Good thread this week, agree on Salford (the shopping “city” is a dump, why do they need to advertise it with massive red letters?) and GMP police stations. Oh and the Arndale.

I’d like to propose the complete and utter distruction of Leigh please. Most of the nicer buildings have already gone, so we might as well just flatten the place. Preferably with the inhabitants still inside.

    Starting with the library..

Then moving onto Market Street, home of various pound shops, a bookies and a cash generator.

Think I’ve bought from Tredz and Cyclestore before, both were fine. Bought a bike from the Cyclestore shop too.

You say stuck at the pump track, but he’ll probably just want to stay there all day anyway :D

I’d ride it yourself first, and see what you think he’s capable of. There’s some sections I’m sure he’d be ok on, but others have some big drops off to the sides. The good thing about Lee Quarry is that you can pick and choose sections and miss others off if you want, its pretty easy to find your way round.

He probably won’t love the climb up to the quarry much though :D

You’re better buying individual tools as and when you need them IMO. Needs a bit of prior planning before doing jobs, but it means you get only the tools you actually need, and you can spend a bit more to get good ones where necessary or cheaper ones where its less important, and you won’t get a big bill in one go.

The kennels is a push in a lot of parts, but ok in others. I hadn’t realised there was another path. It forks at one point, one way over to join the road, the other up to Two Lads, and then you can join the road on the other side. The quarry out of Belmont (I usually take the road passed the school, along the back of the playing fields and along the footpath there) is very boggy, even at this time of year. To be honest, the road isn’t that bad, apart from the motorbikes that go a bit too quick sometimes.

    Quite accurate though.

I’ve had as many pedal strikes on my Vaults as I did on my Wellgos. The Wellgos didn’t look half as nice though :D

On One have only got 9mm revs for 300. I need 15mm and white. Annoyingly Merlin have run out of the more expensive crown adjust Sektors now, so unless I find a deal somewhere else its the Poploc ones or nothing..

    Andituk

I suspect it is, as the only Poploc Sektor on Rockshox’s website is black and 140mm, but I’ve checked with Merlin and the details on the website are right. They also said the steerer will be “approx 220mm”.

Is a steel steerer much worse than an alu one?

There are keep left arrows on the bollards, so you can’t overtake there.

Tried Benadryl (not the one a day ones, they’re Cetirizine, the regular 8 hour ones)? They work much better than others for me and don’t seem to give me any drowsiness.

Brake pads? Do people really honestly stop at the side of the trail in the sort of wet, cold, filthy conditions that would destroy pads and replace them!?

Why not? They’re tiny and they clip in and out in about 30 seconds. Better than riding the rest of the way with no brake surely?

I’ve got a bad feeling about this thread…

    Tools and spares wise:
Multitool, Chain Tool, Mini Pump, Levers, Patch Kit, KMC Missing Links, Levers, Cable Ties, Spare Tube, Brake Pads.

I’ve actually got a photo of all my stuff laid out nicely and annotated on Flickr but I’ll be opening myself up to all sorts of abuse if I post that :D

I’ve got loads of Endura kit, trousers, shorts, liner shorts, base layers and jacket, and apart from a ripped seam in the bum of some Humvee trousers, have had no problems. Always look at their kit expecting it to be good quality.

My MT500 jacket is one of the best things I’ve ever bought, love it.

Can’t imagine he got arrested for breach of the peace for having a knife, he must have kicked off when they went round.

Having a knife would be possesion of an offensive weapon surely.

At first I thought it was a harsh sentance, but the more I think, the more I understand, it has to be harsh, if there’s no respect for the justice system, everything else crumbles.

It’s drummed into you from the moment you get picked to do jury duty that you DO NOT discuss anything with anybody at all. There’s no way she thought it ok to talk to a defendant.

I used a spanner and a pair of pliers, once you’ve got it tightish you can tighten it up properly with a socket, they’ll be enough friction to stop it spinning then.

Did mine yesterday, the Fox guide is by far the easiest to follow, only tricky bit was tightening the nut on the end of the damper, it just wants to spin.

Sunset over a cloud inversion from Stanage Edge. Stunning moment as you crested Stanedge Pole to see it stretched out all around.

Bikes have shown me some fantastic things, so many people in the world only see stuff through their TV or computer.

Have to say I was dissapointed with Gisburn when I went a few weeks ago. Some of the sections were fantastic, the bottom loop is really good, but the top loop was terrible.

It was pouring down at the time, which didn’t help, but lots of it seemed in need of repair work, which I understand is underway.
