I loved mine, it was just a bit too full on for me.

It was a really great bike, I just had a few more aches and pains after a long ride!!!

    Hi,

Thanks for all the info, it’s really appreciated.

After having a sleep on it last night, I have decided to sell my Campag and go for Shimano to open up my hub options.

    Thanks again,

    Andy

16″ frame which from memory was a ’98’ with modern components.

Ran it with 9 spd XT, Magura HS33 brakes, Thomson post / stem and Hope / Mavic wheels.

It had a 100mm Thomson stem on it in the pic.

    You can buy it here.

    That’s great.

Just need to try and find an appropriate rear hub now that’ll run a Campag cassette.

A quick search would suggest that DT 240’s might be the answer.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Yes, 84 degree is the same as -6 degree.

I use this stem chart when looking at messing around with stems and spacers etc.

I love the frame finish on these new Kona’s and think the more traditional decals look great.

I got a Specialized Crux built up for my other half who was in a similar situation. She wanted a road bike, but wasn’t confident on a standard road bike with drops.

We ended up with a Specialized Crux with a 90mm Specialized stem which is adjustable, a pair of Specialized women’s expert drop bars and flat pedals.

She is currently running the stem at + 16 degrees and is more than happy on the drops now.

The frame just so happens to be bright pink which she loves as well.

For reference my other half is 5ft7 and is on a 52cm Crux.

Haven’t got the faintest idea how much it weighs, but I love the the the simplicity of a rigid bike.

*Excuse the very short front brake hose. Pics were taken when first built up.

I would agree on what br said regarding the heated grips.

I’ve not long got a 12GSA with them fitted and they make a HUGE difference when it’s chilly. I can ride in my summer gloves no matter what the weather is doing.

I can’t see a £2k SV losing much more money now where as a £5k scooter will still have quite a bit of depreciating to do. You could probably commute for the next 12 months on the SV and it would still be worth around £1.5k.

Cover it in ACF50 and just give it quick a hose down with cold water when you get home.

I’d just use the SV and save yourself £3k and I’d still be wearing the same gear whether I was on the SV or the T-Max.

I’m not sure a 500cc scooter would save you that much money.

I’ve no personal experience of either bike, but according to MCN the SV should do around 41mpg and the T-Max 45mpg; so not a huge difference.

I bought a 100cc Honda Lead a few years ago to save using my R1 over the winter and it was great. I however only had a 15 mile each way commute on A and B roads and the scooter only cost £1200 brand new; so it was worth it. The Honda Lead did around 140mpg!!!

Pretty much the same on the Isle Of Man

Can’t believe the difference in the weather from yesterday.

Many thanks all for your comments.
Very pleased with your answers to be honest.
The dog has come from a family environment with 2/3 children.
The re-homing centre say that he is a family dog and ideally want to re-home into a similar environment relatively quickly. Saying that they firstly want to visit us without the dog to establish suitability, which I think is pleasing – they seem to be doing it the right way.

    Sounds great.

They’re lovely fun dogs who are an absolute pleasure to own.

If the re-homing centre give you the all clear, then I don’t think you’ll regret it.

I’ve seen a pair of the standard Royce disc hubs and they looked lovely. They were polished silver but had a ‘pearl’ like finish to them.

The ‘Terrier’ title catch’s a few out, but as you’ve said Danny; any dog not used to children can be an issue.

TT’s generally are very laid back and well natured dogs that adapt very quickly to new surroundings so I wouldn’t see a problem with the dog getting used to a new family environment.

They can initially be shy around strangers, but they don’t take long to build up a bond.

Is it possible for the dog to stay with you for a few days to try out?

A Tibetan Terrier is not a ‘Terrier breed’ and was given that title due to it’s size. They do not have the usual Terrier characteristics and are really gentle and affectionate dogs, ideal for families.

We’ve had Oli now for 6 years and he’s a fantastic dog.

He’s very affectionate and wants to be cuddled or perched on your knee pretty much all the time. We haven’t got children, but our friends do and there is never a problem. They are certainly not a snappy or aggressive dog.

He’s always up for going out, is really playful and will happily go for long walks and days out without getting to tired. Oli hasn’t quite got the endurance of our Springer, but he’s not far off.

He’s definitely a much more relaxed character than our 9 year old Springer and quite often goes outside and sits in the garden at night and gazes up at the stars; it’s really funny to watch.

They can be very stubborn dogs though and it can be a battle of wills to get him to do something he’s not keen on. They also don’t like being left alone and some suffer from separation anxiety. We’ve been ok because he is always in the company of our Springer and between my wife, my parents and myself he is never left for longer than an hour anyway. Oli however does not cope very well with being separated from our Springer and will cry like a baby. So if our Springer needs to go to the vets, we have to take Oli as well.

They can have a habit of barking when excited or to warn if they think something is wrong. They were originally alarm dogs to warn of danger, so it’s quite a common character trait.

They also have a double coat which can mat easily. We keep Oli’s coat quite short and give him a quick brush him every day; it’s certainly no chore.

We wouldn’t hesitate to get another TT as Oli’s a complete pleasure to own and has a really lovable character.

Poor Nicholas Cage, he always plans to go on the straight and narrow after a life of crime; only to then have to get back into the ‘business’ to help out a family member.

For it to happen once is really bad luck, but twice!!!!

Maybe he’s just not meant to be a law abiding citizen :D

    We’re with Petplan as well.

Definitely not the cheapest insurer, but they’ve always paid out for us; unlike our friends Tesco policy.

Don’t forget that insurance is always dear until you need it.

No, I’ve bought the adventure model which is still using the tried and tested air-cooled engine. It looks great though in the 90th anniversary colours.
Very nice. I used to have an early one – quite miss it, was a great bike:

    That’s a lovely bike 8)

After 16 years of sports bike, it’s definitely a bit of a change for me. I rode loads of bikes and after only a few miles; I was completely sold on the GS.

We use either Seraquin or Synoquin on our 9 year old Springer and it’s like having a puppy again. They’ve made a massive difference to his joints.

Ours are prescribed through the vet and the pet insurance pays for them.

ample – new liquid cooled GS 12 ?

After spending years in the motor trade, I know never to buy the first of a brand new model.

The plan is to run this GS for a few years and then change to the water cooled version once they’ve got it sorted.

Not sure when the 1050 is due an update… The 675 street doesn’t get ohlins or brembo but is 5k cheaper….and less torquey…..

The 2013 Street Triple R I sat on in the showroom felt only around the same size as a mountain bike and I would imagine would be a lot of fun.

As mentioned by others, the general consensus in the motorbike press is that the standard Speed Triple is a better buy the the ‘R’ version and that the Ohlins needs a bit of tinkering to get right.

I had a test ride of a Triumph Tiger 800 a couple of weeks ago when i was looking for a new bike and thought the engine was lovely.

The build quality on the 12mth old one I rode seemed good and the bike was nice and light to ride.

I was really impressed by the engine though, gave the bike a loads of character.

I reckon the Street Triple R might be a better buy and the new one is getting great reviews.

The 675 engine is fantastic and surely the Speed Triple must be due for a major update soon.

so what do you think its worth ?

1 owner fsh great condition 70000 on the clock

I’d imagine it’s hard to put an exact value on; depending on how much you’ve got the hots for it.

A Mazda 323 GTI is not the first hot hatch of that era that springs to mind; so I’d expect it to be cheap.

    I remember the 323 4×4 turbo.

There used to a white one near to where I lived years ago.

I seem to recall it being a bit of a ‘Q’ car.
