Might be worth having a look or trying some bawbags? Always my go to, super comfortable and they do a moisture wicking material too (although that may be a bit tight for you). The standard ones are fairly loose fitting though.

    Edit:

Here’s the URL as I can’t get links to work

Saxonrider – I am currently struggling with something very similar but mine stems from anxiety, I can relate for the most part what you’re going for and it is a horrible thing to experience. Mine too started from an injury. I tore my ACL in December 2017 from a skiing accident, this led to a month on crutches and a bad episode when walking to uni (I’m a student), things went downhill from there and I could barely even leave the house by myself last Feb/ March. I had to take a break in study and went through CBT counselling which helped a lot. Still a bit patchy, and still have mental blocks.

The biggest thing I suffer with is not to do with my knee / injury but similar to Ton’s experience where I think if I ride hard I will have a heart attack or something pretty detrimental will happen to me, even though there’s no reason to. I went through a couple of sessions with the CBT where I’d be made to run up and down a hill or walk away places by myself (Essentially facing my fears) and prove nothing would happen.

There seems to be a lot of good advice on here that people have given and I too am going to take some of it on board. I plan on going on an easy ride with someone on monday morning and he knows the situation so will be nothing demanding and just taking our time etc. Feel free to message me if you want to talk more, If you’re anywhere near Sheffield then we can go on a ride together and start off slow / take it easy.

Can’t really comment on the Lumix or Olympus but I have a Sony A6000, have the standard 16-50 kit lens, Sigma 30mm f1.4 and the 55-210 kit lens.

I generally use the 30mm the most because it is such a great lens, I take photos of all sorts to be honest, nothing too defining and it’s really rather sharp.

I was in a position like you where I went from a DSLR (Canon 1100d) to a mirrorless and the difference was incredible, straight away there was a noticeable difference in how much better the Sony was. The Sony is so much smaller too (although the 30mm is pretty big!) So it’s handy to just stick in a bag or whatever.

Generally at an amatuer level, the only thing I’d consider trading my a6000 for would be a 6500.

Hopefully someone with more camera knowledge can chip in. I’d try find you some example shots but on mobile just now, will try tomorrow if I remember!

I did get confused when I first started looking at it and had this to work out (it would be interesting to see what answers people here get as the only instruction was to work out the below sum using common denominators).

    1/2 + 2/8 = []/8 + 2/8 =

    Surely it’s just 4/8? Giving 1/2 + 2/8 = 4/8 + 2/8 = 6/8 or 3/4 or 0.75 ;)

All you need to do is multiply to get your denominator, in this case because the denominator you’re trying to achieve is ‘8’ (x/8), and you’re given 1/2, just multiply the 2 by 4 to get 8, or divide the 8 by 2 if you find it easier. For example, 2/5 + 3/10 = x/10 + 3/10. You’d multiply 2/5 by 2, to get a denominator of 10. This giving 2/5 + 3/10 = 4/10 + 3/10 = 7/10

Bit more awkward if the denominators aren’t even or don’t divide by each other, then you find the lowest common multiple or multiply the 2 denominators together to get a common denominator, although depending on the numbers, this can get quite big!

There’s a lot of people with Seiko divers but not many with Citizen.
Has anyone got a Citizen diver?
Are they as good as Seiko?

I’ve not got a Citizen diver but have a couple of their watches and really rate them, the eco drive works well and build quality seems pretty good for the money, i’ve nothing toooo expensive from them but if I was in the market for a diver, I would certainly look at them.

This is one of the ones I have from them, as well as a standard eco drive (AO9003-08E) https://d1rkccsb0jf1bk.cloudfront.net/products/99941071/main/xlarge/AT4004-52E.jpg

@demonracer. I wonder if it was the same forum we read but I believe via royal mail they go to Ireland first and then to the UK so no customs charges as it looks like it’s shipped from there instead.

Interesting that it came inside the box,did you purchase the box off of creation? I’ve never really looked for the option

    alpineharry

From what I’ve read, if you choose the royal mail delivery option you pay £6-9 for delivery but you don’t pay customs, although it doesn’t come with a box I’m sure you could pick something up for less than 20% + £10 of the value of the watch

Thanks for the advice on the Orient earlier, think I’ll take the advice and save a wee bit more and get something else that may not necessarily be a daily.

    @wysiwyg
    – how recently are we talking? I bought something in September I think? Also have my eye on something else on there but a bit worried about the price of import duties. The watch I bought in September was £110 and the duties were about £30 on top (after delivery oddly)

Anyone done a big purchase on Creation?, If so, how much and what were the import duties?

Anyone have any opinions on the Orient Ray II? Just as an everyday watch, would more than likely change to a leather strap of some sort also.

Thanks a lot everyone for your inputs, much appreciated. Definitely helps to understand where everyone has been and as I say, I appreciate you sharing that with me. Incase you’ve had a little look on my previous thread posts I do suffer a bit with anxiety, i’m not as bad as the start of the year but still struggle a little with some things. Part of my worry is not knowing how to reapproach exercise after a long break due to the injury. When I first did it last December (I tore my ACL) I was sat around for about 4/5 weeks which didn’t help but after that I was doing bits of physio so not been completely inactive but a long way from where I used to be. I’m building up to it more now as I deal with the anxiety more, just wondering what kind of time scale I may be looking at. I am 22 and about 5′ 10″ / 63kg too, part of my worry is anything happening due to being inactive for so long (Result of the anxiety) but as some of you mention its a long but steady process. Thanks again.

I had a 2018 HT LT and it was all external routing for the brakes, likewise with the 2015 nomad I had. I built them both up myself but I’d imagine the brakes will come UK style

Just to throw this in to the mix, have you considered a Saracen Myst? Loved mine when I had it and that was a 2012 one. Was fast everywhere and rode really well!

