Yes, canyon headsets are rubbish. I ended up speaking to them and had a different type sent out on a spectral 125 as the original had a huge aluminium cone spacer at the top that combined with the slight play in the plastic spacers was starting to try and make a groove in the steerer.

Thankfully for small mercies mine isn’t the through headset cable design.

Trot about after work, probably should have taken the head torch as the steep muddy descent through the woods at the end was not done in optimal visibility

Walk and indoor bouldering yesterday. Last night have replaced a spoke, changed a drivetrain and fixed a poorly tubeless tyre so hopefully I have a functional bike for a weekend ride…..

I’d be up for doing the 100 days again this year. Thank you for setting up the thread.

Is there a Strava group this year, I know not everyone uses or likes it, but it can be useful for keeping track of things?

Definitely looking forward to seeing photos and hearing what everyone is getting up to on this thread.

I saw it crossing totley moss, I thought it was a bomber of some kind but didn’t get a good enough view to say what type (and indeed the bomber expertise!)

My Alpkit Gravitas was pretty rubbish in terms of actually being a waterproof from new, I couldn’t be bothered with the faff of taking it back once used, it’s very light and works well as a windproof. I mainly got it so I had a light jacket with taped seams for passing kit checks!

Short run after work on Monday round eyam/follow.

Hilly ride on the road doing Christmas card deliveries around Sheffield yesterday.

Walked to dentist then into town this morning as super windy for a ride, planning to go bouldering this afternoon.

Glad to hear what everyone is getting up to.

Lots of lovely photos above. Good to hear everyone is still getting out.

I’ve failed to update for a bit, have still been doing the 30mins each day but managed double lurgy in November so have only really just got going again properly. Trot about after work monday, managed to pop out bouldering yesterday and hoping to get a bit of a ride today.

Weather has been quite mixed, couple of photos from local rides in the lovely frosty spell with a bit of snow at the end of November.

He was great. The following fan fiction excerpt appeared after he died in the style of the Minds talking, it was posted up on here a few years ago:

GCU Read ‘Em and Weep to GSV Does My Mind Look Big in This?: A mutual friend says it’s time to go. Do you have any associates near system ID, some time in the next dozen megaseconds?

GSV Does My Mind… to ROU Not Just a Pretty Face: Fancy a detour to system ID, since you’re passing? There’s some baggage to collect: target designator

ROU Not Just… to GSV Does My Mind…: It would stretch my schedule. What makes you think I’ve got the legs for that?

GSV Does My Mind… to ROU Not Just…: A little bird told me about your refit. Go on, you’re just itching to try it out.

ROU Not Just… to GSV Does My Mind…: “Bird”? “Itching”? Have you gone native? Oh, all right then, since you’re twisting my arm.

GSV Does My Mind… to ROU Not Just…: Look who’s talking: you’re the one with “arms” and “legs”. Bet you can’t do it in five megaseconds.

ROU Not Just… to GSV Does My Mind…: Aren’t I’m supposed to say something like “Let’s see the colour of your money”? Anyway, watch this.

GSV Does My Mind… to ROU Not Just…: I’m waiting. … OK, that really is rather nice. Next time you’re nearby I’ll send you an avatar to perform an appropriate low whistle.

GSV Does My Mind… to GCU Read ‘Em and Weep: Our friend should make his farewells, and be ready for displacement by ROU Not Just a Pretty Face at time timestamp. Are there any countermeasures in place?

GCU Read ‘Em and Weep to GSV Does My Mind… and ROU Not Just…: Much obliged. No countermeasures, I’m afraid: it’s all a bit stone axes. They still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea. No displacement, either: the Arbitrary doesn’t want us frightening the horses. Scan-and-forward, if you please. The usual cover story is in place.

ROU Not Just… to GCU Read ‘Em and Weep and GSV Does My Mind…: Sigh. I’ll put my toys away then. A pity: it’s an attractive system, but I always think those little blue planets look better with a ring. Or a really big crater. Who is this guy anyway? I’m dying to meet him. Or maybe I’ve got that the wrong way round. … Scan complete. Oh, it’s him. Let me know when you decant him and I’ll drop by to pay my respects. Here you are: entanglement scan stream

    Well done Colin.

Lots of nice photos from everyone above too.

I got back from the Lakes and have been quite busy and dodging the bad weather. Managed to get out each day though quite a few have been walks or short runs. Did the RIde SHeffield Dig Day last Sunday.

Got out yesterday testing the work

I am interested in this too, I used the thin dhb aeron ones for years and really like them, but they just make the warm ones now. I’ve tried the alpkit thinner 3/4 and the fit isn’t so good. I have some endura thicker ones and I don’t get on with the pad as well.

I need to look after my 2017 Solaris max well then. Really good buying experience with test loops on different sizes riding proper trails out from the old Calver HQ, was able to pick up the frame with a hope headset fitted and all faced.

It’s been a really good bike, it has done a lot of local peak district trails, Wales, lakes and further. It’s been round various trail centers and even a bit of road and gravel esque stuff.

Great for bikepacking including the jenn ride 3 times and other grips.

Here it is today in winter mode on a very wet, rocky climb up Blacka moor

Those top paths from Cannings to ox stones to Burbage have deteriorated a lot and really suffer when wet like now.

Food to hear what everyone is up to.

I’ve been on the usual pottering bike rides and on foot.

Yesterday was a dig day on some local trails sorting out some bad ruts and muddy patches. Managed a ride after to test the work.

Headed up to the lakes today, just a bit of a stroll on arrival but plans for some rainy rides in next few days.

    Lovely photos above

Condolences to those with lurgy, I’ve had a dose of one of the viral things going round so have done a bit less these last few days. COuple of short rides after work Monday and Tuesday and only really felt like a little walk yesterday.

Was off today but trying to repair render on the house for some of the day. Got out for a ride later on, encountered some brave souls about to go for a swim in the murky depths of the Barbrook settling pond – I like a swim there in the summer but it is always a bit like swimming in water with bitter beer like clarity.

I’ve written to my MP (Labour), we shall see if I get a response, but at least I can try and add my voice to show that people do want a greener environment, better rail links and to row back from the car is king culture.

Ride after work around Eyam area last night – definitely needing lights the whole way round.

MAnaged to get a ride in this morning before the rain – out through the woods then Houndkirk, Burbage, Longshaw and back over Totley Moss then Blacka Moor to drop home.

    Get well soon @fazzini.

Out on the bike after work Tuesday which quickly turned into a night ride.

Trot about after work last night, it was very mild. The storm was very underwhelming in the Peak.

Today rootled out on the commute bike and heading out bouldering later. The weather seems very dull and humid again today.

People have all sorts of different situations, with work, caring duties, health (mental and physical).

With the nights closing in and weather getting worse it’s definitely good to have the nudge and an extra reason to get out.

It’s not doing anyone any harm and hopefully many will get some benefit.
