My sti impreza is rubbish in the snow… but that’s down to the tyres and the power. Under wet and dry conditions their grip is awesome. We looked at the diesel leggy when we got the new passat the only thing that put me off was the new subaru diesel engine was a bit noisy(bag of nails) compared to modern diesel’s from other brands… And more importantly the boss/wife liked the VW.

Whinlatter, Dodd, Lowther Park/Dent(west coast) Setmurthy etc etc. Basically any of the forests would be fine. High fells are pretty much fine too so long as you have some sort of control of your dog. You don’t see so many sheep on the tops as the grazing is cr@p and they tend to steer clear of the main walkers routes….. generally. 😉

I run 23 conti gp4000s and live in the lakes and find them the best tyre I’ve used thus far. Great in dry and brill in the wet(which is a big + when your doing the passes a lot). I suppose a stiff alloy bike might feel harsh on them but most carbon frames and handlebars take so much of the road vibration away the tyre size don’t matter.

Wonder if Kelly thinks he’s from the British Isles.

He’s the first to take the green jersey isn’t he? Second rider to stand on the podium, Robert Miller being the first with the polka dot jersey.

Its not a good route that mate your doing blacksail the wrong way, its brilliant going Ennerdale to Wasdale but a waste of time that way. Haycock ain’t worth the effort. Lots and lots of far far better stuff in that area.

TCP, it stinks but it kills the bugs in wounds or bites effectively. Unlike savlon etc which only does half a job.

Its a £15 part its not worth your time and effort. Hope you faced your BB shell, before installing it… without that you haven’t got a chance.

Have you tried a high volume sleeve on the rp23. Had the same problem with my epi never quite made full travel. Replaced the standard sleeve with the high volume one and its miles better, super plush.

And to all those that still think Ti must be best because Lance road a Litespeed in a timetrial well over a decade ago, I think he will have been more interested in the weight and geometry of the Blade rather than the handling characteristics of Titanium.

The reason was Trek didn’t do TT bikes then and they wanted a US brand they/he new to work with.

My point about Lance and the Litespeed was about companies using frames/products other than their own, not that Ti was better faster or whatever… 😉

Firmly in the carbon is better camp here 😉

Patience is a virtue… At the price your paying nothing comes close. My buddies took 3 weeks longer than advertised… Still he’s very very happy with the outcome.

Got the Ultimate(feedbacksports) pro-elite, brilliant workstand so easy to use. Pricey though, I got it heavily discounted, not sure I’d pay rrp.

Lance won is 1999 tour TT’ing on a Trek branded Litespeed. Used to be quite common but much less so now, as the big bike brands put a lot of money into developing there TT and road bikes in wind tunnels etc.

Still got my Yo Eddy hanging in the garage, brilliant bike.
Seem to remember Keith Bontrager being none too keen on Ti as a frame material for mountain bikes either. History has proved them right as the vast majority of Ti mountain bikes from that era have long since cracked and gone to mtb heaven.

Yeah that could also be the cause.. but most commonly it would be a cramped position, especially when mtber’s are venturing into road bikes they tend to set them up similar to their mtb… which don’t work on the road.

For Lower back pain I’d look at torso position whilst pedalling. Being too cramped on a road bike will cause your lower back issues. But its a can of worms your saddle may need moving back or down or handle bar position may need moved forward or down etc etc. Play around with it, it takes time to find the perfect position.

Ayup fella I’ve got a rh 959 pedal sitting in the garage doing nothing. Lh side jammed in a crankset and the hexbolt axle was damaged trying to get it out. Pedal is well used but its spins smooth without play. Dunno what its worth but if its any use you can have it for a fiver plus a couple of quid postage.

+1 finish line wet lube. Any synthetic lightweight oil would be good. Don’t use real oil it’ll cause the freehub bush to swell.

Personally I’ve always assumed that anything that doesn’t say “Estimated dispatch: Tomorrow” means it’s not in their hands ready to go.

    +1

“All products on our website show an estimated dispatch day. Please note that this is an estimate only. The estimated dispatch day depends whether the item is in stock in our own warehouse here or if it has to be ordered from our suppliers. Before 1530, a dispatch day of “Today” means that the item is in stock here and it will normally be dispatched the same working day.”

Good guys always had good service from them.

The new groupsets have a improved compound in the pad to improve wet and dry braking so yes 105 is the same as 7900 Duraace but if OP hasn’t got the latest 105 group the latest pads will improve things.

My dura ace pads are excellent, I ride Honister and the like regularly in all weathers and never feel like I’m under braked. Upgrade the pads.

Shouldn’t creak if its greased, thought mine was creaking. It turned out to be the stearer crown joint(fox). Turned the bike upsidedown and put some locktite 290 in the joint left for a couple of days upside down whilst it cured. Hasn’t creaked since.

Ignore this post, they’re still listed. Think my phone was having issues with their site… or i’m just going blind. 😳
