I have a big bag of, I’m guessing, around 50 spacers, all kinds in there. If you are anywhere near the Tweed Valley you are welcome to come and have a rummage in it

It might be more expensive than buying off the internet, but considering the number of hours you’ll spend using it, it’ll be money well spent.

Spend good money on your boots and your bed. If you aren’t in one, you’re in the other.

I can’t remember who first said that.

In case it reassures the OP mine was fine too.

Took half an hour to do, not nearly as painful as expected, wee bit sore for a week (by far the worst bit was the cat launching himself off the window onto my lap) but otherwise fine. Nothing stronger than paracetamol required (and I’m normally a bit of a wuss) Running again in a fortnight, on the bike again in less than a month. No problems at all since.

PS they said that in advance, it’s not because there was anything amiss with the first

Mine was about two years ago and they wanted two samples, first was four months after, second was about a month after that.

That’s the Scottish system, no idea what they want down south

I was always told not to put metal in them, but I once left a spoon in a 2,000W microwave for ten minutes (big one in a pub kitchen, with a frozen lasagne) and it was absolutely fine. By far the hottest thing I have ever touched, but no damage at all (to the microwave, there was some to my fingertips!)

Toad users. Do we need to be filming each other nowadays?

It sounds to me like he’s making Frog’s porn.

I had similar back in 2010.

Doctor was hopeless, basically just gave me codine to hide the pain and sent me away. Physio and chiropractor at least tried to fix the cause. The only person who could actually make it feel better was the lass at the gym who did the massages, I could swim after I’d seen her.

Then it cleared itself up miraculously and very suddenly (and painfully!) after about two months when something happened in my neck. It is there where I had had a trapped nerve, obviously one connected to the sciatic somehow as that’s where the pain and immobility were manifesting.

Anyway, my point is the problem isn’t necessarily where you think it is, get everything ‘upstream’ of there checked too.

Apart from 60 houseplants and an addiction to maps, of which I have around 300, I’m not too bad. But it is a very small house so not really any opportunity to acquire too much junk and I’m quite adept at ebaying or giving away surplus stuff.

Oh no, avoid the Aygos and it’s ilk at all costs. My ex girlfriend had one and it is the most uncomfortable car I’ve ever been in, I wouldn’t want to be doing many long journeys in that. Worst seats ever, and all noisy and gutless.

It’s been a while since I was in that position but I found medium sized diesels to be cheaper than small petrol ones, my first car was. 1.6 petrol, my second a 1.9 diesel and it was cheaper (due to the early demise of the petrol one that wasn’t down to having an NCD or anything)

I was reading that there is a nuclear power plant in the Kursk region, that writer’s theory was that Ukraine want that to attempt to trade for Zaporozhye (so?) Probably easier than retaking Zaporozhye itself, which I expect is quite well defended.

But then I also read that it was only 300 Ukrainians, which doesn’t sound like enough

I’m pretty sure they won’t be looking to hold that ground, it will most likely be attacking a specific, immovable target (some sort of supply depot for instance) although there would need to be a good reason not to just shell it or use drones, or maybe to draw Russian forces away from somewhere else.

Or it could just be symbolic/psychological, to show what they can do if they choose to to undermine Russian morale

These things, and there are many, which ‘are taking the world by storm’. Anyone ever seen any of them being used in the real world, or even heard anyone mention them? No? Thought not.

(Do scams count or we are just looking for genuine marketing BS?)

Ive tried a few over the years and have had Alfines on my singlespeeds for quite some time, race bike and commuter.  As ajantom says the two jockey wheels ones are the only ones which seem to work. You can adjust the chain line on an Alfine though, well ,on one direction, the thread for the hanger is huge and you just put washers behind it. Obviously not as adjustable as an old mech though

there’s a rayleigh dynatech in my loft which was bonded titanium… its 30 years old. its not been ridden in 10 yrs but looks to still be solid

I’ve got a 1993 Raleigh M-Trax made in a similar way, the three main tubes are titanium and the rest, including the BB shell, headtube etc is cro-mo.

I had heard that Raleigh bought a load of titanium cheap from the Russian navy after the soviet union collapsed but then discovered that it was too pure to weld and so had to glue it together with steel lugs.

Anyway, they developed a reputation for the tubes popping out but mine is still going strong. 3×7 LX, cantis, 1 1/8″ threaded steerer, biopace chainring, all the cool stuff

Last time we needed something spaying we took it to the vet…but… you do you

The OP should be fine doing it himself, as long as he doesn’t do it anything too garish, a nice neuter colour will be good

Us 24hr folks tend to be fairly well prepared, a good stock of a wide variety of foods readily available each lap. Although my ex did forget all of her food for the Puffer. Our problems mostly relate to how/where/when it all comes out again…

Not sure what the answer is but my advice, given what I’ve heard about the current state of the rental market, is speak to the old landlord first, don’t leave the new one unless you’ve actually got somewhere to go!

