Ive got one of those Italian Colnago things and had a similar dilema. One squeze on the DA 9000 brakes and shift from little to big ring and my mind was made up.
DA 9000 all the way.
Some people do raise an eyebrow about Shimano on an Italian bike though.

White cloud mountain minnows fit the bill,they will also fit in a large goldfish`s mouth however.

Been on the scales today…15.3 lbs. Im happy with that,I knew full well it was never gonna be a contender for the lightest build. The Enves were on the shortlist along with Zipp 303s but one thing and another swayed me to the Mavics. Might turn up on the club run with baggies though.

Valid question… I feel the shift is great Manual,and batteries hanging off the down tube/bulky mechs make it a little clumsy looking.

Quick update,Its a 48 sloping and I cant take credit for the valves and logo alignment. I bought a pait of Veloflex tyres to put straight on the Ksyrium SLR wheels,but the Mavic tyres seem better than I thought they would be.
The brakes are superb,without a doubt the best road brakes I`ve ever used.
The front mech Is a faff to get spot on,and the only upgrade I fancy is a Fizik R1 saddle over the Arione cx I`ve swiped off another bike.

It`s too late now,I start in Jan. The Chinensis group are the mega hot ones,bit more difficult to grow/look after. Start with the Annum group..lots of varietys and some pretty ones too.
