Our cat had a similar op last week but for 2 teeth. As it was planned and during working hours it was ‘a mere’ £211.

That included cleaning out her ears too.

I looked into this when we moved into our current house which is on oil.

The conclusion I came to is that as long as you’re organised enough to buy oil before you run out and buy it when prices are a bit cheaper then switching to Calor Gas didn’t seem worth it. As I understand it you rent the Calor Gas tank and you’re then tied into one supplier who will fill your tank up when ever they please (different options may be available) and YMMV etc.

Ask her why she’s wearing old people’s shoes 🙂

I sell lots of things on eBay. I’m running at around 50% feedback rate from buyers even though I always give good feedback.

Excellent film which I watched after a recommendation from here (sorry not DezB’s thread).

We had a negative head pump in our last house. After a power cut it often switched back to positive head mode and stopped working as the hot water pressure wasn’t enough to start it up again when a tap was opened. I just had to reset it back to negative head mode and it was fine. Resetting mine (a different pump to yours) involved switching it off and on again within a few seconds.

We ditched our Sky Box (basic Sky package without HD) and went to FreeSat as we are also too busy to watch much live TV and could do without the Sky channels. No regrets so far apart from the constant phone calls, emails and letters from Sky begging us to return.

I’d like a dog but work similar hours. So we have a cat instead. They’re plenty happy left on their own and if you fit a cat flap then they can come and go as they please.

Brilliant. I’ve always loved his “This is like the Shawshank Redemption” quote.

As above I’ve got a CISS for my Epson 1500w. I paid £18 for 600ml ink the last time I bought some. Makes it very cheap to run and I get excellent results IMO.

Get a couple of chickens in your garden, they eat all the pupae, and you’ll never see them again in your garden.

We got a couple yesterday. I’ll report back if we become a daddy longlegs free zone.

    Been with BT forever.

Last house (rural) after many visits they were going to send out 2 teams of engineers and a cherry picker to replace ageing local pole and cable. Final engineer got it working the day before the pole was to be replaced. We got speeds of around 1.5m download.

Current house (semi rural), engineer spent all day replacing 100m of phone cable. He climbed all the poles between our house and the lane, cut back overgrown trees and got a cherry picker along (the same day) as he wasn’t allowed to climb the final pole as it was a different type. We get 1.3m download.

My experience has been that living where we do it’s only BT who don’t mind throwing resources and money to give us broadband which will take years to make a profit from. Their customer service is what it is but as long as you jump through all their hoops your case eventually gets escalated to an engineer visit. As their helplines are all 0800 who cares if you have to hold a while to get through or call them back every 2 days for a resolution.

I guess if I lived in a town or city where broadband was guaranteed I might look at other providers.

No matter how cold it gets it seems wrong to light the fire or put the heating on until at least 1st September.

and how do you write adresses down or details of work at 60mph

Just type them into the phone the same way you would when sending an email or txt at 60mph. 😉

I have a Chromecast which I use to watch iPlayer, YouTube and Netflix on the telly. I can cast to it from either my laptop or iPhone (I guess other phones would work too). I can also cast Chrome Internet browser to the telly if I want to. I live in a rural area and have 1.3M broadband and never have any issues using Chrome but I do have issues using the FreeSat box to watch iPlayer or YouTube.

Not sure what Apple TV does extra but I’m guessing it’s more than £30?

I wanted something wider without going for the ridiculously heavy 2.4 they made for the DH crowd.

I used to love them. Heavy and slow but grippy as a grippy thing.

I’d love to and it’s on my (extremely long) list of DIY jobs. Perhaps I’ll make time for it early spring next year although I’d probably want to lay a patio first.

Oh yes. Red Dwarf and Better than Life are great. I’m not so keen on the others.

Your plan sounds good. The park is fine on your own as there’s always someone around if you get into trouble. They also check the runs at the end of the day to make sure no one is left stranded (or worse).

I was close when the bomb went off. I was on foot on my way to M&S to buy a suit for an interview. The whole world shook like you see in a disaster movie coupled with the sound of the explosion itself and breaking glass, falling brickwork etc. Scary stuff.

I’d swap the battery for a new one and make sure you can charge it in your car (assuming you commute in one) and at work (assuming you’re in an office and have your own desk).

Edit: p.s. I don’t think there is life after an iPhone 😉
