thats great, Im looking for aM5120 shadow+ mech now.
As for the upside down bit, any suggestions are welcomeWill the M5100 work with 10speed as well, or is it only the M5120?
alricFree MemberYou’ll need to explain that logic to me. Why wont a mech and cassette that are designed to work together, work?
I thought they were designed to work together too, but even with the goatlink thing they wont. I had the sunrace cassette before this , which i got before shimano did their 11-46 version, if they made a rear mech specifically for that im unaware of it. And id so can I ditch the goatlink? I did try other mechs
Ive done very little riding since covid due to an accident and trying to get back on the bike nowalricFree MemberYour drivetrain isn’t working properly, new drivetrain will fix it.
new drivetrain wont change anything
alricFree MemberAs above a deore group is about £150 which is also surely less than replacing your bl
How would a new groupset make any difference? Do you mean 11speed?
I want it to work properly
Dont shimano make a 10speed derailleur to work with their 10speed cassettes?alricFree MemberNewer 11 and 12 speed rear mechs are designed for 50t cassettes or more.
will 11/12 speed derailleurswork wit 10 speed chain/and shifters?
alricFree Memberyes its a 10speed. The 10speed XT long cage rear mech works ok on the biggest 3 cogs, but otherwise
results in a lack of chain wrap and slipping
fest
The Bscrew wont go in further without getting the cage caught in the cogsHow would a new groupset change things? Are you saying frames havent changed to fit larger cogs?
Would a 12 speed derailleur be any different? And the headtube is 34internally
alricFree MemberIm kinda looking for old damaged frames too, but aluminium.
Id like to weld up a tallbike, and possibly something else, but dont want to cut up anything good, any old alloy frame would do.
Although id quite like something 26 to repair with a tapered headset for my 27.5 forks1alricFree MemberIs it just me that likes weeping willows, hanging in the river, beautiful in reflections, but especially when theyre covered in ice. (?)
Like this:-….alricFree MemberI’ve just made my own Iqoro
it sounds worth a try. Otherwise its omeprazole everyday until im dead
alricFree MemberFaulty boot switch leaving 5w bulb on flattened my battery
yes but the circuit would show the cchange in voltage drop?
Anyway its all academic now, as someone just bought the car
I get obsessed with not being able to sort out such things, and end up spending way too much time on them, so Im glad its out of my mind
there was like one amp showing on the meter2alricFree MemberThis is currently my kind of tree, though i love oaks and various others, covered in mosses and shaped to sit on And why havent they picked it up with a helicopter and superglued it back in place yet? Its not like its the weekend yet
alricFree MemberI have marzocchi 44s on my old blur, theyre 150mm.
But I want to put my marzocchi 350 on there, so 27.5 on the front, but I need to figure out the headset.
Any reason not to go mullet with these frames?alricFree MemberNot a Ford but an Audi A3, and dicky door lock did this for me.
The only fault code relates to the lock on the tailgate, though it seems to work fine. Although there is no corresponding difference in current when that fuse is removed, would it be worth getting at the mechanism with some contact cleaner?
alricFree MemberYou need to measure the current flow, so one way to do it is with the meter between the negative battery terminal and an earth point on the chassis, and remove the lead from the battery negative to the chassis. Now all the current is going through the meter.
Yes, i did that, but nothing showed up, so is there anywhere else i could look?
alricFree Memberim sure i got it right. i tried with the ammeter leads between the battery negative and the earth clamp
alricFree MemberLike i (tried to) say,i was looking for less current drop as i pulled each fuse, but didnt really find any, so want to try other things.
The battery earth strap is good but i havent tried the others yetalricFree Memberyou need these
They might not be easy to find if youre over size 42, and comfortable theyre not, but for slippy muddy mountains jungles and rivers theyre all the ragealricFree MemberBrilliant , just what i need, except i
ll have to get an ebike to go with them.
So I got the 10speed 11-46 cassette i wanted anyway, back down to 24.99alricFree MemberI suppose you know how popular laos wis/was with (dutch/french etc) cycle tourers?
Especially in the south. Thai roads are deadly, and since all the chinese lorries came into north laos (2010?) the main roads there have become terrible, but i dont know if they got to south laos, or if theres still loads of european cyclists on the back roads there.
As an expat in thailand, the visa rules were always changing, so every 3months/month/2weeks Id have to leave there for a new visa, so took advantage of airasia sales to explore the region, from mandalay to sulawesi etc3alricFree Memberif Youve only done a few weeks before, id spend 6months-a year doing your bucketlist, backpacking, and see how it goes from there. you might decide to stop and stay somewhere for years, and get into something else bigtime, like dirtbikes or diving.
See how you like the expat scenes, but keep somewhere you can return to so if it goes titsup you got something to go back toalricFree Memberhave you tried those 200 bolts with your drill?
I got a 20V lidl one as it was cheap, butit didnt do what I expected of it (yet)
I wanted a bosch(blue) or makita really cos i know theyll do the jobalricFree MemberWhich bit were you referring to?
