I think the pros seen wearing them will be getting them free, and if they’re free and everyone else is trying them, they’ve got nothing to lose.

    Handy link..

    http://www.brightspoke.com/t/bike-stem-calculator.html

Click on “Compare Two Stems” and enter the details.

I did see a better one once that showed you as a graphic, but can’t find that one anymore.

Lots of pro riders are using them, dissapointingly.

Saw Craig Bellamy with a pink one on the other day too

I’ve saved money by just sticking the hologram off a disney DVD to my forehead.

Steve Peat has nothing on me now.

Andituk / hainman – walkers expect a bell and used properly they are a great help. A polite “ting” from a distance away. You can alert them to your presence from further away than if you shout.

Yeah, but wheres the fun in that. Nothing better than watching a bloke leap out of the way dragging his kids and wife into the undergrowth, fearing for his life, despite the fact you’ve been gently cruising along at walking pace for the last 5 minutes behind them.

    Seriously, I’m in no rush.

    marvelous

just feels good to say, but i must be the only person who says it as for some reason people always look at me and smile repeating it “maaarrrvelous” as if i’ve invented the word.

I can’t help but say it like Rimmer. Maaaarrvelous :D

There just seems to be the one selfish nob on there, the rest seem sensible enough.

For the record, the bell went straight off both of my bikes, for many reasons, one of the more minor ones being, I think they’re a little rude. Who am I to expect people to move out of my way when I ding a little bell? I’m much rather wait till theres space then say “Excuse me” and then smile and say thanks.

I liked my WTB and I like my Bel Air, think they seem to be quite similar fit wise.

Are they sitting on the bead?

You should have a line going around the sidewall visible all the way round.

Lube it with some soap or chain lube and give it plenty of air. Mine were a struggle to get seated, and I had to replace them the other week because the bead on one was stretched and knackered.

They don’t do the CDs anymore :(

Shame as it was great for printing the route you wanted out, but understandable, as you can just save all the files then pass it onto a mate.

I think I did well, 9 months and 500ish miles and I changed it as soon as it started to feel a bit rough to turn with my finger.

Stuck a Hope in, seemed to spin much better.

Have you considered some shorts to go with your new jacket?

Maybe foxyrider is a jacket salesman and this is a really subliminal message.

Edit: Can’t find big bottles of the caravan cleaner anymore, but can find big bottles of bike cleaner. Strange.

Its used as a runway for top secret prototype space ships.

(I don’t know either, but have wondered the same thing)

Not really a bug, but was surprised to see theres no limit to file size when uploading avatars, that could eat up a lot of your bandwidth if we all start uploading huge pictures!

Remote, I bought a lever version and within the first ride realised the remote would be handy, and added one as soon as I got the chance.

The biggest benefit of adjustable is being able to adjust them to whatever height, whenever you want. Lever just restricts when you can do it. harder to be precise with height changes too I found.

I’m addicted to buying guide books. Team them up with an OS map and a little bit of knowledge and you can link routes up, mix and match different sections, and do some great rides.

    Vertebrate Publishing
guidebooks are the best I’ve found.

Thats interesting…I’ve spent a lot with them and got the discount email….anyone know what the legal position is for people who weren’t offered this but claim it anyway by entering an email address?… is it fraud or not?…not a troll just genuine interest!

I’m guessing it’ll only work if it recognises your e-mail address when you enter it.

    Hurrah, mines arrived now.

I need some glasses, but it seems a shame not to spend some more with 10% off…

Clever ploy by CRC there :D

    Nothing here, gits :(

They need to do wiggle style discounts for the more you buy, they’d be paying me to take stuff by now if they did.

weirdly I don’t mind so much if it starts raining when I’m already cycling, but the idea of starting in the rain…not a chance. Don’t mind it when I’m running though…

Agree with that, I love riding in the rain, but its just that much harder to motivate yourself to go out.

Have they been heard of recently? Are we sure they’re still alive? It does seem to have gone awfully quiet..

    Andituk

Because some one is or could be dead, and someone could be going to prison for a long time, and the evidence can only be collected once, so it needs to be done right first time.

I’ve just bought the discontinued wireless version second hand, it is very quiet, I’m running it with a panaracer mach ss and its fine for watching tv etc.

They use the Garmin Discoverer maps don’t they? Only the National Parks are available in 1:25k, rest is 1:50k.

(thats what I use I think)

    Andituk
    Free Member

The 1:25k makes it easier to zoom in to see more detail, such as which path to take if theres more than one option at a junction. Most of the time it will be sufficent, but the 1:25k is better if you can IMO.

yes, definately. you can cover too much ground to warrant the 1:25K

    Don’t follow that one :?

I had a vietnam based game on the old xbox. Can’t remember what it was called, but it was suitably spooky. lots of walking through jungle with nothing happening, followed by sudden gun fights.

I had that one, Vietcong was it? I think so..

It’s getting a bit of a panning in reviews and from some players.

SP is very short, but I personally really enjoyed it. The effects and atmosphere is excellent.

MP is fun. Different to the CoD games, feels more like a big battle. Again good fun.

I like it, but was dissapointed with how short the SP was, £40 for 4-5 hours isn’t great tbh.

IMBA mention some erosion studies here.. http://www.imba.com/resources/research/trail-science/natural-resource-impacts-mountain-biking.

In an ideal world, being allowed everwhere would be lovely, but I don’t think its sustainable. There are certain trails, at certain times of year that shouldn’t be used. I think possibly a reverse of the current situation, where we’re allowed on any path unless signposted otherwise would work. That’d spread us out more, reducing erosion, but still allow local authorities to protect more delicate trails. I think the amount of work and investment would, for now at least, be prohibitive though.

Pedros. Nice and strong, fit together to store, bright colour to make them easier to find in the bottom of your bag.
