Yeah the Europeans run them the other way round too, so when we were testing at Paul Ricard circuit in france Ralph Schumacher decided he was going to cycle back down the mountain to his hotel after testing. Unfortunately me and the hydraulics technician had had a go on the BMW designed bike and decided the brakes were wrong so did the old switcheroo during the day. Ralph reported a rather close scrape while descending as the **** brakes were the wrong way round 😉

I don’t agree a helicoil will be a permanent fix if done properly, much stronger than the original thread, in fact we helicoil magnesium for that reason so as not to strip the threads. Op where are you based? I could look at it for you if you liked

The Thames path out of Pangbourne was either built by an MTBer or the best bit of accidental man made singletrack ever

Even more so now the Hartslock steps have been removed, it’s awesome now, but I’m a little nervous there will be a doddery walker at the bottom!!

They close the gates at 4:30 and I’d imagine would get pretty pissed if you went and rode out of hours as there has been years of wrangling to keep the place open .

Worth a trip though mate, the red route is great fun, the other trails are pretty steep and tech and very slippery when wet. The xc loop though short is tough, again mainly due to the steepness of the hill.