Why did you leave the old one? Would you want to live there again for a while or just as stop gap until you move again?

Thomson do an external 27.2mm.  Mine has been absolutely faultless. Not cheap new but there’s some secondhand bargains about as it’s an unfashionable size/routing, keep an eye on eBay etc. I’ve got three now and just shim them to the bigger seat-tubed bikes.

27.2mm external is also about the easiest to swap between bikes should the need arise, I do as I still have more bikes than droppers, hence the shims.

Age will kill mine but that’s a Transit, rust is the issue, although its 11 years old and still just cosmetic thankfully. Mechanically it’s sound. Golfs tend to suffer much less from tinworm attack.

As above look after it, keep on top of the servicing and you’ll be fine. You have the advantage that, having had it from new, there haven’t been any previous owners treating it badly.

I’ve got a Ford six years newer than you OP, 2013, (different model though, its a Transit) and removing the battery causes no problems whatsoever, nothing needs resetting at all. IIRC the OEM radio used to ask for a code but I’ve put an aftermarket DAB one in and that doesn’t, everything else is fine. I disconnected it most recently last week to do some work.

How about just putting them inside the car when unattended? I assume too little space when it’s full of people too.

Or get a roof box and fill that full of your much less nickable clothes and things to free up boot space for the bikes, or at least the good one?

There were rumours of a Ferrari-style ‘cease & desist’ order mentioned a couple of pages back for an unspecified technical infringement. Maybe no further action on that? Or would that be an FIA decision rather than a Liberty one?

Im concerned that they know its me testifying and that they also know my address so retribution is easily possible.

Possibly, but they also now know that you are not an easy target, you know who they are, and they are likely to be caught so may avoid you as a result

I’ve done it a couple of times.

First time he changed his plea to guilty at the last minute and I didn’t have to do anything.

Second time there was an admin cockup, the case was dismissed, she got away with it, and I didn’t have to do anything.

Not much to worry about with public speaking, if it’s a magistrate’s court (E&W) or Sheriff in Scotland there will be very few people there. The lawyers aren’t the shouty tyres you see on telly, just tell the court what you saw and that’s that. The clerk of the court will show you around when you arrive, give you brief explanation of what to expect and answer any questions.

Witnesses will be called one at a time. You won’t be allowed to see the ones before you. Afterwards you can either leave or sit in the public gallery and watch, which can be interesting. As above, the gallery is likely to be almost empty, couple of family members and the chap from the local paper at most, you said she doesn’t like public speaking, I’d be surprised if she’s speaking in front of more than ten people altogether.

I’ve been called again for a case in October, that was adjourned from May.

There is a LOT of sitting around doing nothing though, take a good book!

Never been to a county court (well, not a criminal one, did a civil one, just me and the judge in a room, the other guy never showed up so I won without doing anything, although that was for my employer rather than a personal thing)

He won’t be allowed to do another season if wins F2.

There’s also Sainz’s clause with Williams if Max does leave to go to Merc, he would be their best replacement. (Would Sainz want to? For 25 probably, but for 26 onwards?) Then they’ve still got Checo, DR, Tsunoda, Lawson and Hadjar to fit into the other three seats

I can’t remember if it was mentioned on here but I was reading something about Ukrainian special forces operating in various parts of Africa, attacking Russian soldiers there. The rationale was that a small group would cause Russia to divert disproportionate resources to protect it’s troops there, which made sense.

Are they supplying intelligence to AQ affiliates now though? That would be an interesting development…

I think that lass who was recieving the dirty texts from Whinger Spice may have been Checo in drag.

    .

Also, anyone know what Ottmar Snaufzaur (sp?) is on about with the new American team? He was a bit vague other than it’s not Andretti.

I’m not allowed to enter, for instance a bank, wearing a full-face helmet but I am if I’m wearing a burkha. Why does what it is make whether you can see my face or not more or less of a problem?

I’ve got a mix of Chris Kings and Hopes.

The CKs need servicing much less often but are harder to do and parts more expensive .

Hopes need a more frequent service but are a doddle and bearings are cheap. Also many axle adaptors are available so probably a better option for future-proofing for new frames. New CK axles are horrifically expensive.

I would avoid Tune, nice and light but the seals are terrible, I won’t use mine in the wet, dry races only!

I currently have no idea where my work telephone is.

I’m actually quite enjoying being without it. Only been gone a week so I’m still staying ‘it’ll turn up’

I have a very fashionable pony tail. I lost my bobble this morning by putting it on my left wrist instead of the usual right. Took me ages to find that.

.The FIA may have decided to turn a blind eye to that part of scrutineering, as it wouldnt have looked good for the sport if the whole top 10 had have been DSQ.

    Stroll, Albon, Gasly podium!

Are the cars not inspected after qualifying? They’ve been in parc ferme since the start of Q1 so it should have been picked up then and Russell demoted to the back of the grid. Or is scrutineering just after the race? I thought they were all weighed, not just some at random.

Although if it is tyres it could well have been legal in quali
