Philfive if you read back through this thread you’ll find people who have used them after you and got fraud on their card, so I’d say no. Keep a close eye on it or perhaps think of having a word with your bank, they seem to be aware of this problem now so may wish to replace it as a precaution.

Thanks for clearing that up 😉

I still can’t believe that’s the Daniel Loughlin owner or CRC….. It would be a PR disaster for him to do something like that!! Just can’t see it.

Hmmm… This thread could be going AWOL soon.

BTW, I’ve not had any fraudulent transactions on my debit card despite using CRC regularly for years…

As have many of us but the transactions in the last few weeks have been subject to fraud….. they’ve got a problem.

Remember its lumpy to say the least round here and I only really get to use the 11 sprocket on the descents. The 28 matters if the hills are big and steep enough. You.. or should I say I 😳 begin to labour and stall on the 25 on Honister, Hardknott and the likes. Even Jebby uses a 28 when he storms the Fred Whitton in record times 😉 talented git

If you mail them they respond with a duplicate of the message that told you to mail them. 😆

Yes it helps I run 53-39 with two sets of wheels one with 11-28 and other 11-25. Most of my road training involves riding lake district passes, on the 11-28 my times are generally a good ten minutes quicker on a loop of say 4-6 passes. The 28 sprocket allows me to keep my cadance high and therefore not lose much momentum in the tough sections.

I’ve mailed them, I think its worth it as it might help them establish a pattern if they know exactly which account holders got hit.

The other thread isn’t a witch hunt its simply a load of CR customers spotting a link and warning others. You cannot measure a issue like this by posts on some random mtb forum its is totally flawed!! The posts on here are likely to be the tip of the iceberg as many people (a)won’t have been hit yet (b)not seen their statement and/or not made the connection (c) and many many customers just won’t use forums.

If people didn’t post what they experienced, then CR would have probably be unaware there was a breach and the fraudsters would continue to cash in. 👿 Now at least they are dealing with the issue, yes bad in the short term for CRC, but good in the long term for everyone. 😉

They’ll start listening when the orders stop coming in. They’re in the process of denial so to save the companies good reputation which let’s not forget is beyond our shores. TBO I feel sorry for them at the moment because there between a rock and a hard place. Denial and hoping it blows over may work but it could also backfire as it breeds mistrust in there customer base. I for one won’t use them again unless I believe the problem has been sorted like many thousands of others out there and that’s gonna hurt.

Nope just checked the email again and there is a link in green at the bottom which says “Click here to activate the voucher now!” Now I’m not saying there weren’t other ways to activate it but thats what most people will have done and I reckon it could be a weakness.

I’m thinking the email with the voucher is the main suspect. If I remember you had to click the link on the email to register the voucher on your account, this may have done something which allowed the crims to log your card details.

I think we’re well beyond the realms of coincidence now. Soon as they know the facts CRC need to make some form of statement to there customers as to what’s has happened. I’m sure they’d like to keep consumer confidence they’ve built over the years…. But word travels fast in the biking community. There could be many more customers details which have been stolen but are yet to be used fraudulently, if this is the case these cards need replacing before the fraudsters get there chance. Personally my cc company were very interested in this possible link and the numerous posts on biking forums about fraud after shopping with them. They have instructed the fraud dept to investigate this link.

Troutie can do you a head unit that will work with your old battery and charger. 😉
When mine died i got a new seca 700 with battery and all from Merlin, about the same price Madison were willing to do me just a head unit for 👿 So now I have a 2 batteries and chargers, which ain’t such a bad thing as the LED head units are very reliable.

Get a sputum sample tested and then the Doc can give you the appropriate IB. They are just making a best guess otherwise which very often is ineffective. That’s assuming it isn’t viral, which it could well be.

Baby oil is good on the stainless it’s light so you can polish the surface up after you’ve cleaned it. Probably mess up the glass though, like the olive oil.

Mount the light on your helmet and put the battery in your pack. Miles better if you ride anything technical or containing corners……..

Just checked the map its the bridleway from smithy to the bridge, the cross to the rightside at Johnny House. Up the valLey to Blackmoss Pot then cross there to the leftside then the last 1km to the foot of the pass great little section and totally doable.

Paul you’ll not be doing much riding up either of them Greenup edge is mainly a carry With bits of riding Grains gill will be rideable for a few hundred metres then a carry all the way to sprinkling, rest is rideable.

What you’ve done is go up the bridleway all the way. The first half is cr@p and sapping. If you take the fp up the right side of the valley half way that’s totally rideable. Then you cross onto the bridleway on The left of the valley directly below Cam crag(kink in river) the bridleway is excellent from there on, a great challenge and totally doable. Think I managed to get to the foot of stake with a couple of dabs.. 😉

They’re sorted the wee issues I’ve had with my Epi over the years ASP. 2 of which were outside the warranty but they put my case to Ellsworth and got me sorted. Great shop.

Stake Pass side of the river anc? That’s where we were.

Yep thats it. You do the first half on the right side under White crag then the second bit on the left under Blea crag(stake side). Cracking 😉

On a Side note there’s a hidden bivvi cave in Cam crag, worth a look it your into that sort of thing.

P.S Max is talking about heading down Langstrath in that quote so his right is my Left up the Langstrath valley… Great trail. 😉

Paul… you was on the wrong bit then!!! Its all rideable to the foot of stakes. Its techy, but mainly rocky, step-up, step down, with the occational grassy bit(which is why its better in summer). Judging by the riding you do well within your capabilities, so I think you must have hit the wrong path.

Mr Cousins is a fan too 😉

    Max – Member
Don’t completely write off the bridleway on the right hand side of the river as you go down Langstrath – it’s a great challenge and well worth a look, just of a different character to the track on the left.

Noooo the trail on the left as you look up the valley is great from half way down, before that you go up the rightside and cut over at the obvious crossing. Love slow techy stuff, its like the fp to watendlath, trying not to dab makes it a interesting challenge. It can be wet up there so its best in the summer mind. Up Stake is a ball-ache I’ll give you that!!

Rossett in the lakes is Harsh.
There was a trail in whistler called ‘No Girly Man’ Not sure if it still exists this was 12 years ago now, but that was a bit mental I couldn’t believe people could actually ride that stuff! One section had a fixed rope to get down if you bottled it which I did! One of the guides up there who was from vancouver Northshore showed us it as is was off the beaten track. Its name still makes me smile when I think about that trip.

Mate got round on his road bike… Dunno why… so he could tell the story I guess… Anyhow he rode it all and didn’t bust it. So you can get round on anything really. 😉

When one thing goes wrong it can cause the sensors to give out faults in other areas that are actually fine. Our b6 passat recently had the common key steering lock fault which makes difficult to start. When it first went in it listed key/steeringlock, injector, fuel pump faults. VW cleared the ECU and asked us to run it till the fault reappeared then to bring it back in. When in went in it just showed the steering lock fault, so they sorted that and its been absolutely fine since.
