I’d put an advert here if you haven’t already done so.

It should be pretty easy to sell.

Lizard Skin DSP tape is fantastic, but maybe not in keeping with the bikes character.

Having said that it can bought in plain black, so won’t be obvious.

I’d go for a chrome bar with the black tape.

Definitely black.

I reckon the Animal Welfare Act should cover it.

It covers protected animals which are commonly domesticated in the British Islands, under the control of a person on a permanent or temporary basis and it’s not living in a wild state.

There is an offence of administrating a poison…..

Administration of poisons etc.

(1)A person commits an offence if, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, he—

(a)administers any poisonous or injurious drug or substance to a protected animal, knowing it to be poisonous or injurious, or

(b)causes any poisonous or injurious drug or substance to be taken by a protected animal, knowing it to be poisonous or injurious.

Usually a quiet word is not the best course of action for someone driving with no licence, insurance, tax or MOT.

He’ll know full well that he needs them and he’s breaking the law.

There is also a very good chance that the car is not road legal, so he could be committing numerous other offences as well.

Just report online at Crime Stoppers and be done with it.

I also wouldn’t be too worried about him getting into trouble, as he obviously isn’t worried about the rest of the population out and about minding their own business.

You just need to call Crime Stoppers and all the local bobbies will be given the information.

They will then just so happen to bump into him whilst he’s driving.

You won’t need to get involved and all the evidence required will be provided by the Police who have witnessed the driving offences take place.

I use the copter tape from Biketart on the frame and also wrap self-amalgamating from Screwfix on the chainstays.

Works a treat.

Maxxis Ikon tyres are pretty good, just make sure you get the EXO protection version.

They do a 26 x 2.2.

I fell 20 feet onto rocks down a ravine in Morocco on my carbon Tallboy. It wasn’t even scratched. I, on the other hand, was fecked.

The new bike looks really fantastic.

My last few bikes have been spec’d by myself.

I used to buy off the peg, but then would always end up changing things on it.

It’s also really fun reading up on different components and getting ‘your’ spec absolutely perfect.

I’ve used KMC 8speed, 1/8 and 3/32 chains recently, all went baggy after a couple of rides, tensioned them up again and they’ve been fine.

I’ve found this as well.

They settle down after the initial stretch.

I’ve use the KMC Z610HX with no issues.

The 610 is 3/32” and the 1/8” version is the 510.

One would look really great on the right bike and it’s even possible to remove the cork top and drink from it; even in this day and age

I know it’s going to look out of place on a modern bike, but it could be the finishing touch to a classic bike.

I completely understand why folks want and buy nice new cars, its all depends what you’re into.

Some people get a lot of enjoyment from owning a nice car and I don’t necessarily think they are trying to fill some kind of void.

Plenty of folks have a car as their hobby and get loads of fun from just owning and driving it; depreciation doesn’t even enter into the equation.

If you really had the hots for a particular car and can afford it; then does it really matter what the depreciation is?

There is no point making do with something else and being too sensible about it. A car is probably the next dearest thing people buy after a house, so you need to love what you’re spending all that money on.

I no longer run a car as I only work 7 miles away from work and I can get to the shops and trails without needing a car.

No experience of either bike, so probably not much help.

However if both bikes are around the same spec level, then I would go for the Cube purely so I could buy from a shop and get the support and backup etc.

Yeah, lovely bike to build.

This is one that was officially endorsed by Sigue Sigue Sputnik.

Are you still calling it “love missile f29”?

Yeah, loved the note on the box :D

Going to put the Knard on over the weekend.

That is lovely – like the silver kit – not so keen on the tape – copter tape would be more subtle – are you a geek rubber?

I’ve got some copter tape coming to me, so I might try that instead once it arrives. That self-amalgamating tape is great stuff though and really protects the frame.

mmm green is very, very nice

The green looks lovely and is even nicer in the flesh.

I’ll always wave to say thanks to a driver when I’m on my motorbike.

Similary I’ll always give a car driver a wave when I’m on my push bike if they’ve hung back to give me loads of space before overtaking.

It’s nice to show your appreciation and quite often the driver or passenger will wave back.

Thanks for all the great comments, Charlie did an amazing job on the build.

I was a bit undecided on silver or black kit, but finally decided on the silver. I’m glad I did and I’m over the moon with the way it turned out.

I’d wanted a Jones for ages and saw a green one in the flesh earlier this year. I thought the colour was fantastic and seeing it first hand really sold it to me. I think it’s called ‘Grass Green’ RAL6010.

Not too sure what the bike weighs but it’s definitely lighter than I thought it was going to be. I haven’t even got a set of scales to weigh it, although I don’t think I’ve ever weighed a bike.

I’ve gotta get a go on a Jones. That frame looks fun! How tall are you, assuming that’s set-up for you?

I’m just over 5ft 7 in height.

I usually ride with a BB axle to top of seat measurement of 29″ (it’s actually 30″ in the pics) so I’ve now lowered it a bit.

I’m running it with a 100mm / 0 degree stem and it feels bob on; although I’ve not got loads of miles on it yet.

That looks really nice.

Is it heresy to put normal bars on a Jones?

It’s got the Jones bars fitted to it with the longer ESI’s.

Whats with the tape on the rear stays?
It’s a SS and the non drive is safe isn’t it????
That Green looks better in the flesh IMO.

The tape is just the self amalgamating tape that I always put on my bikes. Just to stop the usual chainstay marks.

It’s got the singlespeed dropout fitted with the Pauls bolt on axle.

welcome to the jones clan…it’s probably one of the most common bikes around now. Get a knard on that front pronto!!

Funnily enough, I’ve got a Knard in the back room :D

Is there much of a price difference between a Nemo and a Berlingo?

Another one for Petplan here.

We’ve been with them for 9 years and have had to make quite a few expensive claims between our 2 dogs over the years.

They’ve been great to deal with though and we haven’t been refused a claim yet.

They’ve always been quick to pay and stress free to deal with.

I don’t think Petplan are the cheapest, but I’m pretty such they’re widely regarded as being the best.

I personally wouldn’t risk not having insurance as Vets bills can be huge.
