Carried a big victorian one down the stairs (thankfully first floor flat)-possibly bigger than yours..
Thought the two or three reclamation yards I know in Glasgow would gladly have it but they didnt seem interested! Got £30 for it at a scrappy… i loved that bath as well. Spent many happy Saturday afternoons lying in it with a coupla beers listening to tunes and footy. Part of my going out routine it was!

Tell that to my mate who worked as a 2nd engineer on the boats.. was fed up hanging around Aberdeen harbour doing piece work so buggered off to Oz.
Deffo not better off-no wage rise for last few years (since current govt. came in coincidently), 1.5% payrise this year, increased pension contributions (for less payout) and large increases to food, bills etc.
Never been big spenders but having to cut back/tighten belts a fair bit. I’m looking at moving to nightshift to boost our income.
Folk on benefits are getting a better increase than me this year.. excellent news!

The “owl” one is usually referred to as a solarstorm x2. They’re decent wee lights but the batteries and chargers quality can be questionable. The same goes for thr head unit itself.. still a great wee light for the price, as long as you get a decent one.
I had one of them but it conked out after 2 rides..
Look for yinding lights, similar output but seem to be much better made. Bit more floody than the x2s and there’s still a question over the battery and charger but for a similar price it seems a better bet.

Loved machete, enjoyed Hobo with a shotgun for its throwback silliness.
Reminds me a bit of films like dawn till dusk and yon Antonio Banderas films about yhe guitar playing mercanary- silly but still enjoyable..

Saw the advert.. I have to confess when younger I shimmied up a tall lampost then hung from my knees to show off to a lass but being older and a lot less dumb I just think.. why??

Had a pleasant 20 minutes reading through this-just want to say fair play to Northwind (and others) for hanging on in on this thread and giving calm and structured responses to some of the posts on here.
    Good effort folks.

Our SORT team has an argocat. Last time I heard it was used was to help a guy that waded into a water hazard to get a ball out and got stuck in the mud on a local golf course. Two control vehicles, a landie, and the lorry that carries the cat sent as well as the ambulance sent. Apparently it saved the crew who helped him out from walking back to the car park.

Can we assume that you can’t afford the mortgage on your own? Get a good lawyer.
Cant see how he can legally kick you out if you’re on the mortgage as you seem to suggest you are.

I suppose it is just a distraction from how fekked the Nhs really is. Rather than focussing on a single aspect a review of the whole thing would be better.. mind you, I suppose thats what DC did last year and things dont seem to be getting better!

My own experience- I’ve attended houses where families have put elderly relatives on planes from far flung countries to bring them to the UK then as soon as they’re here (bags still on the doorstep) they call 999 for usto deal with the chest pains they’ve been having for the last 7 days. Ive asked why to their faces and the answer is usually that the hospitals in the UK are much better than in their country.. aye, and cheaper too!
Im not saying the above happens every day but its occurred often enough that I dont get pissed off about it any more..

Theyre a gift really. In a similar position to you- so lucky to have my wee family. Most important thing in my life and my reason for being. (Getting a bit dusty in here thinking about this). See so much hurting and pain (and bullshit) everyday at work but I know how lucky I am to be able to come home to them afterwards.
Sounds like you’ve been having a shitty time of it lately but keep focussing on the good stuff and you’ll get through it. Away to get a hanky now.

Off/on road its the same. Might pump up the tyres or put a rear guard on if the rains biblical but apart from that, thats the only changes..

You just going for a big prefab shed on a paving slab base then? If youre reasonably handy you could prob build something just as good yet more secure for similar money?
Not an expert but that seems to be the case from the multitude of prev threads on here..

Was just going to mention Summerlee. Great wee museum- big machinery indoors, lots of history, foundations of an old foundry that gives you an idea of the scale of it, short tram rides, a small pit that you can go down into, a section of the old coatbridge canal still there to walk along.. Aye, ive been a few times with my boy. He loves it and I still do too..
Transport museum is good as well and also has Hms Glenlee beside it which is good for a good few hours if its a rotten day.

Jumbo hightop transit crew van and convert yourself.. look for a good used one on ebay for around £5-6k. It should come with diesel heater, ac inverter and a wee hot water dispenser and possibly a microwave!

I love my 2010 575. Great do it all bike, goes up well, loves the downs, reasonably light for nigh on six inches of travel too. I’ve got 150 revs on mine but the options always there to stick 160s on if I want something burlier! Great bike, was a perfect replacement for my old Enduro..

Bought my first flat.. wiring condemned as it still had canvas insulation, bakelite switches and cast iron fuseboxes, couldnt open the kitchen door all the way because of the coal bunker behind it, and lathe and plaster ceilings would collapse randomly…did the rewire myself but got a qualified spark in to fit the consumer unit and tie in the mains.. patched and plastered various walls and ceilings, fitted a kitchen from scratch, removed fireplaces and generally rennovated the place. Was reasonably handy and learned a lot of stuff as I went along. Took me a year all in, living and working in there. Was pretty soul destroying at the time and looking back I would maybe just pay someone qualified to do it all next time. I’m proud of what I did but was very lucky having friends who were just as keen as I was..

Mine packed up after 3 rides.. was great up to that point. Battery wasnt too bad. Light itself was good. First the left hand Led switched off, then the right one the next day..
Sent it back for repair/replacement so we’ll see what they come up with I guess..

You’ll need to see which one you prefer. The twin xmls seem to be done thing these days and are very popular- with good reason! The other one will probably be brighter but the the beam or battery might be rank so test them and decide!

I wouldnt pay £36 for that knowing now how cheap it was. Looks ok as a cheap helmet light though?
