They(seca) are excellent as said the beam pattern is very usable. Plenty of light for any trail condition and good battery life. The one thing that lets them down slightly but isn't a deal breaker for me, is the mounting strap to the helmet mount. It could be better IMO and can sometimes move a little when you land stuff.

Rutland have the Light and motion seca 900 ultras on offer at the mo 😉 I have the 700 and thats plenty light for lakes tecky stuff, so the 900 must chuck out some serious light. The beam pattern on the seca's are excellent and they have 4 light output modes.

Best ways up IMO are Over the Dodds or keppel cove as both are pretty much all rideable…. if you have the legs! Best ways down IMO Dollywagon to Patterdale or Sticks into Glenridding, both cracking descents.

I do mine that way too. 😉 I used to lift the seals but never liked doing it, as there was a risk crud/grit could fall into the void as you lifted the seal making things worse and also the obvious chance of a slip and a scratched stanchion. 😕

Brill tyre here in the lakes, I am using the ust one though. I think the love hate thing comes from having a pressure sweet spot, outside of that they're not great. I run them 25-30psi and they're brilliant on rock wet or dry(the front is especially good). They roll really well for a large tyre, I've raced on mine and not felt they where holding me back 😉 they're durable too I got a year out of my last set riding 2-3 times a week in the lakes.

Fat alberts are a great tyre and the new front and rear versions are even better despite the dodgy review on bikeradar which made me think twice before getting them. Think the reviewer must have ran them high pressure as the perform better at lower pressure. Absolutely brill on lakeland rock wet or dry. They also roll really well for a big tyre.

FC passes only cover the venue you purchase at.

Grizedale and Whinlatter are on the same pass.

That pass has gone up from £20 to £40 I think for the two centres and £30 for just whinlatter

Warm the tyre slightly it becomes more flexible and far easier to seat/seal. I also use a small amount of diluted washing up liquid on the bead to give a good seal.

Sks airbase pro works every time for me, but I find the biggest factor in getting them to inflate first time is the temperature of the tyre. If its warm the carcass is much more flexible and seals far far easier 😉

Xt770 middle works fine with m970 inner and outer, least it does on my mates bike 😉

Watch out if your not buying shimano rings(m970/m770) as although the bolt holes are standard 104, 64 BCD, shimano rings are offset slightly. So if your mix and matching with non shimano rings some spacing will be required.

    edit : Too slow 😀

Like this? Turners have always been quite tight round the front mech due to their chuncky build. Mates horst-link one took quite a bit of playing with to get right. The m961 should be ok as its smaller than the m971 which has larger pivots.

Was up there last night some parts are very dry and others are very muddy from the frost raising the surface. The rain that due over the next few days is gonna be well sh*tty and quite slippy in places. Was 18th last year but giving it a miss this year(chicken!!) so have fun and good luck to you all. 🙂

XTR m970 bb's are excellent, they last me a good 2 years in the lakes riding 2-3 times a week and they cost £35. So for me I can't see the point other than bling with the Hope and CK stuff which actually weigh more.

Easy to check if it's the battery, borrow another one and see if it fires up and stays on. Mine didn't 😥

Hmmm, service ain't that good imo. Mine had very similar fault. They said the head unit was knackered but I could have 10% off a new seca head unit and no offer of a repair. Thing is I could buy a complete seca 700 race for the same price batteries and charger included, not really looking after your customers me thinks!! I suspect they're not really interested in doing repairs as they know the LED units are far more reliable. Good luck!

    L.U.S.T. TECHNOLOGY
    LIGHTWEIGHT ULTIMATE SIDEWALL TECHNOLOGY

Maxxis Mountain Tubeless tires, certified to UST® standards, now feature Lightweight Ultimate Sidewall Technology (L.U.S.T.). L.U.S.T. offers better puncture resistance, improved air retention, better longevity and lower weight than previous tubeless technologies. Our engineers were not content with simply having one of the best tubeless tires on the market. Instead, they went back to the drawing board, reinvented the tubeless tire from the casing and tread and addressed your concerns about tubeless technology. By adding a thin fabric layer to the sidewall, covered in a special air-tight rubber compound, Maxxis created a casing that lighter, tougher and holds air better. Now, it’s available to you on all of our Cross Country and Freeride Tubeless tires.

15% lighter than our previous tubeless tires
Better air retention than competitors’ tires
    Increased sidewall puncture resistance

    Marketing bs me thinks 😆

    Is it full of water!!
No way will it be 29lbs with that spec, I have a similar spec and its 26.6lbs, most epi's come in 26-27lbs

    24.5 lbs one here http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=159517&highlight=epiphany

Your kit won't make 4.5lbs difference

P.s is that Nicks old bike?

Either ways good deffo, suppose we tend to go anti as we'd usually carry on to grizedale and claife and that's definitely better anti. Loughriggs always busy during the day so prefer to go up it, good at night though 😉

Anti best imo you can put in the cheeky bield crag that way which is well worth the climb up through bank quarry.

Very little snow about below 1000ft, but there is a rally in grizedale on saturday so most of that area will be closed off.

Most definately snow I'd say, couple of inches dumped last night around cockermouth. Whinlatter and the bash are excellent in the snow so don't let that put you off. In my experience, the bash is easier if its snowed as the snow fills in the gaps 😉

If your out of warranty madison will more than likely offer you the seca head unit with a small discount. The discount is crap, think it was about 5 or 10%. I could buy a whole light system online for the same price therefore meaning I would 2 batteries and charges for the same outlay.

Not sure but it looks a bit lighter on the fells than tuesday nights snow but has laid to a lower level.

We did it all on wednesday night and there was 3-4 inches on the south and a little less on th north. Good fun but quite tough going up. That said its rained since which removed some of the snow on the fells and then snowed again on friday.

Been thinking whether they're worth it recently also. In the end I stuck with the m970 one which you can get for £35 and are really quite good. I get 2 years out of them. At £130 including the tools from av which was the best price I could find, the ck really wasn't worth it. Bit of bling really, that's not to say bling isn't good, just I thought the money could be better spent elsewhere
