Beautiful place, but no beaches really (no problem for me though) we stayed at an italian cooking school, it was absolutely fantastic, didn't do the cooking but enjoyed eating the food after people had cooked it…… hoghly recommended, Capri, Pompei, etc…. fantastic places to visit, also a very good train service to the attractions.

Its not the actual Petrol in Diesel running issue you should worry about:
With modern Diesels (Common Rail) the High Pressure pump produces around 1600 – 2000 bar of pressure, as you can possibly imagine the tolerances within the Pump are minute/very small……. to that end it relies on the quality of Diesel to lubricate the Pumps moving components during operation……… If the Diesel is diluted down (as a result of Petrol contamination) the Lubrication quality is drastically reduced, it isn't now you'll have a problem but the future could get very expensive, worst case is usually new: fuel pump £800, new injectors £600-£800, new fuel pipes & the actual time for someone to do it…………

BMW say in the event of a Customer putting Petrol in a Diesel and the vehicle is run you should replaced all these as a minimum to ensure the Warranty is still valid, cost is about £4000….. Ouch

If you don't use it on a regular basis, the gas can escape past the 'O' rings, the gas also carries oil to Lubricate the A/C compressor (flow of gas & oil lubricates these 'O' rings keeping them supple)….. so in essence not using the A/C can destroy the compressor (over a period of time) and become a very expensive repair.

    Robbo,

Can you get a brake if you pump the lever? If so you have got air in there somewhere.

over shoes and skin suits? about as far from MTBing as i think of it as it's possible to get, nice to see some proper rocks on the course though, they'll have needed extra "enhancement" to cope with that i expect

Why? Because mountain biking can only be participated in by fat knackers in baggy shorts and a full face helmet? Have some respect, these guys handling skills would piss on 95% of the bike riding population, sure race courses may not be the most technical due to the need to have a race on them but they'd more than cope with most trails I would have thought.

Can't help but agree, I first got into MTb in the late 80's……. there was non of this full face helmet & baggy clothing sh!te then!!!

Just a word of warning Guys, don't crack the injector lines open on Modern diesels, firstly they operate at about 2000 bar (29500 PSI) and if the pressurised fuel hit your skin it'll cause major problems. Secondly if any swarf or small dirt particles get into the injector pipe it could have catastrophic engine failure.

I had the same some years ago, I put it down to biking, but it staedily got worse, ended up going to the Hospital for a "Nerve Conduction Study" basically they tested the nerves in my arm with small electrical pulses….. when the results came back the suggeted Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, had the surgery (10 mins worth) never had a problem since

The engine in the Galaxy is the PSA (Peugeot/Citroen)2.0 HDi, the engines are tuned to the european market (some countries have poorer quality fuel and are less stringent regarding servicing) with that in mind chipping won't put any un-necessary load on the engine as we in the UK have a good quality fuel and tend to Service cars more often. However don't use a plug in chip/product, these just tend to fool the cars engine management into thinking the ambient temperature is cold, this will encourage the engine to throw in more fuel wich will increse performance, you actually need to go to a company who can actually re-map the ECU….. Someone like this,ECU chipping[/url]

Molgrips, Cetane will have a minimalistic improvement on Diesel, unlike Octane on a Petrol…….. Cetane is the speed at which the Diesel will burn, (known as ignition delay) sometimes engines work better with a long delay, (a slower & more efficient burn)this will work with a lower cetane rated Diesel.

They are indeed correct, any component replaced under the "Contractual Warranty" is only covered for the remainder of that period, if however you have paid for it and have paid any contribution towards it, it would indeed then be covered by a 12 month Parts Warranty.

Probably a mix of two things……. 1, bike setup (too much weight towards front i.e. arms taking too much weight)2, Gripping the handlebars too tight.. relax your grip, you'll feel a difference straight away

I have some Crossmax SL's and had a similar issue in getting some bearings…… if you remove the originals there is a number on the seal (this is found on the two flat edges inner & outer) I typed this into ebay and got some bearings very cheap, they were SKF ones too……. got to be worth a try.
