It's always amazed me how Suzuki can get it so right in other forms of bike racing, yet get it so wrong with Moto GP

It's because the guy who designed the motoGP bike is the one responsible for the design of the b-king yeurk

And that silly Gladius is a joke 8O

It all went horribly wrong after the 1000 k6

I think the Ducati is nearly there as a bike, certainly seems to be the most powerful; just looks to have a few cornering issues with Stoner and Hayden losing the front end.

Hopefully Rossi will get it cornering like the Yamaha and he should be on a championship winning bike.

If he was really brave, he'd have gone to Suzuki.

The old man struggle on 250cc KMX back in the day as it was too high for him at 5ft 10, I was fine just(6ft2) but will take him round to dealer as you're right its not worth buying 2nd hand when £500 gets him a new one.

Will make a change from his C90!

Your Dad will be fine on the CBF125, my missus rides it fine at 5ft 7 and can touch the floor with no problems.

Although it's not that far off the height of a 500 or 600cc road bike to be honest; meaning that it's not as much as a difference when upgrading to a bigger bike.

It'll do 70mph and you hardly ever need to fill it up 8)

I tend to use it for pottering around on myself, leaving my SP1 at home.

I think the list on them now is £2320. It was slightly less when we got ours, I think it was around £2150 ish.

We paid £1850 from our local dealer, who we've had a few bikes from.

For the money, it certainly looks and feels a quality bike.

We started off looking at used bikes for around £1000, and everyone seemed to have led a hard life or needed money spending on it.

We decided it was worth paying the extra and getting a new bike with warranty, that we knew hadn't been dropped or redlined 24/7.

How tall is your missus roughly Amplebrew? eg does the bike have a low seat height unless she is tall etc.

My old man is after a similar bike/price but he's 5ft10

Karen is 5ft 7, and fit's on it without being cramped. It feels alot more roomy that then sportier 125's.

I've ridden it a few times and apart from the Varadero 125, it's probably one of the bigger bikes you can buy.

My missus rides a Honda CBF125.

Not as sporty as the Aprilia's, CBR's and YZf's….

But we got it for £1850 brand new with 2 years warranty from a Honda dealer.

Really nice bike for the money.

Not either of the 2 saddles you've mentioned, but……

I've found the SDG Bel-Air ti and the Fizik Gobi Kium to be really great.

You'll want the first two, 133 and 168. The shorter lengths you mention are the gaps between drop-out faces.

That's perfect, thanks for the info 8)

    Just out of interest……

What would the 173mm be used for?

I've just had the same dilema after placing an order for a pair of ZTR rims on Chris King hubs.

Rightly or wrongly, I ended up going for the Crest rims because they were slightly wider.

They've not arrived yet though, so can't give any riding experience.

    Another one for Petplan here.

Not the cheapest, but we've never had a problem getting them to payout and they are really easy to deal with when making a claim.

I've got friends who are insured with Tesco and they've unfortunately just realised that they weren't covered as much as they thought they were, when they found out their dog needs an MRI scan.

I've had a few bits off Jen, all of which have been fantastic.

She's really helpful and will pretty much make up anything you want.

    She comes highly recommended.

She's currently doing a variation on a Black Sheep bike badge for when my Stellar arrives.

These are a few she's done for me :D

Not a Shimano centre lock disk by any chance?

    Mine was a centre lock.

Must be a bit of problem as the 1st replacement Madison gave me had the same fault.

    amplebrew

I think it was the rivets that hold the actual disc to the carrier. They kept developing play.

The problem was sorted through madison under warranty with a new centre lock disc.

I had a similar issue on my Rocky Vertex.

I kept getting play in the front, and it turned out that there was a fault on my Shimano disc.

When I put on the front brake, I was able to rock the wheel forwards and backwards around 5mm

I very nearly bought a Focus ST170 last year and was a bit suprised when I test drove it………………

It was gutless and certainly did not feel like it was 170ps :(

All the power was in a tiny rev range and was like a 1.8 Focus until you got the rev's really high.

The Corolla T-sport is a bit the same, nice car that'll never go wrong; but all the power was in a tiny range :(

The Corolla doesn't look too boy racerish and if you can get the compressor version, it gives it a bit more umph :-)

The Seat cupra range or the Golf are brilliant cars although the Civic Type R is the best car for your price range IMHO.

Get a Type R in the gunmetal grey and it doesn't look to boy racerish

    Ritchey 10 degree bars.

Feel like a riser but are completely flat, keeping your front end lower.

I've got some on my Obed at the mo and really like them 8)

They do a few at different price levels.

amplebrew – i have 2x Pace (Ahead)stems 100mm and 120mm in black. Not sure if they are RC45s. Both only take flatbars and cnc machined, ano black. They have like 'bullit sculptures'on each side reminding me of the old gun ports on Meshershmitts. Are you interested?

Hi scruzer, I managed to get a Pace team issue one piece stem and steerer; so I'm sorted on that front now.

Thanks for the offer though 8)

That is a thing of beauty my friend, you are a very lucky man

If its not too much of a cheek, how much money is needed to put together something like that?

    Matt.

It stands me quite a bit to be honest, £1200

But I love it to bits and was led by my heart rather than my head :D

It would pass pretty much a brand new bike it's immaculate.

I could have got one that had been used a lot more for less.

I've had a go on a road bike today that felt spot on.

It worked out to be a 48cm frame with a 55cm eff top tube.

    So I think I'll be a medium 8)

Thanks for the pointers, it's appreciated :-)

    amplebrew
    Full Member

I've had a look at the Wrench Science site as they have a sizing guide and they reckon I should have a total reach of 61cm.

Based on what they reckon, with the 55cm top tube of the medium; I'd have to run a 60mm stem.

I don't know how good that site is though.

I think I'll be best trying a few bikes from different companies and seeing which comes closest to Lynskey's geometry.

Shoot them an email – they are very helpful

They've been great with responding to e-mails.

They reckon a medium would probably fit me, I'm just worried about the top tube length.

Their medium has a 55cm eff top tube which seems to be a lot longer than frames from other brands.

    6' with 32" inside leg here and ride a 56cm Litespeed with a 56.5cm TT and a 100mm stem

That's brilliant, going off your height and bike dimensions, the 55cm top tube on the Lynskey will be too long for me at 5ft 7.

Think I'll be better with the small then.

    amplebrew

I was going to get it direct from Lynskey through one of the promo deals.

The only proper road bike i've been on is my friends 56cm tarmac and that was HUGE!!!!

felt like I was riding my dad's bike :D lol
