On the latest model, if the car stands for any period of time the motor releases one caliper then the other every now and then to try to combat this very issue of siezed calipers and bust plastic motor housings…. Lets hope the computer doesn’t get confused and manages to release both sides at the same time…. crunch!

Its a mot fail, so nee choice but to cough up. Vw dealer job only too :-\ When the near side went on ours i read the other would go fairly soon, so i took the aa up on there kind offer of repair cover insurance… sure enough 2 months later the other side went. AA paid up thank god so saved me 200 quid.

Spray windowlene or the like on the clean frame then apply and position the tape moving all the bubbles out from under the tape. Works just as well as the made up mixtures and easier to hand.

Lezyne as above, expensive but brilliant. Check out the reviews on cr or evans, very positive.

+1 inflate with tube, then leave overnight. Goes up easy next day with soapy water and track pump. Even easier if the tyre is warm(room temp)

Most folk size up in shimano and sidi but with specialized and mavic usually their actual shoe size is right. but that don’t tie in with what you found with your spesh shoes so you may have to try them on.

One of the issues with carbon steerers is they are much more likely to be damaged by hamfisted mechanic’s resulting in nasty failures. They can also have problems with lightweight stems which don’t wrap the steerer(2 bolt type), if the user overtightens one of the bolts it can crimp the tube.

That said i’m completely happy and have total comfidence in the carbon steerer on my madone, but i used a torque wrench and followed the installation instructions. Simples init.

The pic of the trek is big G Hincapies’s init? It failed after he’d had a earlier heavy crash in the Paris roubaix.

+1 Griplock. Much better than the standard one especially if you have longish travel forks. 😉

Not a Friday car… the handbrake motors go on all of them eventually. Our first side went so the aa sold me their repair cover for £70 after they recovered it. Sure enough 2 months down the line the other side went. Luckly the repair cover paid for that. But it don’t end there its had the stearing lock fault which is very common, all 4 injectors replaced as part of the vag recall, engine speed sensor died just before xmas.

Nice cars when they work….. But that’s my 4th and last vw.

Other cars a subaru impreza which hasn’t missed a beat in 9 years. Legacy would be my next top of list car.

Where the paths spilt below greenside there is obvious zigzag carry for a wee bit. but once passed that its becomes pretty challenging technical rock for a bit as you traverse the crags at the end of the valley on a shoulder the path follows it has some nice drops to your right(close eyes), doable if your committed and pick your route through well. When you start to head east there’s great singletrack which might have the odd boggy section around brown hills this time of year but nothing to worry about. you then drop out down on the lower path which is great, the one which heads to dockray will be wet this time of year.

There’s 2 footpath routes there. both are good i assume your on about the one on the south side of the valley its a more straight down affair on a well defined path but still good. Personally i prefer the path that skirts round the north of glencoyne it has some real tecky singletrack, you keep your height longer and on a clear day the view is pretty special. both very quiet usually.

Its pretty typical for this time of year bit mud but nothing to worry about. Rode up there from spoony green last Sunday.

Zero’s have cup and cone bearings not cartridge. When i got my zeros i took them apart after a few rides and realised the seals weren’t great and the oe grease was poor, they were a mess inside tbo . So i replaced the grease with a quality waterproof jobby and packed it in and they’ve been fine since… super smooth.

On the plus side their really easy to work on.

I’d be looking at your setup also. Something ain’t right if your upsetting your Achilles, can be lots of things but saddle height and foot support/angle/cant are the usual suspects.

Most hot spots are nowt to do with your pedals/cleat/shoe interface. its the way your feet sit in the shoe, a correctly fitting support insole will sort this. Like specialized footbeds or superfeet.
Road pedal wise i prefer shimano over look, as the look cleat always used to creak and drive you nuts. sidi, spesh, shimano and mavic all do great road shoes. lots of good deals on sidi and mavic at the mo.

The issue’s are only in one persons head really, everyone still rides it.

Time wise, depends if you include the extra bits. But with all the extra stuff takes us a couple of hours on a night ride with nee stops.

We always park by the portinscale suspension bridge as its free and never busy in the morning or evening.

Both good, I alternate them so I don’t get bored. I prefer the one through the woods, its looser and steeper towards the end.

Betd can put a new thread in the frame for you if it goosed. Premature bb failure is almost always caused by installation issues.

Trainings about improving your fitness/performance, init ? Training whilst suffering from a virus is pointless because you will not improve more likely the opposite… Have a rest go with the flow.

Set them so the ball of your big toe is slightly in front of the axle of the pedal, 10mm or so. As for angle see how you walk, toe in, toe out or pretty straight and replcate that with your cleats. Then play with them for the next 20 years till you find what’s right ..