I have used MPB to buy and sell before, usually look on there for lenses etc. If you’re looking at the A6000 I can definitely recommend it, I own one after an upgrade from a canon 1100D DSLR (Nothing fancy) and the A6000 blows the Canon away but it is also 6 years newer I think. Really simple to use and pretty compact (Depending on lens), the sigma 30mm I use is pretty beefy but still smaller than the Canon 1100D with even kit lens. Feel free to message me if you want to ask any questions.

Thanks again for all the inputs and advice, most certainly very much appreciated and plenty to look back through. Some of the topics about starting off round the block or just small rides for 10 minutes or so to start off with are definitely a good way to build upon what I’ve veee learning already with the CBT. I had set myself a goal of riding a bit more by spring / march time so have plenty of time to build up. The main goal at the moment is being more independent and getting out more by myself and that was do be done by December time as I need to get back to walking to uni by myself. Speaking to someone else they mentioned they would go out with headphones in as a distraction which would help and take away some of the worry, that’ll be my next approach

Should be a discount on bus tickets. It’s £1 in Sheffield for anywhere in the city and up to the Derbyshire border (fox house pub). Loads of places do a student discount, no harm in asking when you’re in a shop.

I believe topman / Topshop will drop down to 10% before long, usually only 20% for a short while after uni begins

Thanks for all the inputs and help, it’s much appreciated! At present I still struggle to do a lot of things by myself, and even thinking of walking certain distances that I’m used to can make me feel anxious and worry something is going to happen. That’s something I need to build up by myself but slowly getting there.

With regards to the turbo trainer idea, I have tried that in the house and was helping for a bit until I had a massive panic attack after a small session, the attack lasted about 40minutes and was horrible. I’ve had problems with low blood pressure in the past and it felt like that, rather than just a panic attack but was okay afterwards.

The idea of an HR monitor may be something I will look into, will help show what’s normal I suppose. I work in a bike shop and on my feet all day so feel like I’m exercising that way which in turn helps as I feel like I’m getting a little fitter from that. I have started doing some small things in the house just including yoga and steps exercises alongside a.few weight related exercises to slowly get me back in to it.

Do / did any of you struggle with going places by yourself and walking long distances say? That’s what my main struggle at the moment is to be honest.

I’ve been through something similar in the past over a pair of wheels. Myself and someone else thought we were buying the same pair of wheels. The other lad was doing a swap + cash and I sent money to the scammer, I received the other lads wheels, which were obviously not what I was expecting and the other lad got nothing. Luckily I paid by PP goods but the other guy had not, was about £60 IIRC. When we’d realised what had happened the other guy had got in touch with me and I sent his wheels back as they were no good to me and doing the decent thing, unfortunately he didn’t get his money back but I did. The scammer turned out to be a guy called ‘Adam Rees’ or something who has actually done jail time for similar scamming offences. Looks like it may be a fairly common scam.

TL:DR – Experienced similar but with wheels, I got money back, scammer ended up doing jail time due to previous similar offences.

    Edit: Mine was through pinkbike

From what i’ve been told, as above, it’s more of a ‘want’ than a ‘need’, they want £10m to reinvest to make more profit rather than they need it to bail out. If they don’t get a good deal, they will continue trading and maybe try again to sell in a few years, it was sold only a few years ago and it happens from time to time. This is what i’ve been told by my manager as an Evans employee, I am just a part time sales assistant but don’t feel like my job is in danger, we hit target week in week out and can’t see it going under to be honest, yes there are a lot of costs and overheads out side of our store but I don’t see them being in any danger.

As a student, I have unfortunately been through something similar. We had resigned a new contract pretty early on to stay in the same place a second year, turns out we had a pretty awful time in the flat, it was incredibly noisy amongst other problems, we told the estate agents and landlord that we wanted out, but they wouldn’t release us unless we found someone else to take over, which we did in the end, even after that the estate agents took some fees. It’ll be in the contract unfortunately, if it’s similar to our experience you’ll need someone to take it over.

I tore / ruptured my ACL in December (2017), didn’t have surgery and surgeon said it was okay but is there anything I should be wary of? Or should I invest in a brace?

You’ll be fine with crank brothers in terms of longetivity. I have 2 pairs of mallets race and a pair of mallet E’s and all were second hand to me, had no issues over the past 2 years over varying conditions.

The shorter spindle length on the mallet E’s wasn’t too bad but I did notice it being shorter than the mallet race, I was using five ten hellcats so not the narrowest of shoes though. I ended up swapping the axles to give some more clearance.

I may have a pair of mallet race (the red ones) with shorter axles (from the E’s) if it’s of any interest but can’t remember if they have end caps .

It’s worth looking on Parcel2go, it’s a comparison site and generally what I tend to use for bigger items. They have parcel force options on there.

Or worth doing what Pjay said, I think you can get a quote on the RM website.

The new visitor centre along Hadrian’s wall is called the ‘Sill’. Worth a visit if you get the chance, bit of local history and info on the area, little cafe and you can walk up on to the roof and get a decent view of the valley. As Anus says, try get yourself along to a country show, think Glendale show (,Wooler show) is on the bank holiday in August.

Linhope spout Is a nice walk out if.youre up that way, away up the Ingram valley.

I got some offset bushings from offset bushings .com. You can get standard bushings from them as well as from tf tuned etc.

Benpinnick – New shocks don’t tend to, if you go on TF tuned and look at shocks it normally states they sell springs and mounting hardware separate.

If it helps, I have a hightower LT and replaced the shock (although it was with a DVO Jade), the bushings I bought were 22×8 front and rear, can’t remember 100% but I’m about 90% sure its tjat. Bought some in that size for my nomad when I had that (was a 15 model).
