Thanks for your help folks – a much more informed decision now 🙂

I’ve just built up a Whyte 46 with square taper (UN55 and FSA crankset). The BB has been in my bit box for several years and still runs smoothly.
I still ride my Giant Track (1989) with its original UN?? BB as my rigid bike and the combination of BB and XT cranks is still a joy to ride (original XT Thumbies too…)

So another vote for shimano here.

Done. Be a great tool if it covers both road and MTB. I think of myself as an MTBer but do a lot of road riding (commute etc). 2 sections to the app would be great.
I agree that pricing would need to be thought out carefully.
And I answered ‘other’ too for q7 as there isn’t a no option.

Good luck – looking forward to seeing the results…

+1 for Hope. Used mono minis on my FS and HT for the last 8 years with no problems and spares are always easy to get.

    ‘Ah, there she is.
Hands up who has actually ridden one of those Whyte beasts… *puts up hand*

Just home from work and found this thread. There’s always someone who has a go at the Preston 4. I’ve had one for years – in’s soooo good to ride. Eats anything XC for breakfast… Wouldn’t part with it. I think it’s a great looker in a weird, functional sort of way. Anyway, it rides great and I love mine.

*waits for usual cries of derision*

Thanks for that. Trying to build a fairly cheap bike so I’ll probably stick with 9mm.

'Don't laugh, but I still regret getting rid of my PRST-4'

Who's laughing? Still got mine – still love it!!!