I only went up the main track from Dennis Knoll Car Park then down to Hollin Bank Car Park and i saw the tracks on the way up. Ive never been there before
Unfortunately i cant do much(any) rocky tech at the moment1alricFree Memberi did see bike tracks on stanage edge, it looked quite doable, even for me, so that may be part of an option.
Also saw some very wet mtb riders on the road at edale, so there must be something near therealricFree Memberthese ankle exercises give me enough concern about my stability, that Im determined to carry on with them. Just starting i find Im so wobbly that its crucial to learn to do them properly. My balnce etc is much worse than i thought it was
Im much better on a bikeIf you could get her to ‘prove’ that she can do those xercises well, get her interested in something that would show her how bad her balnce is, maybe she’d take it seriously
alricFree Memberhow did it go?
ice, ibuprofen, thai boxing liniment, massage, stretching and strapping?
Ive been reading a lot about how ankle sprains are not taken seriously enough nor treated to heal properly and go on to occur repeatedlyExercise Overview
In 2021, Smith et al introduced the PAASS framework, which is a group of items that the authors recommend assessing after a lateral ankle sprain prior to returning to sport. These items arePain severity
Ankle impairments, including range of motion, strength, endurance, and power
Athlete perception, such as your perceived confidence and readiness
Sensorimotor control, including proprioception and dynamic balance
Sport/functional performance, such as hopping, jumping, and sport-specific activities
see article hereIm trying a fairly intensive rehab for my ankle (twisted last month) and wondering how much is too much
Advice seems to be if it hurts back offAlso i get bad foot cramp so somethings wrong there too.
But im getting old and dont heal so quick. When you exercise, you create micro tears in the muscles, so during sleep the muscle repairs even stronger. Do you need to actually be asleep for this repair process or is it just a matter of rest?
Sorry i cant help morealricFree MemberAny locals care to share the off piste?
I’ll try to explain some of the tracks as i remember. It probably wont make much sense
on the church side, ride down the path, turn left at the gate(?), some tracks down on the right but carry on,and turn left when you can. you soon get to a jubction, straight ahead is steep down path, but go right slightly, there’s a track(1) very soon on the left to ride down through the trees. Or carry on (right) a bit and a couple more tracks on the left.
If youd gone straight on at the jubction,or take track(1),youd get down to a junction, take the left up steep track, beside a fence,at the top is a bench and a junction. There you have a choice of tracks on the right, or go straight on a bit and theres more tracks off to the rightI might have an old gpx somewhere
alricFree MemberThe deposit should be held in a holding scheme, if not they’re breaking the law.
there are 2 kinds of holding scheme, 1)the deposit is with the scheme or 2) the deposit is not, but the landlord has a ticket to show he has it. One may be easier to reclaim than the other
i hope she has photos of everything from when she moved in.
I got charged for a new mattress and carpet despite it being like that when i moved in. The tribunal didnt see it my way either,i had to pay half in the end
The next landlord tried to get me to pay for a new utility room worktop, and fit it myself, with all the plumbing etc., despite the fact i had photos to show damage was there when i moved in, and all it needed was a little strip of formica gluing to the side, and it wasnt me, and so he couldnt prove it.
All this despite the council assessed that it was ‘not suitable for habitation’ when we moved in. I dont see how he got away with it without bribing the council and the tribunal.
He saw it as a landlord’s duty to charge the tenants with anything he might be able to get away withalricFree Memberthere are several different types and sizes of spring compressors, maybe only a couple will fit your car
alricFree MemberI saw a couple of youtubes where it looked doable, on my audi, but it got complicated, had to undo subframe, caliper, anti roll bar etc, spring compressor got in the way.
Did it eventually without compressor, but oh, if id known then what i know now, never again1alricFree Membermy neighbours all run away when i try to talk to them-theyre weird!
alricFree MemberI was told 2 years ago,you can pay £40month, and amazon do all the rest for you, you just buy the stuff in.
like nickjb says, what about returns etc?alricFree Memberif id been taken on as mountain rescue, then tats cool, whatever. Theres a lot worse ways to live and die
alricFree Memberi thought if you get an mot test, if it fails you have only 2 weeks to correct it. then youre out of mot.
alricFree Memberive a focus 1.6diesel 2010, 160k, manual estate, ideal first car, aircon,£1250,mot due dec

i got a copy for my birthday once, dont remember if i ever read it.
My round the world travels got kinda condensed into riding around

Last book was Guy Martin’s autobiography, an insight into the racing world and how i might feel about it,
and just started the Natural History of Badgers, as that is of concern to me,especially in these days of pseudo-science,scapegoating badgers and deifying the infected cattle as the govt pays for/encourages the genocide while turning a blind eye to foxhunting.
reintroducing beavers and pine martens is a great idea, like stopping the grey squirrels and other invasive pests, but why are (cash)cows so protected? they harbour and spread the disease, fart holes in the ozone layer, you need the digestive juices of a dog to break their meat into bits that humans can process efficiently, are mostly antibiotics, take up all the land that can be put to better use, widen the gap between the rich and the poor, etc. so 12% of americans eat 50% of the beef, doesnt that tell you something?
an interesting fact- westerners only developed the gene needed so they could eat cows milk 5000years ago-asians didnt- thats why they dont like dairytell me i’m wrong!
