I usually get to a point like that with my mrs where I just act completely normal and at some point she’ll lose the plot, shout for a bit then calm down after a bit.
Think it helps in her case, although I appreciate that just acting normal when she’s in a mood might cause her to blow her top..
Not very helpful I guess but at least you know it happens to all of us!

Slight hijack here, sorry, brianh’s any idea how much yours weighs?
I have revs on mine with a Thomson seatpost and is about 28.5Ibs.. Interested in the difference (putting aside slight weight gain caused by reverb obv..)

Had my old style 575 (2009/2010) for a coupla years and had no probs with my carbon back end at all..
Landed some nice jumps and drops with it too and never had any major probs apart from needing to torque up the rear qr a bit more than I would normally..
Edit- I have the one before brianh’s above.. If I had a choice I’d rather have bolt thru back end and tapered headtube tho!

Have heard that they’ve got a fair bit of go to them when unladen..
Prob cos in the past they were always daimlers, mercs etc with big engines.
I’ve also heard that the drivers do tend to rag them a bit when they’re not working!
Strip out all the fittings, guessing there would be a fair but of room for lying down etc but unsure about all the glass and stuff for insulation/security?

For a sec there I thought that might have been an Aseries engine..oh well!
    Cool vid!

Turned up on the day to find my wife had done the table names after all the hospitals I’d been in. Think there was 8 or so. Raigmore, Vale of Leven, GRI, ERI, Yorkhill etc…
“Dont worry about the names, I’ll sort that out..” har har.
Suppose it was good for the best man’s speech!

I honestly had no idea what was happening in most of the first vid..
The guy jumps, the bike is a blur of wheels underneath the rider, and then they land it.
Bonkers stuff but kinda agree with above poster that it’s a bit too mental!

Hmm.. Not sure bout diesels (I’m guessing) but would occasionally get similar with old minIs after a hard run/hot engine.. Did you check the oil level? Get someone to look at the exhaust gasseswhile revving it hard?

If you stuck a few RedBull logos somewhere in that they wouldn’t look out of place.
I agree a bit too much flashing and towards the end I was thinking “show me the **** gap!!” but apart from that very good!

Strange that call me Dave launches a media campaign/indignant rant naming well known personalities round about the same time even more questions are being asked about the co-chair of the Tory party.. Coincidence?? Surely not!
Didn’t something similar happen round about the time someone in the tory party resigned after some sort of cash for access scandal a wee while ago??
Also thought it strange that he’s ranting about media types like JC he had no comment when it was put to him that his good chum and Tory campaigner Gary Barlow was doing exactly the same thing as JC..
Hmm..Hopefully this will backfire on him big-time, although I for one am not againt closing tax loopholes.

Cheers folks. Bad times. On holiday at the mo but have my wife and son so not so bad I guess.
Really popular guy.. Just absolutely gutted. So much stuff I was looking toward to doing with him that’ll never happen now.

Love my 575 over the last couple of years- a tapered headtube and rear axle would be great but never noticed not having them..
Can be built up xc/trail light or stick a set of burlier forks and tyres on it for light dh duties..
Would like a 66 but it’s waaaay out of my price range at the mo so will be looking just at forks and tyres in the future!

Ashton and parsons ftw.. Teetha after that..
Benzocaine sounds a bit too hardcore for my liking??
In fact I seem to remember a dentist friend gave me something similar a few years back… Hmm.

Kirky has just built a brand new secondary school. All very nice and modern.
Lenzie academy has got a good rep. Other than that…?
You were pretty down on Milngavie (winner of Britain in bloom, best presented station, start of WHW etc) and Kirky (revamped canal paths, huge big skatepark, nice new road so you can get out quick) though TJ! I accept there’s new commuting estates springing up (and all over) but the majority of the residences aren’t like that! Hell it’s prob worse down here in Stepps- Cardowan anyone??
Edit- having grown up in Springboig in the East end in the 70/80s (a sort of no mans land separating Shettleston, Cranhill and Barlanark) I would agree with Polys comment that the areas you seem to dislike are mostly (and always have been) pretty aspirational- I myself sometimes feel posh living in Millerston/Stepps for petes sake!!

Just to absolutely certain.. Do not, under any circumstances get Milton of Camsie and “The Milton” mixed up.
    Similar names, but very different!

Oh aye, I hate these new estates that are springing up all over the place usually where there used to be marshland- no of course there’s never been a flood here but that’s nothing to do with the fact the estates only 2 years old and keeping our fingers crossed has seemed to work so far!
Most of the places you mentioned don’t strike me as being (much) like that!
Hmm-tries to remember if Leith (walk?) is still rough as or has been properly yuppie-fied in the 14 years since I last drank down that way..

Jeezo- went back and read TJs post- that is fairly negative!
What part of Edinburgh is it that you live in now then mate?

    althepal
    Full Member

Live in Stepps, just between Kirky and the east end of Glasgow..
Part of N Lanarkshire though so council tax and bin collections are much better!
(jeezo, if the me from ten years ago heard me say that he’d laugh!!
Anyways, Kirky itself is ok- nice parts and crappy parts- seems to suffer from weetown mentality of if you grandparents didn’t get one of the first council houses there in the 60s you’re an incomer-syndrome..
Berasden, lenzie etc are nice but I prob couldn’t afford to live there!
The area in general is good for its proximity to Glasgow but not actually being in Glasgow.. Some nice new roads built so if you drive you can be in the city centre in 15/20 min (outwith rush hour obv) but Lennox Forrest is only a short cycle away.. Think they’re trying to get some proper trails built rather than the (cough) unofficial stuff thats there..

Fiestas are good, just a smaller version of the escort really (oldish ones that it is)..
The cvh engine is the same, a lot of the running gear is similar.. Escort obviously bigger..
I had an old “m” reg 1.3 one for years, decent sized boot, enough space for a coupla bikes and gear with the seat down and fairly cheap to run, tax and insure.. Not got a clue about mpg as I was young and didn’t really bother bout stuff like that in my 20s!

Good on you. I was adopted as a baby and am so grateful for the amazing family I have.
Hope you clear the final hurdles soon and all goes to plan for you.
Hope you and your wean/s have as rich and happy lives with you as Ive had with mine.
Hard going but I have a lot of respect and admiration for you for doing what you’re doing, whatever your motivation/reasons for doing so.
Good on you. Feel its worth saying again!
