I think they are like helmets in that you need to try lots of pairs on to find out which fit you best.

I’ve run 32 bit programs through XP sessions on VirtualBox for several years with no issues so you should be fine.

I’ve only hosted VirtualBox on Windows 7 so can’t help you with the Linux question.

When I found a sheet I got some special bags from the local recycling center and they had a special area to store/dispose of it.

Sorry it’s my fault. I bought a new lawnmower and sun lounger 3 weeks ago. They are both still in their wrappings in the shed.

I have one due to heart issues. Now recovering from open heart surgery so still using it. I’m hoping to switch back to a regular bike in the future as I’m not keen on manhandling the weight (and I have pipe cleaner arms).

Another vote for Pedalcover. Unfortunately we had to make a claim but it all went through very smoothly.

I’d recommend a Honda 4 stroke with harness and bull bar handles. It’s what I’ve had for. Many years. Starts very easily after a winter of neglect.

I’m glad to hear Jester has had a bit of a reprieve. Every time we loose a pet we say no more but then a few months later …

I’m still using a OnePlus 3 and will upgrade to a OnePlus 6T or OnePlus 7 as they’re fantastic phones.

Are you allowed to exercise again? If so then that seems like step forward (don’t overdo it). Hopefully your MRI will shed some light on your problem or at least rule out more serious issues.

Since stopping drinking last November a month before heart surgery, I’ve struggled to start again. Even one pint or large glass of wine means broken sleep and a mini hangover.

I would 2nd Patagonian’s advice. The pads I was after didn’t fit. I ended up trying every pad in the shop in multiple sizes. Ended up with 661 knee pads and Raceface elbows.

We’ve always taken our own with Easyjet without too much bother. Even when there’s been lots of us we’ve never lost a bike yet. This year (if we go) we’re thinking of driving and stopping off somewhere on the way to break the journey up.

Leisure Lakes do ebike hire. Could you pick one up on your way to Glentress from one of their shops?

And while while you are there, crank up the amount of salt in the water. It is a bit shocking how much you should be putting in compared to how much most folks put in

I don’t put any salt in (I don’t put salt in any cooking). Am I missing out?

My first week in Morzine many years ago was on a 125mm bike. OK the trails have progressed somewhat since those days and slacker, longer, more travel etc. means you can tackle bigger stuff with a bit more comfort but I’m sure 150mm is plenty. If you plan to spend all your time only on fully uplifted DH graded trails then you’ll probably benefit from a DH or 160mm+ bike.

I’ve gotten more abuse for being on an ebike than for being on a footpath.

Although I’ve never really had very high blood pressure, since my aortic valve replacement 3 months ago I’ve been on Bisoprolol and Warfarin. My blood pressure was 115/79 a couple of days ago and my resting heart rate is around 60 to 70 bpm. I just take what’s prescribed and don’t worry about it. If it helps keep me alive or reduces the risk of nasty things happening then it’s all good.

This probably isn’t the best place, but it’s the easiest right now.

Based on help and information in past threads to people asking for help, I’d say it’s an excellent place and a very good first step. Good luck.

Elbow and knee pads 100% of the time for me.

(100% of the time is zero time at the moment but I’m hoping that will change by the summer when I can get back on a bike.)

I remember reading his post about cancer the night before his first diagnoses and then over the years reading about his heroic struggles and achievements. The world has lost a truly inspiring man. I hope his family can take some small comfort in knowing how many people Mark affected and inspired during his all too short time.

    Ride on Mark.

How about a Specialized Stumpjumper? It’s the same frame on the 120mm and 150mm versions. If you bought a 2nd fork, rear shock and yoke you’d have both a short travel for XC and longer travel for the Alps.

Like jamj1974 I’ve had a new aortic root and aortic valve (mechanical) but had mine done 12 weeks ago. I’m 52 and am well on the way to full recovery. I’m being told to exercise as much as I can so I’m trying to get out and walk/hike as much as I can (not as easy now I’m back at work) and can manage about 4 to 5 miles of Lake District walking, so fairly steep hills. I also go to the heart rehabilitation gym twice a week for supervised workouts.

I did have to go through about a year of no exercise (not even on an ebike) and no heavy lifting so I know what you’re going through. Before my operation I would get out of breath quickly, even on easy walks.

Try an ebike if you’re allowed. I had one for about a year and with minimal/zero effort effort you can keep up with your mates and get out riding. I found it easier than walking. I just set it on turbo mode and span slowly to keep my heart rate as low as possible. Now I’m fixed I plan to switch back to regular bikes once my chest heals and my strength returns.

I used to ride off road with a chap who had a quadruple bypass when in his late sixties and was back out on his mountain bike within a few months. No doubt your heart problem is fixable and you’ll be better than ever afterwards. You just have to keep your spirits up while you wait.
