Map my ride has almost what you’re after.

You can update Facebook and Twitter every x minutes/miles and it includes a map of your ride up until that point.

Kryton57 – that makes absolute sense. Thanks.

Can anyone recomend a decent make of chainring? Needing both 22t and 32t.

    Thanks

Wouldn’t mind one of those protectors you’ve got either. Where’s that from?

Are all chain rings made equal?

    Need a 22t and 32t – unless I bight the bullet and go 2×9 instead of 3×9.

Which chain rings would you lot recomend?

Nice ride around Calderdale. Covered top to toe in mud and shite when I got home.

But isn’t that part of the fun?

I run smorgasbord front and rear. On a club ride on Wednesday we went through some really muddy crap and I seemed to grip better than most others.

I personally won’t buy anything else now.

Asda have self repairing ones in for under a fiver. The seem to be filled with gunk to seal a puncture but may be with a look.

Couldn’t help think they’d be a bit unreliable though.

    Thanks all!

My main reason for considering is that there is some redundancy and I’m getting a lot of chain suck and slapping of my chain in certain conditions. Most front rings are worn.

Shortening the chain any more causes it to snap so seeing as the rings need replacing a may as well go 2x and add in the benefits of a tensioner/guide along the way.

Moneys not a worry as kit needs replacing anyway so I’d still be spending

@mikewsmith – possibly because not everyone’s as knowledgable as you? Some of us haven’t done this before. There are 3 rings currently and 1 is coming off – I’d assumed it would be the inner or outer but sorry for troubling you with my ignorance.

So removing the outer ring is the way to go – but as I use this a fair bit on the flat I’m guessing the best step is to go slightly up on the number of teeth on my middle ring to give a wider range?

I know some shifters can be adjusted to be 2x from being 3x

Is there some kind of giveaway sign on the shifters so I can be sure?

    Thanks

When you know how these deals work you wouldn’t bother.

You’re not buying the phone – you’re actually buying the laptop.

Margins on laptops are that low (as low as £5 per unit) that one of the ways of selling them profitably is with some kind of other revenue attached to them. This used to be insurance or a spare charger or a bag.

The revenue available from a mobile phone contract (because you’re tied in and likely to renew) is much higher. That’s why they’re bundling them together to make profit from the overall deal.

They’re often crap laptops and crap TVs also.

Best bet is to find a decent mobile phone deal and look for cash back – through quidco or similar – not the network themselves. Then do the same for the TV or laptop.

    As MrSmith said.

Get on and ride. It’s a different kind of enjoyment – get further, see more. My MTB fitness rapidly increased within a month of getting one.

I read the T&C’s to see what colour saddle it was – don’t think there’s much chance of you cancelling and re-subscribing for a free saddle – it’s pretty well covered in the T&Cs

Come on Mark – get a black one put on one side for me and I’ll buy now.

I’ll even head down to Todmorden to pick it up myself :)

I don’t normally venture past Hebden Bridge so that’s a lot of effort on my part you know.

    Thanks guys.

I’m also running 3x as I swapped all my old components to my C456 and ain’t got the budget for swapping anything else.

Can you get those guards for 3x?

What’s with the fascination with separate bikes for summer and winter? And that’s a serious question not a sarcastic comment.

I have one road bike and one hard tail. I ride them rain or shine and just give them a good clean when I’m done.

So I placed an order today… and then turned up at a meeting for a charity LEJOG attempt I’m doing where we were all handed MagicShine’s free of charge.

I’d have felt great being given a free MagicShine if I hadn’t just spent £115 on a Lumenator. Seeing how bright this MagicShine is I can’t wait to get the Lumenator delivered now.

Ton – would you fancy a job over Halifax way?

I need a new control panel fitted to replace a Veritas 8c – went all tits up last night.

Drop me a line at andy @ andrew-banks.co.uk if you’d travel over from Leeds.

    Cheers

Smudge – sod the orders mate – Dad’s got to be the priority.

I’m likely to order this evening based on the feedback here. It arrives whenever it arrives mate – no mad panic.

Not sure I should order one given the reviews here

Anyone know what the lead times are like on getting one at the moment. Given the terrible news listed on that site I’m guessing sending out MTB lights won’t be the guys priority at the moment – and rightly so.

Don’t want to order one and add to the guys stress load by emailing and asking about delivery.

I love my new C456. Not got a slack set on but the confidence it gives me on the down hills is amazing. Got the smorgasbord tyres on it as well and it was grippy as hell today.

    Best:

New C456 frame, Reverb, Thomson Elite X4 stem and On One Oversized Rise Bars

So much nicer and more confidence inspiring than my original frame/set up. Saved a massive £350 by buying all the bits in the sales.

    Worst:

    Nothing really

Happy Christmas guys! Pretty good cycling gifts here.

    Wide riser bars
    Head cam and accessories
Training session with Ed Oxley at Gisburn
    Overshoes for the road bike
One of those stolen bike tracking things that goes in your seat tube

    Pretty well spoilt really.

Suppose I was asking the obvious. Just wanted to make sure.

Anyone running these on a C456 then and can advise on the cable routing? Now considering a RH lever to run on the underside on the LH side based on recommendations on another thread on here.

You borrowed the money and agreed to pay it back. Their terms were acceptable when you borrowed it – why aren’t they now?

I’ve had a c456 frame off them and lots of components. All the components arrived on time and I’ve never had the need to deal with customer service for that.

The frame arrived bent first time – Barry at PX/OO kept in touch on email amazingly and arranged a courier to pick up the new one and sent me a replacement out same day.

The second frame has now been built up and the rear triangle is out of line. As I’ve spent money/time building it up, Barry has offered for me to send the complete bike down, they’ll swap the frame over and send me a complete bike back so I’m not inconvenienced or out of pocket for the build.

I don’t think you can say fairer than that to be honest. Two dodgy frames maybe shouldn’t happen but I will definitely buy off them again just because of the amazing customer service – and all via email.

45p per mile of business use can be offset against tax for the first 10,000 PLUS 5p for each passenger.

I think there is a limit to the number of passengers though.
