Looks like Rob Colliver is due to finish today. If he gets in before 3pm our time, then that will be sub 21 days.

With solo air pikes its easy to change the air shaft to change travel if you find a good deal on 150 or 160 pikes. About £35 IIRC

I think he (Terry!) has finished, the last ‘ping’ was 12 hours ago at the border.

I watched Alien with my then 15yr old son. Totally unfazed by it after I’d bigged it up as an all time classic.

    I still prefer Aliens though!

I’m the deal with the CTC for our club insurance, the way I see it

3rd party claims against an individual then that’s between the 3rd and individual only regardless of club ride or not.

3rd party (say a new rider) has an accident on a club ride and claims against a ride leader for say an inappropriately difficult route, then that’s between the 3rd party and club CTC insurance.

Individuals still may want personal insurance on club rides, club insurance covers the ‘club’ not the riders.

Robs completed 7 whole days and is at mile 900 so pretty much on target for an ITT of 20-22 days.

Not in the Mike H league though! Stunning effort.

Watch the spacing between bikes, some are only 17cm which is too tight to fit modern bikes with both through axles and fat forks.

Can’t see Guy Martin of the TD 16 tracker page, I assume he’s still doing it. All seems a bit old/quiet on the web if you do a google of Guy Martin Tour Divide

I’ve designed a circuit to power an charge eTrex 30 batteries from a dynamo. Non trivial and voids the warranty.

Since your garmin charges from USB just buy an external mobile phone power pack.

I assume we can use XD driver hub and SRAM cassette and get 10-42 but use shimano XT 11 speed rear mech and shifter.

Factory ones have the hole on the down tube just in front of the shock. If you can get the cable round the BB, I’d go for a hole there, might be a pain to drill though.

Does it matter where the start point is? Jump on your bike and follow the line.

The GPS won’t care where the start point is, and you can always add an extra waypoint manually for real start to get you directly back if needs be.

pipe lagging no good, the spacing is so tight that the 2nd and 3rd bikes aren’t even upright because they are being forced apart by touching the bike in front.

Used to work fine with QR 32mm forks and QR rears

Tried to carry 3 bikes over the weekend and had to dismantle one and put in the car.

Slightly of topic, I have FLAC on my NAS which is setup as a DLNA server and a Chromecast audio device into a DAC then to my HiFi.

Whats the best Android App for viewing my library and streaming FLAC to the Chromecast?

I’ve used BubblePnP which seems OK, just a bit clunky.

The Kodi GUI is great and I think i can configure to stream to Chromecast but the config is a fraction torturous.

TFT are showing out of stock for the Monarch shox hence why they are offering Fox although I cant see the correct size shock from Fox. 165×38 or am I wrong there?

Chainreaction have the Monarch RT3 in stock at the right size .

Wilko, etrex Garmins can do exactly what you ask, an underlying map with a GPX created line on top. Use this all the time. As you say no noises, nags or other distractions. I’ve got an etrex 30.

Map can be set to track up so always points the way you are going.

I used 25mm tape on ARC30 rims, perfect.

Narrow is better (within reason) because it leaves the machined edges free to seat the tyre properly. Also the centre channel is quite deep so the narrower tape pulls in more easily.

Dont buy Stans, buy the Tesa tape of ebay, so much cheaper and its identical.

Initially I used small squares of tape covering each spoke hole and that worked too.

Depends how new the MK2 is. Very latest ones are single ring front only. They deleted the cable guides, stops and derailler mount.

If you have these mounts then is an E2 mech and they all seem to be 2×10 or 2×11

I’ve gone 140mm Pikes by changinng the airshaft on a set of 150’s. Will ride for a while and put back to 150’s for the summer when the riding gets bigger.

    Chain Reaction

3rd option down for 27.5 140mm. Easy to change.

I think I’m paying about £28/year for UK breakdown and recovery.

Do compare the market for breakdown cover …

Go ARC30, little difference in weight. My Ardent 2.25’s fit nicely with a good profile.

Buy the Easton Heist wheelset as an option. Same rim, ready taped and potentially cheaper?

If its like some fulcrum hubs I had, then use the aluminium spindle to drive the bearing out directly. It may have a shoulder behind the bearing. Remove one side, re-insert spindle and drive out the other side.

Its just annoying that without the torque caps, the hub doesn’t just rest in the correct position before inserting the axle.

When tightened the wheel is located by being squashed between the drop-outs, so no difference.

Its no different to the rear of the original 135×12 rear standards that didn’t locate the wheel.

Yeah it was easy, down the seat tube and up the down tube(?) and fish it out.

Looks like they might have quietly dropped the front mech option, a phone call to orange I think. If 1x only get some extra discount to cover your costs.

I wonder when they made the change, mine is December and has the stops and mount.

    Mine was frame only too.

No way I could pedal a 1x system around the Southdowns I need my 24×36.
