much pain free now apart from the odd tinge or ache, just use Volterol or Ibuprofen gel. Left foot is a little numb, particulary the big toe but I’m happy with the foot and leg strength.

Couple of other thoughts, I didn’t use a back brace and the Mckenzie exercises also didn’t do much. I found the exercises given to me by the Physio felt and worked better, these were basically, humping and hollowing on all fours and wagging the tail for want of a better description. Plus some others using a rubber band.

We understand that was the case.

My friend is happy with the result.

Not a Skoda but from the same group manufacturer.

Anyway, he’s paid for the damage he did!

Don’t have the full story but the Police suggested he pay and say sorry, he transferred money the same day. I understand no further action is being taken.

My friend does not want to see him so the apology can wait.

So that’s it, thanks to everyone that replied and hopefully this thread may be of use to someone else if they unfortunately find themselves in the same situation.

Appreciate the additional comments, particulary from siwhite.

Will chat to my friend over the weekend and hopefully update with a positive outcome

The guy is a coward, Police had to visit him twice, first time he wouldn’t answer the door. My friends don’t want to do anything to antagonize the situation and certainly no sort of violence or revenge. Payment to restore the damage and hopefully further action taken by the authorities is all they are hoping for hence my post asking for advice on how best to do that.

    Anyway thanks again everyone!

Btw, this happened about a month ago now.

Good point Nicko, that may rule out Court action

Wanted to keep this vague but I’ll add some more details…

This neighbour is 60 years old and is known to be grumpy towards other neighbours, drives an old tatty car but has a very nicely kept large Victorian semi detached house, ample parking.

My friend is 20, drove a cheap older car for two years, worked two jobs to save up then replaced it with a three year old car.

Apparently one of the comments which the PC will have in his notes was, ‘I f-ing hate that car’, so the issue probably is parking.

Is there any way to insist that the Police/CPS make a prosecution?

Just one small point I’d like to add, my friend has never parked outside this neighbours house.

The neighbour keeps his car on the road directly outside his own house.

Anyway, thanks for the replies, I will pass this info on to them!

My brother still has a red and yellow burner rusting away in a garage. I’d say it weighs more than my large Cannondale trigger (which is for sale in the classifieds btw).

Found an app that shows the restricted parking.

    thanks for the other replies!

Excellent, just the job thanks Garry!

I seem to remember a longish ride on the Saturday with some technical descents, one of the newspapers turned up (Independant?) and did a group picture.

Race was on the Sunday and was basically a short circular route round a field, small grassy hill and wooden section.

    Anyway, thanks again!

Whoever produced that Skeletor dance routine has definitely seen the techno viking video.

It used be called back of the mast. Ride up to and past the mast which will be on your left, either across Wilders Moor or the access road (not supposed to ride up either). You’ll see a gate on the right and that’s it, will take you all the way down to Belmont. Rivington road is one way back but just note it is a fairly tough slog.

A more tricky descent from the mast is left at the end and down to Hordern Stoops.

Good point about the traffic at the weekend!

Sold a house earlier in the year, made it clear there was no negotiation on survey. Loads of viewings, half a dozen offers, all interested parties were happy with it as were the people that bought it.

50mm Thomson stem and offset bushings, made it much better on the technical stuff for me.

Currently looking at WTB i-35 rims, anyone running those?

Don’t have one on my 32 Oval, chain stays on fine.

It worked! Just rotated them 180 degrees, seems to have done the trick, actually looks more laid back now, measured the BB drop and it is -10mm. thanks again

@ torsoinalake, thanks for posting, I have them fitted the shorter way, will fit them the other way round and report back!

I’ve fitted some offset bushing to my Trigger, but now the triangular shock ‘rocker’ hits against the seat tube. It happens on the return part of the suspension movement. You can also replicate it by just gently lifting the rear of the bike by the seat.

Double checked for correct installation and shock pressures etc.

Anyone else have this problem please?

Update, had a message from Ebay to say they have refunded me and I can keep the item. Money has not shown up on Paypal yet, sure it will though.

Didn’t start the Ebay money guarantee process, so my last email pointing out the law must have done the trick.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Ok thanks, I’ll try the Ebay guarantee, payment was by Paypal

Sorry for being a little vague, trying to avoid specific details.

I ordered the correct item and they actually sent an item which was correctly labelled up but was obviously the wrong size.

Looking at the distance selling regs, if I’d ordered the worng size then the return cost would be my responsibility.

Probably not this but I had a creak, so removed the rear shock, still creaked, was the brake hose rubbing under the BB!

Also, had a rock cut the rear brake hose just after setting off at the top of Walnar Scar.

Also want a shorter stem for mine, not many 1.5 steerers around.

Found this one but it is expensive/ugly:

    anything better?

Morrissey parked in the space next to me at the Sainsburys in Altrincham once. He was with his mum in a Porsche 993 Targa, that car would have been only a year or two old at the time.

Glad someone mentioned the BB filling up with water issue. Emptied mine three times now, have a stealth dropper fitted so it must be getting in via that grommet below the lower shock mount?

Not sure a drilled hole would work as there is a lot of grit/silt.

So it is either some silicon sealant or stop riding in the wet!

Also couldn’t live with the Wolverines, they are fine for a tow path maybe but not the usual riding I do. Went tubeless with some Specialized Purgatorys, much better!

I have an Aeron, would recommend it, the arm rests slide down easily so you can tuck the chair under the desk.

worth phoning a Porsche dealer for parts as sometimes they are cheaper than elsewhere (not always though!)

OEM coil packs are Beru, be careful as there are some fake Chinese Bosch parts around.

Agree with the specialists comments and buying second hand usually involves lots of journeys/inspections.

Best place to buy these cars is from other enthusiasts on places like 911uk and boxa net forums.

Anyway, congrats, imo the Boxster is the best sportcar you can buy at any price!

That is not a big list on a 2003 if a decent specialist has looked over it. The brake line cost is probably because it runs over the gearbox.

If the car is good in other areas, decent tyres, brakes, real service history (bills) then I’d keep it and get those bits fixed.

I’m 6ft 1in and have a 58cm which is spot on for me, I don’t have the seatpost fully extended or the saddle all the way back if that helps!

Good point about the grip, 265 on the back, not as playful if you are used to beemers etc.

Budget an extra £300 in the first month for the “I’m just nipping out for a drive” petrol!

Hartech have not yet repaired a 2.7 so that is the best one to go for if you want to avoid, IMS bearing failure, bore scoring or cracked bores (so called D chunk)

Great cars but get it inspected if you are not mechanically minded. Make sure it has had yearly/regular oil changes.

Watch out if the exhaust is hanging too low at the back as it could be gear box mounts or a broken carrier (£700 job)

Had loads of 911’s and a few Boxster’s including the Gen 2, they are fantastic cars.

They generally creak because they are assembled with nothing more then the packing oil the bearings/crank came in. Try a bit of grease first before changing the bearings.
