If you have a look here[/url], they are a really friendly bunch and a wealth of knowledge on the E2E 8)

I’ve done it twice now, once on a RM vertex carbon hardtail and also on my fully rigid Pace RC200 with rim brakes.

Both bike were more than capable, although the hardtail was more suited to the course.

Plenty of folks use full suspension, although IMHO a hardtail is all you need.

There are food stations along the course.

I just usually take a few small snacks like cereal bars and a camelbak.

With the run up to Christmas, a lot of Police Forces dedicate Officers to stay with cash in transit’s as the amount of robberies or attempts increases.

It’s pretty normal and I’d imagine that most forces do it this time of year.

I know first hand that Lanc’s does.

Right, just been down the bikeshed and had a look, I’m using an 11t lockring, although it looks a bit small up against the spacers, been using it for just over a year with no problems. It looks like a 12t would be neater though, may have to get one now – bugger, wish I hadn’t looked

I’ve just done some digging on the net and most folks are recommending a 12t with a singlespeed spacer kit.

I also found this on ebay which reckons that a 12t is the ideal size.

I’m ordering a 18t Surly cassette sprocket and the 2 Hope QR spacers.

So is it just the 12t lockring I need now?

The trials hub has a way of letting you know when you are slacking

    Oh dear!!!!! 😳

You need to remove the two end caps from the hub, they just pull out, and buy one of these

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18771

    and one of these

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18770

push a QR skewer through and its done, no need to change the axle as its hollow, I did this about a year ago. Hope are super helpfull if you do contact them, I just added a Surly SS sproket from Charlie the bikemonger, the Hope SS hub comes with spacers to get the chainline right.

Edit : Forgot to say you need the Pro 2 QR spacers not the 10mm/SS/Trials, you already have those.

That’s great, sounds really easy to do; I’ll get them ordered 😀

I right in thinking that a Surly cassette fit 18t sprocket and a 12t shimano compatable lockring will work on the Hope trials rear hub? 😕

I’m getting myself a bit confused on whether I need 11t and 12t lockring 😳

    amplebrew

I was thinking of using a standard Hope hub, but I was told that the trials hub was a bit tougher and better for using as on a singlespeed.

I think when they said tougher they were mainly talking about the cassette body being steel.

I waa told that the pickup was better as well.

I had an ST3 3 door in performance blue and loved it.

I bought it when I tried to give up the motorbikes after seeing a bad bike crash.

I owned it for around 12 months and thought it was a fantastic car.

    The best bits:

    1) Good value for money either used or pre-reg
    2) Very comfy for a sporty hatch, the leather seats were
    fantastic.
    3) Cheap to maintain and service
    4) The engine sounds fantastic
    5) Easy to drive at low speed
    6) Good torquey engine that doesn’t need to be rev’d
    7) The build quality on mine was really good.

    The bit’s I didn’t like:

    1) The fuel economy was really bad, only averaging mid 20’s and even at
one point dropping down to 8mpg around the mountain course on the
    Isle Of Man
    2) Compared to other hot hatches, it feels heavier epecially at the front
    3) This feeling of weight isnlt helped by the fact that the suspension is
    quite soft.
    4) Possibly a bit of a ‘chavvy’ image.

In the end I sold it and bought a new Fireblade as it could never replace the bike.

If I was in the market for a car, I would definately consider one along with a Golf GTI which IMHO has a better image and I’ve heard is better on the fuel, although I’ve no personal experience of the Golf to be honest.

That 5 pot noise though is fantastic and the burble and pop on the overrun is lovely 8)

    Oh and a chip/remap makes a massive difference 8)

Possibly the best advertisment for them is that we bought some to use as our unmarked traffic cars and despite being used everyday, they have been faultless. Everyone at work that drives them raves on about them and some folks have bought their own after being in the job cars.

I love my Garmin 705, but that might be a bit more info than you really want.

I had a cateye cordless prior to that which was great, apart from the sensor on the fork would very very occasionally move; meaning that it wouldn’t read. Not a major thing though as it would only take a second to slide back.

You’ve got a lot of sympathy from me as I’ve been suffering with ‘man flu’ for the last 4 days.

I did nothing but veg out yesterday, trying to take it easy and I felt really rough 🙁

I went out today and did (an easy) 3 hours on the road bike and feel loads better 🙂

Ofcourse the Beechams capsules are probably helping as well 😉

I really suffer after a long ride if I’ve not eaten and drunk enough during it.

I have to force myself to eat as for some reason even when on a ride of 4hrs + I never feel hungry.

I tend to eat jelly babies or similar.

I always eat porridge and jammy toast before a ride.

I wonder if the folks doing idiotic things on bikes or in cars are just idiots in general and maybe their riding or driving just gives them more opportunities to show off their ‘talents.’ 😕

If everything fits correctly then you only need them under the head of the bolts(not completely necessary, but good practice). They’re usually supplied for spacing out if needed.

Cool, the caliper and mount bolts already have washers on them 8)

I’ll put the other washers in my spares box.

    Thanks for that 🙂

Our 2 dogs stay in the hallway when we’re out.

I couldn’t leave them outside as I’d worry that someone was either stealing them or feeding them something dodgy over the fence 🙁

I have a choice of either a 10 mile ride or a 6 mile ride to work.

I work 6 days in then 4 days off.

On the 6 days I work, I have to do 2 early shifts, 2 late shifts and 2 night shifts.

I ride the 10 mile route on most days, I just ride the 6 mile route when I finish my 2 late shifts which end at 2am.

This is mainly because the 10 mile involves riding a 2 mile stretch of blind corners on fast rural unlit roads and I worry that drivers will come flying around a corner not expecting to meet a bicycle on the road at 2am in the morning 😯

Mine was a 1991 Saracen Sahara which unfortunately got stolen after 6 months 🙁

I then got a Marin Bear Valley se, which was probably the bike which really got me into mountain biking.

The Marin was the bike that got me to start racing and going out further afield with the Liverpool Mountain Bike Club rather than just riding around my local area.

    Yes, definately.

Attempting is still a crime and it’s better to report it so that the cops know what’s going on.

They should still send Scenes Of Crime around.

If you think someone has been in, leave everything as you found it until you’ve called them.
