The idea of student nurses having to do health care assistant work prior to becoming student nurse amuses me.
My experience is slightly out of date but I spent most of my first year on placements working as a healthcare assistant!
Oh aye, as well as the two other jobs I had working as a care assistant in various nursing homes.
Ex student nurse- 1998 to 2000.

Its a horrible thing- Deal with this at work and a good mate did the same last year.
Can only imagine how bad things seem in their heads that that that’s the only solution they can see.
But you’ll never fully understand it, you just have to try not to feel guilty about it, remember the good times and try to move on.
It ain’t easy and its ok to be angry at him. Speak to someone about it, rant or blab about it on here. It’ll help a bit, maybe.
Horrible situation for you but you did your best and that’s all anyone can do.
    Rip.

Nort east Loch Lomond is almost unrideable from memory- had trouble walking it a few years back.
Devils staircase is v technical and rocky apparently, doubt I’ll manage to ride a lot of it. There’s also some big water bars which are almost too big to hop.
Apart from that- piece of piss.

Found this wee gem on t’internet just now- wonder if this will need to be renegotiated?

Had similar. Was parked up in a parking space and a car clatter my wing mirror, damaging his too. Honked the horn but he didn’t stop.
Followed him for about a mile and caught him up (I was raging) was behind him for a bit, flashed my lights indicating to him (politely) to pull over which he did when I pulled out my phone to take a pic of his plate.
Had a conversation with him and he denied hitting me at all- with his passenger wing mirror hanging off which he hadn’t noticed- lol, then stated I was parked too far from the kerb so was my fault. I pointed out that none of the other cars had had any problems passing.
He flat out denied it so I explained that maybe the police should attend and then I’d notify my insurer with the incident number and his details.. At that point he told me there was no need for anyone else to be involved and covered the costs to get it fixed.
Then I had to go and explain to my wife why I wasn’t there when she came out the hairdressers, thankfully our 6 month old slept through it all.
Bit daft with hindsight but I honestly didn’t want him getting away with it.

Had a problem with a crank bros pedal on a work to Balloch pootle last year, axle seized solid (bet that’s never happened before eh?) and the chap at the bike shop at Bowling was kind enough to lend me a pedal spanner after I bought some spds from him.
Forgot my spd shoes a few years back on a Glentress trip- the chaps in the (old) shop were kind enough to lend me a set of flats and tools again a pedal spanner so I could fit them- and didn’t charge me a penny.
I like that there’s still helpful and trusting folk in the world.

Neal- what if they were going to do the job as you watched, then hand them straight back to you?
You didn’t sell a guy on a ride with his mates a bb recently did you?
I can understand your point though..

Andy Goram- cos in my younger days I used to be a decent shot-stopper!
Nothing to do with my build btw..

I take it you were going to do it there and then in front of the shop? Or at least in the very near vicinity?
Yeah, I’d say they’re not coming across well- but what do I know?- I keep getting east and west mixed up.

    althepal

I can understand how that would make a lot of folk happy in the area..
The east or the west though…? 🙂
If we do become independent it won’t be my taxes being spent!
(Point about imbalance still valid though- without wanting to get into a North/south of England debate!)

I’m not really trying to be honest! It’s been a long day-but my poorly researched (googled) attempts at building a constructive argument mustn’t detract from the overall imbalance in mod spending in Scotland compared to England overall eh?

Once again I must apologise profusely, the range is close to Kirkcudbright in Scotland!
Once again, my very bad for not being overly familiar with the local geography!
Edit- cheers Scotroutes- I was just googling that- honest!
I believe I did state earlier that I was no expert in these matters?

    althepal

My very bad- I was getting my west and east mixed up- still, north is north eh? Guessing we’ve not traditionally been worried about the north west of england being overflown by our enemies!
My comments about policy reviews were assuming that Scotland says no and current mod plans are pushed ahead btw..
Is Rosyth not just a big repair and maintenance port really?
With regards to the firing range- you’ve not heard of it? Really? Like I said though- prob run by private contractors these days eh?

Quite a few at the mo based in Yorkshire in the above list..? Appreciate that’ll be changing though..

I’ve passed two RAF bases on my way down to Scarborough from Scotch corner big n daft, pretty sure there’s a very large army training base on the road over from Penrith to Scotch corner too, there’s also pretty big gun range near Carlisle too isn’t there- believe they shoot tank shells into the water a lot- although I accept that may be run by contractors..
How many airbases in the whole of Scotland is there going to be in the next few years if govt plans go ahead? Of course, in the next few years Russia might start chucking more backfires about above the North Sea again and perhaps that decision might need reviewed!
Not getting into a shooting match (groan) about it, I don’t claim to have specific answers to the question I posed above either!

is is a lot bigger than that in the North west of England or Wales, both areas will be glad of the change in direction for MoD spending post independance

Would be interested to see some stats on that if anyone has them?

I enjoyed sampling one the night before 10utb last year in Aviemore.. the seven or eight pints that preceded it probably helped. Not my race though obviously, managed approx 1.20 laps..

Don’t know exact details but I’ve been told its quite expensive to do this and also a pita because up to the meter, its owned by the utility company. Dealing with them is apparently a very long drawn out affair.
Come back and let us know how much they quote you- I had considered something similar to put in a downstairs loo but have been told it’ll cost a fortune.

Would agree with the comments about looking at the camera..
Tinted or mirrored lens required I think.
Plus a few more jumps or other action would be good. Cracking idea though.
    What was the music btw?

Ignore those dissing you for having to get permission mate, I’m in a similar position. Had to sell a coupla bikes to raise funds for a new one last time.
We don’t have enough free cash lying about for me to spunk a few grand on a new bike so it was very much a case of raising the funds to do it myself. Don’t feel particularly subjugated, that’s just the way things are.
