I would recomend a Makkinen. Or anything from Finland TBH.

Did 8 miles commute this morning. Overtaken by a Disco in the first 300yrds. Overtook the same car 7 miles later ( The driver in front had got it wrong and brought all the cars to a standstill)

I overtook one on my bike. A snowplough is only good as the car it is stuck behind.

I did check the freezing point of Magura brake fluid… -30C if anyone is interested. DOT4/5 is -40C.

No probs so far, but rigid singlespeed with no stans so not much to go wrong. Thaw it out when I get home though.

    What Chilli said.

Even full XTR wasn't good enough for mine, went for more boutique stuff, Tune Prince/Princess, Formula R1, RF Next, DA cassette, etc, etc. Even specced a lighter set of Ti bottle cage bolts. That spec certainly wont please many people but for me is perfect.
'Custom build' on the really nice stuff means a lot more than choice of SLX or XT with an upgrade to King hubs.
Maybe do as Yeti do and offer a couple of full builds, XT/XTR groups, EA70/EC90 bits, etc but mostly stick to frame-only. Once you get passed a grand for a frame people can afford to get a bit fussy about the other bits.

    Can't believe no-one has said it…

Zero miles on a turbo. It doesn't move.

    Sorry.

Serious point, if you are trying to record it for whatever reason, how is this affected by the resistance level? Do you go 'further' for the same cadence and gearing at a higher resistance?

    Don't bother. Stick with square.

For me, not a problem. I have a nice large arranged overdraft limit, upped it just prior to buying the new bike. For the kind of people who need the kind of loans in the OP getting an arranged overdraft at all may be an issue.

Noticed it said 'please ignor' but had two replies. Just thought I'd see what the fuss was about. Wonder how many we'll get altogether?

APR is a stupid figure to use, but it has to be quoted.

The interest with these payday loans is somewhere in the region of £9 per £100 borrowed, per week.

    Simple really….

If I need to borrow £200 for a week, on your estimate above this will cost me £18. To borrow it from my bank will cost me a £25 unarrnaged overdraft fee plus £0.76 in interest. Who's a loan shark?

I've found a few but not up to the standard of STW

They do take themselves very seriously…

Try an email to Sarah Parfitt jparamax@yahoo.com I'm sure she won't mind me putting her address here.

I failed completely to find an importer for the UK, found her on google. Based in New Mexico. Sent me an Alex XCR Pro Scandium rim for US$190 (about £125) including posting. Took about a fortnight.

Can do 35mph on the flat on the road bike. Have hit 55mph downhill with the wind behind me. Unfortunately, Scottish hills tend to have corners which prevent me going any quicker.

Friend of mine, who is his late 60s, was telling me of trip to the Pyranees (sp?) with his road bike. He used the phrase '…doing 78mph. I could have gone faster but I got scared.' 8OHope I'm like that at his age.

As for speed cameras, anyone know the one on Bracebridge Hill going down into Lincoln? 30 zone, went passed that at 42mph and completely failed to set it off, quite disapointed.

Went into the garage earlier to fix my 12 year old rigid steel singlespeed. Lovely Yeti ASR-C in there. Next ride on it March 28th, too nice for anything except racing, I'm scared of breaking it

On paper a 1989 Landy 110 TDi, claimed about 18 secs to 60, would do about that and once hit 85mph.

Actual slowest 1998 Mondeo 1.8TD, claimed 13 secs to 60. Fully loaded with three bikes and two people we timed it 28! Would do a ton though if it had a long enough run up.

Mate has a petrol Combo with LPG. Maybe look at petrol vans? Don't know for sure but Berlingo/Expert/Kango etc must come in petrol flavour. I know Astras do.

What Davefarmer said. I did his first suggestion following a crank-bolt rounding and could still use the BB, frame was unmarked.

Had a Mondeo for ages, recomended. Diesels ones are good. Also, 75/ZT pretty good and much cheaper than equivelant V70.

Used to work for Sky. LG codes are a PITA, you're very lucky to have found one that works.

Where are you? Network in Lincolnshire was fine. Well, it was in town, never any signal at home.

I don't have the luxury of being able to afford a SS kit as well as replacing the cassette!

You won't need a cassette if you go for SS

It's less bad than a Sky subscription, but only in that it's free.

Loving it. It's about the only time the flatlands of Lincolnshire become any fun to ride. Been out every day, even when we had 5 inches. Tioga Factory XC Superlights 1.8", fantastic road tyres!
If we have to have a winter lets have a proper one, beats three degrees and drizzle any day.

36:14, chosen as these were the bits laying around. Works well on all the 'hills' we have here in flat Lincolnshire but I can spin it out quite easily. Do some circuit training with a bunch of roadies on Tuesday nights and it's a good workout riding my SS!

6,500 calories a day for the last few years and a steadyish 9 1/2st, 5'11". If you ride 15,000 miles a year you can eat anything!

Cut down a bit now I have a proper job, only ridden 9,500 miles this year, probably down to 4,000 calories per day.

I eat a lot cakes and biscuits, really sweet tooth, and not many vegatables. I do eat a lot of fruit though. Also, I'm a vegetarian, don't drink very much and never eat 'ready meals.'

Just bumping this up for you.

If anyone knows of a left side set for Truvative GXP I would be most interested (for my other half's bike, I wouldn't touch Truvative with a sterilised barge pole, had a BB once and it lasted 25 hours, £80 Ti ISIS one. Chain Reaction's warrenty dept is shocking too, never bought anything from them since)

The foreign secretary of (if I remember correctly) Indonesia is called Jack ****t (or maybe Jaques). I just remember Charlotte Green interviewing him on the radio and tring to keep from laughing.

Not sure about On-one but with every other i have come accross they will be either 8 or 10mm diameter studs. Measure carefully.

Not been impressed with the current series, the Lancia episode in particular was a missed opertunity. However, this particular episode was indeed excellent, be nice to see a South American/North Pole/Botswanan/etc episode continue even if the series is axed.

Actually I think you can pay the depsoit and one rate and the balance at another?

    andrewh

I assume you are paying for it prior to dispatch? In which case the tax point will be when it is ordered/dispatched, nice and clear cut.

Just get them to mark it as 'low value gift' for VAT/customs purposes… Can cause problems if he courier losses it though.

Go to a scrappy to the new part. You will have to remove it from the donor vehicle yourself and you can a practice on that and see how it all goes together.

To get the size for a replacement measure the BCD (Bolt-circle diamter), this is the distance, usually in mm between the centre of one and the centre of the bolt directly opposite, on a 4-bolt chainset. On your 5 bolt it is the centre of the imaginary bolt directly opposite, if that makes sense. Then count the teeth and order one that matches, the description will be something like '39t, 5 bolt, 110BCD'.

I have found with road bikes 8/9/10 speed to be interchangable so don't worry about that, I have a 10 speed KMC chain running on an 8 speed Sora little ring and a 9 Speed Stonglight big ring.
