Devils bridge snacks is definitely up there. Shame as the bacon and sausage butties are lovely.

Went in 2017 and it wasn’t great TBH, most of the time we were riding in a massive group (12+) so there was lots and lots of delays for punctures and mechanicals etc. The riding days were far to short and most ended mid afternoon.

Andorra was very nice and would definitely go back there but not with Singletrack Safari.

For a semi uplift route you could park part way up cold fell road and head up onto Crag Fell, descending to ennerdale Bridge. Leave the Mrs and kids at the pub/cafe and pedal back up the road to the car. All cheeky this route but never busy.

Don’t have much advice but if she is willing the sinclair method could be an option. Sinclair Method UK will be able to help.

The Barrhorn in Switzerland is up there, although not as high as the Grande Sassiere.

Plaine Morte in Switzerland, ski lifts up to nearly 3000m,fabulous scenery with high alpine peaks and views over a glacier. Very varied descent all the way to Sion, starting with loose almost moonscape scree, finishing with some super exposed singletrack along side a gorge and a final drop through vineyards. High alpine routes dont get much better.

Either that or a trail alongside the Aletsch Glacier from fieschalp.

The riding around Sierre and Sion in Switzerland is totally epic. Have a look at routes for Plaine Morte and Bella Tola. Epic riding if you like big mountain routes. There is a couple of guide books available for the area, i can post a link up later if anyone is interested.

Thanks all for the replies, unless ground conditions improve this week I am thinking we will give it a miss. Can anybody recommend any other rides in the area that are of a similar ilk, but a bit lower in altitude?

La Massana in Andorra could be an option, very nice quite busy town at the bottom of the lifts to stay in. There was loads of kids being guided how to ride by instructors at the top of the 1st lift in Vallnord bike park, plus many other options for family entertainment.

Great stuff I was after info about the Grizedale trails. Sounds as tho the ones towards the Coniston side are the ones to look at. Thanks all for the replies.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. We would be looking for technical/singletrack riding as opposed to fire roads. Not looking for a full DH holiday but a nice balance of uplift and climbing would be good.

I have been with Mountain Bike Kerala and done part of Mike’s Pindari Glacier trip, a similar type of riding to that would be perfect. The only reason I am not going back to do the full trip is that I don’t think I can get the time off work when he run’s the trips.

Here is a vid of a night time ride we did down Ullock Pike back in July. Should give you an idea of what to expect!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IO3O1kawSI

We did it by going up spooney green lane and the main bridleway to the summit of Skiddaw. Then down from the summit to Longside Edge and Ullock Pike, dropping down to the road at the Ravenstone Hotel. From there back to Keswick on road, this took about 3 hours.

Sorry for the hijack, do the Keswick Tuesday night rides set off at bang on 6:30? Im interested in coming along but can’t leave Workington until just after 6, so would struggle to make a 6:30 set off.
    Cheers

One of my favorites in the Lakes, on Helvellyn is to start at the bottom of sticks pass (Thirlmere side). Ride along the A591 for a good few miles, go up to Grisdale Tarn via Great Tongue & Grisdale Hause, past the tarn & descend into patterdale(lovely techie DH). Then along the road to Glenridding & up Helvellyn via Keppel Cove (optional Detour to the summit). Along the Helvellyn ridge & over Raise to descend back to the car via the Thirlmere side of Sticks Pass.

Don’t think I have stripped the thread as there is still a fair bit of resistance when unscrewing it.
Yeah its the bolt that’s the problem not the adjuster.
Thought as much that I may need to fully strip the fork to get access to the top of the rebound assembly, but thanks for the help anyway.
