I have an Tacx Fortius and happliy spend a couple of hours on it a few times a week.

Riding around Spain or Italy (on DVD) isn’t too bad for when it’s cold and wet outside at home.

It’s also handy if you’ve got commitments at home and can’t get out.

My wife uses it a lot as well, as she doesn’t enjoy going out on the roads in the dark.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen ‘bike’ mag before.

    Is it any good?

I’ve got a fear of wet roots and smooth steep wet rocks and it all comes from me having bad falls on both surfaces.

    It’s a bit of a vicious circle for me……

I see them, tense up, get target fixation and then either fall off or by sheer luck slide uncontrollably over them just about managing to stay on 🙁

I run ESI Grips on all my bikes now and really rate them.

They do a chunky grip and you can get them in loads of colours, including Orange 8)

I get mine off Ebay from a seller called truckerco.

They work out to be £10.73 + 4 dollars postage

Fast postage and I’ve never been stung for any extra vat or duties.

    Stumpjumper FSR’s

I see loads out and about, but after I had a long ride on one; I can’t really see why they’re so popular.

I might have missed the point though 😳

Do you mean the ‘Bike’ motorbike mag?

I got the November issue the other day.

It’s got the new Z750R on the front.

Does anyone remember the Berni Inns?

I used to love their steaks with chips, onion rings, mushrooms and a dish from the salad bar 8)

    The memories are flooding back!!!

Always putting After Eight mints on the plate when they brought the bill 8)

Mango would def be better with black rims and spokes.

It’ll show up the colour more.

I use an Eduro Maxx2 for commuting and it’s great.

Cars actually sit at junctions and wait for you, thinking it’s a motorbike.

I use it on my tourer which has bar end shifters.

A guy I work with bought one for his Specialized road bike and he had a few issues with the gear cables on his sti levers.

The cables basically got in the way of the beam causing shadows on the road and reflecting light back at him.

    A few brand new ones:

    Kona Kula Deluxe

    GT Zaskar Expert

    Rocky Vertex 30

The 90s rang, they want their bikes back.

Well I am still riding around on an RC200 😆

I haven’t quite made it to one of these new modern style hardtails!!! lol

I was a bit suprised when I went on Google earlier and saw that the Flintstones were 50 years old.

I never realised that they’d been going that long.

Wilma and Betty look so young 😉

Tyres can make a huge difference to the feel of a bike in bad weather.

I fitted a pair of Vittoria Randonneur Pro City Tyre’s in a 700 x 35c last autumn when the weather started to get a bit mucky.

Can’t fault them to be honest, they grip really well on slippy roads; but still roll well.

I’ve been that happy with them that I kept them on all summer.

They’ve even got a reflective trim around the sidewall to increase your chances of being seen side on.

I’ve got a Tacx 26″ turbo tyre tyre on our turbo bike.

It gets used everyday and has hardly worn.

We got some Offical Ford ones off a Ford dealer on Ebay for my wifes C-Max really cheap.

They were far cheaper than the local dealer, even taking the postage into account.

From experience of watching lots of CCTV coverage, I think it’s only worth it if it is a top notch system that provides a good clear picture.

Also you need to make sure that the area you are covering is really well lit at night, otherwise you’re just watching shadows.

Although the fact that their is a camera can put folks off along with having security lighting. You could just get some signs and a fake camera.

I’ve cycled for 2 years, 10 miles each way.

I’ve found that it’s been easier to keep my fitness, especially over the winter months and I’ve never at any point wished I had a car.

Best thing I ever did was get mudguards, made a massive difference when riding in the rain.

I’d use Ebay and be prepared to sell worldwide.

From the last few things I’ve sold on Ebay, I’ve got really great prices from buyers in America, Canada and Germany

I think this is because the pound is weak so their money goes further.

I wonder if they do many custom built frames?

I wouldn’t pay for custom when you get a mass produced that looks just as good one for a fraction of the price.

Unless you need the cash, I would keep it.

I was always under the impression that Rock Lobster had sold out and were no longer handbuilt in America. I thought that they were now mass produced in the far east somewhere?

On the RL website, it says:

The thing that I have avoided is delegating any of the building process to others, except for painting. In other words if the frame has my signature on it, you can be sure that I built it.

So are they all handbuilt by Paul?

Not too sure on used values, but here are a few prices on new bikes to give you an idea.

    Kula 2008 £599.99

    Kula 2009 £699.99

Might be worth doing a search on Ebay for completed listings as well.

I fitted a triple to my tourer and paired with an 11-34 cassette. My bike is fitted with an XT chainset and cassette with dura ace shifters.

It’s always better to have an easy option, especially when you’re not adding too much weight.

No point trying to take on the hills with too high a gear when your touring.

Far better to knock it into an easier gear, and enjoy the view 8)

Completely agree with this, about time.

Unless they brought in a rule that non smokers could take a break everytime a smoker went for a drag.

I quite fancy having numerous 5 min breaks in my working day 8)

I’ve got a CK on my Obed and a Hope on my RC200.

I can’t tell any difference in quality to be honest and would probably stick with Hope in future.

Both have been reliable, trouble free and what you could call fit and forget parts.

I have had cause to have to contact Hope for spares, albeit for my brakes; and they were really great to deal with and got a part to me in 24hrs.

I haven’t had to contact CK for anything, but I would imagine that they wouldn’t be as easy to deal with as Hope; if only for the distance and time difference.

If you don’t need to use your bike and it’s parked off the road and somewhere secure, I suppose it can’t do any harm to wait a few days.

You get 3 years before you loose your NCB.

I recorded that the other night. Is it any good?

I thought it was alright, but I think it got rubbish reviews.
