Really enjoyed the Dark Peak article in the new mag. I like Jenn’s stuff, she’s good, liked other articles she’s written too.

I agree with Poly I think. It’s certainly possible, and I’ve no doubt it has happened/does happen, but it’s a lot of work to go to to steal a bike. Also worth remembering a nicked bike will, usually, sell for much less than it’s actually worth, meaning you’d have to put in a lot of work and get very lucky to get any kind of decent return.

On the brightside, it does already look like it’s starting to erode, £50k well spent there :D

Its part of a model museum thing in Germany IIRC. The planes really do land, taxi, arrive at a gate and then take off again, everything is done to a proper timetabled schedule. Mental.

Interesting, never seen the Swaziland coins before, or heard of them being used. Lead coins used to be quite common, but obviously the price of lead has affected that a bit, plus very few machines will take them these days. In fact, I’d say it be easier to pass off fakes to a shop assistant than to a vaguely recent coin validator in a machine.

I like Rubber Queens personally, plenty of volume for the rocky stuff.

MBR’s bike of the year was the Trance X4 iirc.

The Oakleys were from the Eyewearoutlet stand, returned stock I think, so much cheaper than RRP. They had some show deals on too.

The Hope stand had the usual stuff in nice arty displays, probably the best stand there for gear stuff. Nothing I hadn’t seen before online, but the new cyclocross hydraulic adapter was on there, and all the new lights etc.

I went thinking it’d be a day out and a look at some nice bikes and bits, and to be honest, was dissapointed. Not worth the 5 hours I spent sat in traffic anyway.

I did buy some nice Oakleys though.

Lovely riding, but technically, isn’t Verbier the mtbike equivilant of Verbier? ;)

    Endura MT500 hooded!

Agreed, love mine to bits. The hood is the best thing in the world when its raining. Love the sound of the rain falling on it whilst you’re wrapped up nice and dry :D

Even if you don’t care about him, the three innocent people who were shot deserve to know what happened, and what was done about it, and what could have been done better.

To be fair to them, producing 4 different routes in 4 different parts of the country and riding them all would be a pretty big job.

If I remember rightly, the routes are done for them by a couple, who’ve also written guide books.

A branch in the spokes is the most powerful brake ever, in my experience.

Are you sure it was the council? Something about the whole thing doesn’t look right to me. Whats the new tarmac for? Parking? For what?

I adore my hooded MT500 but I wouldn’t call it packable.

How does this compare to the Liberator then? Price and lumens wise?

And will it be anodised? :D

Check the angle too, I changed the forks on my bike recently, and the slight change in saddle angle from the slacker head angle meant my arse was raw after the next few rides, until I realised :o

Problem with PPCs is that they’re all ****s. I’d have no problem with ticketing cars parked on peoples land if it was done in a proper, regulated way, but its not. They do what they please. They can charge whatever they want, set the terms at whatever they want. There is no real appeal process, as the people who review the appeal are the same people who get the money.

And the tactics they use to scare you into giving them money are disgusting, I had one shout down the phone at me, telling me there was no point running away, I’d parked illegally and they were coming round to my house in the next few days.

Loads of more generous fitting jerseys about, from the likes of Royal, Troy Lee etc.

Or go down to the nearest sports shop and look at things like Nike Dri Fit.

Blek has disagreed with those who claim Banksy has copied his work: “People say he copies me, but I don’t think so. I’m the old man, he’s the new kid, and if I’m an inspiration to an artist that good, I love it. I feel what he is doing in London is similar to the rock movement in the Sixties.”

    Seems fair enough.

GMP say the Salford rumours are completely untrue, and there’s no signs of anything at the moment. They’re bringing in officers to work a 12 hour shift tonight though, presumably a precaution.

What is that kid’s toy neckwear she insists on sporting all the time?

    It’s her mothers pearl necklace.

Done, but I agree with Brant really, I can’t imagine a Visitor Centre or a new bike shop would survive very long. Pursuading someone like Ride On to move there might work if its down near the road, so easily accessible for passing trade and people not going to the quarry.

I don’t think they’ll ever be enough trade for a cafe or visitor centre though, even if you look at other places with them, they need to be in very busy places with more than just mountain bikers.

The biggest thing LQ needs is some proper secure parking.

Straight on is fast and pretty smooth. Turning off towards North America is more like the rest of Cutgate, more rutty and sandy. I prefer to descend that way then climb up the smooth bit, although, straight on is fun for speed too.

From the Langsett end, I prefer to go up and passed North America, and then turn left at the T-junction up onto Cutgate, and then on the way back, turn right at the junction and down to North America, then turn left through the gate, then right at the T-junction, down into what were the woods. Not many trees left last time I went, until you cross the bridge.

Prefer it from the Langsett end, either just up to the cairn and back, or down to Fairholmes for a longer ride.

Can we just flatten some of Stockport and make the A6 dual carriageway then? Worst thing about going to the Castleton and Hope bits of the Peak are having to drive through Stockport to get there..

I’d imagine lots of it is bought by people who just desperatly need to get as drunk as possible, as cheaply as possible, and don’t really give a toss where it came from.

I guess its probably with the same with other drugs, you know its cut with all sorts of crap, but you’re so desperate, you don’t care, as long as you get the fix.
