V8 and Drac. We don’t get any annual payment or disturbance payments at all now.
Tomintoul brought things to a head. The service and the unions came up with a few deals involving annual payments and disturbance payments but every time the staff voted against- personally I though the amounts being talked about were pretty generous but the staff knocked them all back, poss thinking they’d have to go higher still…
Eventually the Scottish Gov had to be seen to be doing something about it and had set us a time limit to sort it out but we couldn’t, so they stepped in and as a compromise told us our weekly hours would include our breaks and be cut down to 37.5 hours.. The unions accepted this on our behalf without consultation with the staff, leading to a lot of folk leaving to join other unions.
The cut in hours is the only thing we really got out of it, but then, we’re being kept late most days now so not much of a difference!

Up here in Scotchland we used to do a 40 hour week of which 2.5 hours was unpaid.
This meant that the 2.5 hours was our own and unless we took a small additional annual payment of £250 so they could intterupt our breaks to attend jobs.
Thing is, most of us remember a time when you wouldnt get any break in a shift (albeit probably an eight hour one give or take an hour or two of unpaid OT) so the majority of folk didnt take the payment and couldnt be belled out during breaks.
The sad incident in Tomintoul (remember- the one where a techy was hung out to dry and the service only apologised after the desceased pt’s family asked for the call transcript to be released that showed he wasnt asked to attend the call 3 blocks away) prompted the Scottish Govt to step in and reduce our working week to 37.5 hours inclusive of breaks.
Sounds great, means we’re getting paid for our breaks- but the reality is that we have our breaks constantly interrupted or dont get them at all- especially on the nightshift when tehres a lot less resources.. we’re not supposed to carry any food in the wagons never mind anything hot..
And now apparently we’re talking about cutting shifts because an outside firm are optima-tistically telling us that thanks to their amazing algorythm that can predict when and where a 999 will come in we wont need as many staff- or as we call it, cost cutting.
    Sheesh.
(Sorry to go on- those in the job will know how frustrating things are at the mo).
Edit- I really could go on and on, and on. But whats the point?

A certain business who have HQ at a G1 postcode owns tons of pubs and restaurants in Glasgow where the staff aren’t even aware they work for said company.. Just because folk wouldn’t go there if they knew who owned them.
Can understand why Tesco wouldn’t want folk to know about this as well..

If you’re being reviewed, I reckon they have to give you a chance to improve..
Be ready to answer the criticisms in as diplomatic and positive way as possible.
If they are asking you to improve try and get them on side with working towards improvements- if it doesn’t happen it’s not just your fault!
Get them to note everything down in writing at the meeting for future reference..
Hang on as long as you can, if need be and if you’re sacked at least you’ll get some help till you find something else.
    Try and stay positive..

Great cars, had six over the course of my late teens to mid-twenties.
Highlight was a bucket seated 1293 that we (cough) reshelled(cough) into a 1972 body. Another highlight was going downhill, the front end suddenly dropping and a front wheel undertaking me!
Have promised myself another one as my midlife crisis car in the next coupla years.
Wouldn’t say I’m a mechanic but learned a lot about cars and engines from having them, a) cos they broke down a lot, and b) cos most of the time I couldn’t afford to pay someone to fix them! Hence-

As per qwerty really. You can’t do your job, you’re covered by a sick-line (or will be) and if your dept is so upset by you being off they could always give you a non-frontline job for a bit.
Get well soon and enjoy your time off!
Ps- not surprised you’re only in the job 2 months- most folk in the Nhs would be making the most of it! (I mean, er, ensuring that they’re fully fit and able to return to duties!)

What Drac said- first one off in 4 years, waking up and not having to work, watching the smile on my three year olds face as he unwrapped his presents, drinking till early with my in laws.. Oh aye, seeing my own mum, family and nephews on Christmas Day was great too!
Haven’t been on the bike at all but that’s not unusual since son no 2 arrived a few months ago.
Back at work tonight but still smiling thinking about the last few days..

Prob best that you touch wood, not bare metal!
Moved into my first flat I bought… Everything needed done- 2 fuseboxes were cast iron, wiring still had canvas insulation round it, took the coal bunker out the kitchen, replastering and found most of the pipes for gas lighting were still in place, led water pipes everywhere, original sash windows with rippled glass (I liked those- sorted as best as we could).. Had a single kitchen unit with a sink in it and an antique gas cooker- that was the kitchen!
    The list goes on.
Took me a year of living and sleeping in one room cos the floors were up and the ceilings were down whilst I did most of the repairs myself..

I honestly wouldn’t know about the rotors but the brakes are great.
I had mine set up by the shop I bought them from. They recommended it to prevent any probs. was also foc.
