Royal London are a good, reasonably priced provider. The IFA is likely to be independent of them (as far as I know they have no “tied” advisers).

However, those fees seem pretty large. How many pensions are you consolidating? What total value? Are some of them Defined Benefit/Safeguarded Rights?

Will soon be cancelled out by the non-indexation of the personal allowance over the coming years. The Tories giveth and then taketh away more.

I was having similar woes, assumed a new disc would be expensive… Finally ordered a new one from chain reaction. £2.99 !!

Met him briefly when I was bike riding a year or two back. Seemed like a nice fella.

I like his work as well. The documentary he did about the poor bits of Cornwall a few years back was really good.

Re: the dropper that’s what I would have thought, but LBS seemed to be suggesting posting away for service and a cost of £99….

Martinhutch – yes. We had one with it; awful. It got written off (not related to lane changing!). Replacement doesn’t have it thankfully.

We’ve got a 1 litre fabia estate. Plenty quick enough unless you’re a boy racer. Massive boot. Very happy. DO NOT get one with lane assist.

My front wheel arch (metal) and front bumper (plastic) got lightly scratched recently. The two quotes i got were £625 & £400, so it’s worth shopping around .

I’ve done it twice. First time we saved a £1,000 on the car as they offered a better deal on the car with finance. Can’t remember the details on the second. We were quite open with the salesman and they had no problem with it, they just want a sale.

I thought it was 30 days cooling off, but I might have remembered that wrong.

With a different vocalist I would have probably quite liked it.

I’ve had spyres and bb7’s. I preferred the spyres, just seemed all round better designed.

They might have taken that much money, I very much doubt they’ve earned it.

    Today, a wetsuit.

More seriously, cycle specific shorts are worth the money in my experience. Base layers, T’s and long sleeve running tops from ebay will do the job at a fraction of the cost of cycling brands. Whatever waterproof jacket fits budget. The more cycling you do, the more you’ll find out what suits you. Everyone has different preferences.

Padded undershorts are worth investing in.

Woodbury tends to handle the wet relatively well, if you’re looking for an alternative in the area, although I imagine that’s pretty sodden as well.

I got soaked to the skin just riding along the Haldon road earlier today. The whole area is about as wet as it gets currently with a further yellow warning of rain tomorrow. If you’re travelling to ride there, personally, I’d leave it until it’s a bit drier.

We’re currently ticking off bits of the coast path. The reality of access/limited public transport etc means that we’re doing most of it as out and back walks. So, by the time we’re done we’ll have done most of it twice. Doing most with our son means it’s a long term project.

Pump tracks are excellent fun for the returning bmxer, flowy trails feel without the need for massive amounts of skill/bravery.

There’s a couple of episodes of the Nine Club (skateboarding podcast/YT channel) that he’s on. The earlier one talks about his background growing up skating and how he got into what he does now. I thought he came across ok.

I’ve recently bought a pair of bolle from eBay for about 11 quid. Comfy and seem to do the job. Time will tell re: longevity.

Have recently been in this exact situation as our disc rusted out. I also can’t be arsed going in and out of various apps. Subsequently watch next to no tv anymore!

Poopscoop, your pension providers response would suggest you have some form of safeguarded benefits (e.g. defined benefits or other guarantees). Probably a good idea to understand what those are before you make any decision on what to do.

Harbour ones have a rounder face and are less common (in the SW anyway)

Historically I had this sit serve me up UKIP adverts, more recently betting sites. No surprise they’re not getting click through.

Hoffman strapped an engine onto a bmx to ride an oversized vert ramp back in the 90s. Didn’t end well.

They look cool but can you get them serviced? That would be my concern.

This doesn’t directly answer your question but may be relevant. My wife’s car got written off in a roundabout accident earlier this year. Insurer deemed it her fault (debatable IMO). I assumed the insurance on the replacement would be hugely expensive. It was about the same as the previous policy.

In terms of the claim we had the usual faff of declining their first offer and then getting a more acceptable offer. Subsequently complained and got a further payment which got us close to the true value of the vehicle.
