157×12 has been around on downhill bikes for years, mainly the Santa Cruz V10

I am rather fond of this, video, riding and music complement eachother nicely. Don’t know if you can embed from vimeo?

Might as well buy a GX? Similar pricing and 10speed too. About £40 for a mech.

What’s your gear ranging? I have one i’ll need to sell as i’m changing gears (New mech in the post)

Another vote for Bawbags here, own enough pairs to keep me going for two + weeks!

I worked in Tignes for a holiday company as a bike mechanic in 2014. Saw loads of families come and go as I was working there. All of the guests near enough had at least one child. As others have mentioned there’s loads of free stuff, the riding isn’t particularly too hard if you’re experienced but was enough to keep me occupied for 7 weeks or so! Good few green tracks, found some of the guests on some of the blues too. Something for everyone

I usually use this when I build wheels – https://leonard.io/edd/%5B/url%5D

Stick this in for ‘ERD’ (Delete as necessary)
    Rim ERD: 26″ 539 // 27.5″ 562 // 29″ 600

Should be able to use the ‘pro 2’ presets from the website.

Depending what you’re wanting/ your drawings are like i’m happy to have a go at trying to draw them up on Solidworks, I’m a mech eng student and any practise is good! Email in profile if it’s of any interest. We have a 3D printer at uni that i’ve used to design and print (and now in use) a couple of things for myself and others. The parts have been made from ABS but not necessarily under loads of tension, I made some 10-7 Speed cassette converters for downhill set ups.

I pay £5 a month for it as a student and it’s definitely worth it for that price. 3 months for £1 is a good price.

So I would be okay to just sand it back with fine sand paper? I didn’t plan on using any chemicals. When would I know to stop? Just before I go too far and damage the carbon…

I’ll give you a heads up sharkattack, i’m after getting my downhill bike down too, only problem is it has the carbon seatstays so might have to do that bit by hand, i’ve sent an email off for a quote from a company in sheffield. Which bike are you looking at doing?

How would i go about stripping back to carbon? Just using fine grit sandpaper?

Thanks for the link there Jambalaya, I’ll check that out.

I’ve been to the PDS twice in the past 3 years (4 if you count 2017), but stayed in chatel the first time so rode that and as far as linderets bowl. Think I’ve ridden the track down from super morzine you’re on about deadkenny, also after loads of rain, was great fun!

Thanks for all the information, I don’t plan on entering it, it just so happens cheapest flights/ accommodation were end of June and when the PPDS is on, the info about the lifts and how busy it will be helps. We’re staying in central morzine.

Where abouts are you from? There’s a one I used to work in that’s for sale in Northumberland.

Hmm, thanks for the input, ideally was looking as cheap as possible, think the exposed trails may be a bit of a problem with wanting to take the girlfriend who’s not that experienced off road. Think as a result of the info you’ve given i’ll be more tempted to Morzine as there’s a bit more in the town for experience and the trails are a bit more varied to allow for less experienced riders, green routes etc.

Lesanita2 » Any Mac Air i5 or pros deals about.
Daughter doing product design at uni next year and this is apparently what she needs. I’ve saved up and was thinking about January sales, but you guys normally know better.
    Thanks in advance.

student pricing will beat any of the deals on offer today.

Student discount is only 10% unfortunately

Thanks for all the tips, i’ve been toying with the idea of a digital one if i can find one cheap. I’m enjoying playing with the focus and things but it’s hard to see whether photos are any good until all the film has been used. I’ll have a look at second hand bodies, do you mean the lens’ i do have for my film one will fit a dslr, granted i find an adaptor?

I’m very tempted… I love Fort William and raced the SDA 3 times in a row (I’m only 20). I’ve had a few problems health wise so only been on the bike 3 times in the past year or so so still a bit iffy. Hoping i’m on the mend and can do this! Fort William is probably my favourite track

I’d not want to go 29″, 650b seems about right and I’ve a nice set of hope wheels I want to keep on for a next bike

Thanks for the input, they sound ideal, the numbers look good, still not 100% sure on the transition between a full suspension (orange 5) to a hardtail. Even if the rear end is flexible and forgiving, I’ll still have to decide about whether or not it’s worth it.

I worked in Tignes last season, and although I didn’t do any activities as such because I was riding too much I can also vouch for how good the area/ resort is. Amongst the activities already mentioned, there’s mini golf and a few other things, also possible to get the funicular up on to the glacier which is about 3200m i believe.

Feel free to email if you want more info as I spent 7 weeks there in 2014 so know the area and the tracks pretty well! :)

I’ve a 2014 one in the polished variety, however, have noticed orange have brought back the fluro pink option so very tempted by a respray… £200 is a lot though.. There’s a free upgrade of pink if you buy a new frame, wonder if I can ask about them respraying, hmm…

Thanks, i’ll probably just get one of those ordered unless i can find a similar bottom cup for less, there’s an evans just round the corner so hopefully they can price match. I’ve got a hope top cup, just nothing to knock it in with really

Head up the golfie instead if you’re going to innerleithen, the red isn’t worth doing at inners unless you divert and do the SES stuff

Not ridden one but two lads had them when i was out in Slovenia, great bikes and seem to handle everything (Both of them were faster than me and I wouldn’t say i’m that slow). If i could sell my commencal and afford a new bike i’d go straight for a process i reckon

I have the V3 so basically the same bike, little heavy but great on the downhills! Can take a beating (Came from riding downhill bikes) and don’t pedal too bad back up the hill either

Hopefully an SD card for my new camera (bit surprised it didn’t come with one, is that how it’s done now?) and a new pair of Salomons.

This, with loads left over for uplifts or whatever?

Or if you want something niche, Transition TR500. If you want carbon (the Saracen has a carbon rear but alloy front) then the Mondraker is a good shout and looks stunning too.

My friend had one of those and cracked the needle bearings. I had a 2012 myst and they are really good though!

Don’t let him get a 951, there were a lot of snapping/ cracking issues. I believe with the warranty they gave people m9’s as replacements..

Having owned one, I’d say get a polygon, hard to find in the UK but very good bikes! The new ones look exceptionally smart, or get a mondraker as everyone else is suggesting

Does it have internal routing for the cables?
