Check your saddle isn’t to high. Rolling your hips causes all sorts of back problems. Had it for years, spent a good bit on treatment. Then got fitted to the bikes properly and the back hasn’t complained since. Remember though, back problems take time to settle down if this is the issue.

Yep do a lower leg service. You should be doing this 3-4 times a year conditions dependant. Its dead easy once you get the hang of it and will only take 15mins once your familiar with the process and will save you getting worn stanchions. Fox fork seem to come from the factory with the absolute min fluids and as you ride these fluids are slowly lost. Doing the lower leg service let’s you replace these lost fluids, as opposed to just lifting the seals which only cleans the seals. Simply lifting the seals isn’t really the way to do it also cos its to easy to damage stuff when your prising them out. Have a look on Mojo’s site think there’s a tutorial movie showing you how to do it.

Sticky forks usually means dry seals, do you turn the bike pre-ride to allow some oil to get to the foam rings?

Getty rarely actually sue in the Uk do they? They threaten all sorts but stop short of actual court action. In the uk if you have a copyrighted image on your website, I think the licence holder must give you a notice to remove in the first instance, which Getty don’t do and just send you a bill.

Lots of our work involves safety training for power stations which obviously involves site visits. The indemnity is a absolute must from our own point of view, but also more and more companies require the details of the level of cover at the quoting stage. Not cheap but we couldn’t work without it.

OW, if it helps I have the Cosmo(same material as tool) and a balance AS jacket for the mtb and Xenon AS for the road. AS is better for those wetter normal british winter type days as it has better shower resistance than the softshell material. Its also lighter and drys much quicker whilst riding and is easiler to pack away if it fairs up. The Cosmo is warmer so it is used more in the proper frozen winter stuff when you never take your jacket off. As I said in your previous thread on this, take into account the different fit types gore do there jackets in. My Cosmo and my Balance are ‘comfort’ fit and They fit best in the Small. I’m 5’11 with 38″ chest. Whereas in the Xenon I’m very definately a medium as it is their ‘slim’ fit. The Tool is a ‘straight’ fit. So if it were me i’d edge towards medium as best fit.

Rear wheel creaks are often caused by the skewer(lightweight ones) not able to clamp down tight enough. Try a different skewer or grease your dropouts to see if it is the cause.

Ellsworth epiphany, +1 super plush, best climbing 5″er out there. Efficient descender, but cos of the head angle you’ll find some other 5″ more stable. It’s also quite a lightweight frame so not one for the clydesdales among us. Have fun searching
    . 😉

Stick your skewer in at a angle and tap it out from the other side. Its just a o ring holding it so it will come out relatively easily.

Check out Royles for some gore bargains. Depends on the fit(gore have 3 different fits) size wise. I’m 38 chest and have a small in the cosmo and medium in the Xenon. Both fit perfectly.

If its m970 xt m770 middle ring fits perfectly. You have to space the granny which is easy or you could just get a xtr m970 granny as its not that much more than xt.

Use knee warmers with your bibshorts, far better fit IMO if you have good bibshorts. The Craft knee warmers are the best I’ve used, bloke on ebay sells them cheaper too. 😉

much better to duck left as you leave the summit and head down to the tarn.

Ahh yes that does look better, it eventually joins the singletrack I rode up below sharp edge once heading to Foule Crag, thought at the time it would be better down than up  Think thats what

PT do you see much of Bish/Mike on the tuesday rides? Haven’t seen him about for a age.

The one that join’s fp that comes in above the pub? That bits pretty good granted, I just don’t think much of the bit off the top and down Scales fell, its man made, smooth with the odd tight corner and pretty untechnical really then just a fast grassy bank till you hit the zigzags.

Nar.. Scales tarn descent is boring IMO. Chute sounds promising option though.

Have you gone off Skiddaw via Carlside and Ullock? It’s a must do descent, at none busy times of course. 😉

Theres also a good ride you could tie in with your above route if you go up from Mosedale, when the road ends head up by the ‘mine’ on the back dotted path to the hut on the horizon(Great Lingy Hill), Then head south on the path which forks and heads up onto Knott. From knott head down to Burn Tod and follow the secret singletrack shhhhhh  to Horsemoor Hills. Great little route, but also can be wet on the way up, but worth it.

If you take fp at Mungrisdale round White Horse Bent then follow it through to Mungrisdale common its all rideable but will be very muddy at the mo. You then head SW up onto Foule Crag and onto the Summit of Blencathra to get to the top which is 50/50 rideable. Thing is though there isn’t really any good descents off Blencathra, they’re either mundane or they’ll kill you!!! We tend to just head over Mousthwaite Comb at the junction below White Horse Bent.

Also if your trying to head from from the Summit of Blencathra directly towards skiddaw house its very boggy un-bike friendy ground, so I’d give that a miss I I were you. 😉

What’s the story with Nan Bield?

They’ve built up the corners on the switchbacks(kentmere side), TBH its hasn’t ruined it and it needed to be done before they got to deep and collapsed.

Its all rideable, but very technical in places. For about 200 metres is becomes very disjointed and washed out. You can get through it, but it takes some good line choices. 😉

I’m talking nonsense about Barton Fell… It’s Beda fell I think, on the Ullswater Singletrack route in the VG book

Was gonna say, didn’t looky right. 😀 Nick you can link that singletrack in if you do the FP from The Knott to Angletarn Pikes to Boredale. Which is brilliant that way round. At Boredale take the BW NE over Beda, which is a climb at first, but not too bad. Only trouble is its a pain to get to we did it by riding up high street, which whilst rideable is a long climb. The other option would be to carry from Hayeswater up the grassy bank.

It is if you go down carlside and then Ullock Pike 😉

Hia, sorry missed your invite. Went out last night as usual, 😳 managed to put and nice hole in my shin after a disagreement with a rock and a over the bars incident dropping into Dalehead tarn.. Ouchy! So will be mostly licking my wounds tonight, theres no chance the boss will let me out 2 nights in a row either, more to the point. 😛

We did high street backwards to get the sublime bit of cheeky trail by angle tarn in the other week. Its wet but it ain’t that bad. It was all rideable up didn’t get bogged down, so wouldn’t worry too much.

If Cav’s there or there abouts he’s likely to win on current form. The finish was a rise hence the messy sprint. The main team contribution was protecting their man and the extremely high pace set stopping the one day specialists like Gilbert etc, therefore making any attack next to impossible(as you said).

Hmmm could be anywhere but if your thinking north lakes my guess’s would be Rigg Beck/Sail Beck to buttermere…. or perhaps the singletrack off Knott and down Burn Tod on Caldbeck….. or Gasgale gill even.

What’s the Fit like on these (I’m an eleven)

I have 43 in the s-works shoe and 44 in the defroster cos i use the thicker sealskin merino sock. This fits best for me. Spec shoes are wider in the toebox than most shoes so folk who say use 44 in either shimano or sidi are often better of in 43 spec shoe. for reference I also take 43 in my everyday and running shoes.

Excellent boot and never had cold feet in them combined with sealskin merino socks. Try using ‘nl20’ code for a extra 20% off, makes it £71.99. Valid till end of sept.

The normal(crude based) oil will make the bush swell and increase wear. I’ve used synthetic oil before when stuck which was OK, but mineral oil is the best bet.

    anc

Its dead easy, you’ll be fine. 😉 As jumpupanddown says only us mineral oil and just watch out for the small washer that goes between the hub and the freehub body. Sometimes folks forget to put it back or lose it. 😉
